    I am a K70 user upgraded from K50. I am planning on an astrophotography trip with my friend, and I found out your video when I was searching for intervalometer adapter cable for my K70. The invervalometer feature on the K70 is the same as the K1 and just enough for what I need. Thanks a lot for the video!

      Thanks for your comment Mark! I am glad you found it helpful! Pentax does a great job packing in the features with a tip toward us night folks. Enjoy your K70! I am sure you'll get some fantastic shots.

    Great video. My k70 has the same functionality and same intervalometer menu system, so your video was an ideal step by step tutorial for me. Looking forward to going out to get some images. Need clear skies though, and I'm in Scotland, so might take a while. Lol.

    Never tried star trails but after seeing this video I really need to give it a go. I'll wait for my next coast trip though as there is just too much light pollution where I live.
    My K1 has been sitting in a cupboard for the last 3years as it was getting a bit heavy to hold after an arm injury and I started using Fuji X-T2 / 3. Armed with a new sturdy tripod and my 3 favourite Samyang manual lenses - 14mm F2.8, 20mm F1.8 and 35mm F1.4 - it's time to get out with it at night again!

    Agreed, K1 is awesome, been with Pentax 35mm and medium format 645 for over 25 years, no plans to switch, would not have the heart anyway, I'm too deep :). Even adapted some of my Pentax/Takumar lenses for video to work with BMPCC4K. Your process is exactly what I do, well explained. I always enjoy your episodes, just wanted to say thank you, you're doing great job and it is appreciated.

    Thanks for the great tutorials on night time photography with the K1. I never realized the camera can do so much, this is really helpful. For one thing I don't need to use my tracking mount to do astro photography.

      It's such a fantastic camera. I don't think I'd ever switch away from from Pentax at this point because of all the convenience functions they have thoughtfully included. Thanks for watching!

    Hi Tim. Thank you very much for your fantastic tutorials on youtube. I'm following them with great interest. I own a K-1, FA 31mm, and an Irix 15mm F2.4. I'm eager to try the Milky Way and also star trails. Your channel is the ideal place to get started. Thanks so much! Angelo

      @@CapeNightPhotography Tim, could you recommend a moon stacking/alignment program that runs well on Win 10? I see a few candidates available for free on the web. Thanks

    • @CapeNightPhotography

      I have not taken more than 90 so I haven't tried to shoot more than that! :)

    Heading out Monday night to give this a try with the 31mm lens or the FA20mm lens. I believe it's a new moon, so not much light to worry about. What would be a good starting point for aperture & ISO at 30 second intervals, using in-camera compositing function? Seems like the first shot is a guessing game, but you have to wait 40 minutes to get the results. Is there a faster way to determine correct exposure/settings?

    Thanks for another great video on Pentax! I like doing astro photography and thinking about switching to Pentax. I read somewhere that the internal intervalometer cannot be used when make use of the astrotracer. May I know how you manage to take a series of images while using astrotracer? Thanks in advance!

    • @CapeNightPhotography
      @CapeNightPhotography  3 роки тому

      That is correct! I did not use the astrotracer on this shot. I only used the intervalometer function. The intervalometer is fairly limited depending on what mode you’re in unfortunately. Maybe someday they will update the firmware to allow more flexibility.

    Hello, I recently tried out doing star trails with my new(to me) K1 using info from this video. I was wondering if you have a link to the intervalometer you suggest to use with the K1. It seems they are not as readily available as they are for other brands.

    • @CapeNightPhotography
      @CapeNightPhotography  2 роки тому

      This is the one I am using - It seems to share the same connector as some of the cropped sensor canon cameras like the rebels. I hope this helps! www.amazon.com/Neewer-Shutter-Release-Remote-Control/dp/B003Q9RERY/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=pentax+intervalometer&qid=1669069850&sprefix=pentax+inte%2Caps%2C84&sr=8-4
