    I think it's a good thing you are branching out more from the Tamiya stuff. I love Tamiya and all the work you do with them but I also love more modern RCs and it's nice to see you working with them as well. And it's never a bad thing to push yourself out of your comfort zone.

      Yeah I agree. To be honest, Tamiya hasn't made anything good in well over a decade.

    The UDR comes with a spare drive shaft and they last for years, mine is 5 years old. The only the reason I ever took it off was the input shaft bearing to the rear drive went away. A few grams on this car is nothing to worry about. Installing new out put cones on the front drive and replacing the front drive shaft ( which looked just fine ) with a metal one. And doing it just because wanted to upgrade some parts. Have all the upgrades installed for the suspension and still going strong and run 4S. Still people compare this truck to much newer ones and that alone says something about the UDR.

    Great video as always. I've been eyeing 1 of these for awhile now but they were a little pricey for me. Then today while on Ebay I saw 1 in great shape and a great price so I couldn't pass up the deal. Can't wait to get it as I love the looks of these trucks

    I found the stock drive shaft to be ok. I just replaced it after 2 plus years! mild bashing, plenty of jumping and a whole lot of doughnuts... and the completely stock UDR is still going strong. I have since built another UDR all upgraded for bling and shelf Queen status. I'm sure some upgrades might be better in some cases but for the most part it' mostly bling. I did use the MIP stuff and must say it sure looks beefy and durable👍

      Yeah it seems well done. I just love MIP so when I saw they made it...i needed to have it.

      I’ve had mine for a month and I’ve broken 2 rear driveshafts and the front driveshaft. So now I’m purchasing this after this video hopefully it holds up!

    I love the tamiya stuff and currently I have four tamiyas. Sadly none of them are actually in a drivable state since I won’t stop buying and working on tycos (6 bandits, 2 4wd racing Nissan trucks, 8 turbo hoppers, and about 8 others that are various different models)

    My set screw threaded into the rear diff stem. Causing it to seise together after the front end of the shaft separated due to wear. The rear back up is now being used. Upgraded or not. They wear out more then the rest of the gears/ rolling parts.

    Question: how is the Mip driveshaft working out ? just bought me a UDR “Fox Edition ‘’. Upgraded the plastic to Aluminum wheel hubs and they red disc break calipers from “ Hot Racing “ tried it out a few short runs. Like to upgrade the servo to a Traxxas 400 but one step at a time. Thanks for sharing your videos. Also what is the brand of batteries do you use. Thanks

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  2 роки тому

      I am a massive fan of that driveshaft or anything from MIP to be quite honest. I also dont bash mine in the least so I am probably not the best person to ask. What I can say is that the MIP axles in my RC 10 are 30 years old and still perfect. As for batteries, almost everything I have is Ovonic. Again, take is with a grain of salt as i really baby my cars.

    Ok so I have installed 15+ MIP axles and driveshafts and this one binds up when there is no load on the suspension, like turned upside down. Set it on the ground moves smooth but if I'm jumping and throttling I am concerned. Does it break in?

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  3 роки тому

      It binds? That isnt good. No there should be no break in. Email mip customer support asap! They will take care of you.

    I drove my UDR today and the driveshaft was grinding away the motor can. Would the MIP driveshaft help with that or is it not a driveshaft issue and something else that is causing it to rub?

    • @AMPROEngineering
      @AMPROEngineering  3 роки тому

      Are you serious? that's awful! The MIP unit is thinner so it may but man that seems like perhaps some kind of alignment issue. Check out the trailing arms and links to make sure everything in in place.
