  • Oh my God, if John Cope were dead, he'd be spinning in his grave when he sees the meatball surgery, we perform on this poor 727, fortunately that's not the case, John is alive and well. Today we're going to try and show what it takes to install a Cope Racing Transmissions, Trans brake full manual reverse pattern valve body. I believe the part number we used was CRT-55X1, let's get into it.

Special shout out and thanks to Jeff and Angie for the 1971 big block 727 Torqueflite core, thanks to Terry for the 66 core, we ended up not using (input shaft difference), and thanks to Andy for his machining skills on our front clutch pressure plate.

Blake if you're carb has the power valve block thing . They only like wide open sometimes. . Like taking metering rods out of a Carter . Vacuum doesn't control fuel mix anymore. . Or distributor drive bushing .

Thanks Max, I believe we installed a 6.5 power valve in place of the plug, we may need to look at this again. We had a distributor bushing on it but I had it installed a little too tight, we'll look at that again also. Thanks again, take care.

What causes the reverse band to break in the 727 had several thanks for the video

Wow several times in the same trans? Not really sure, maybe high idle but I doubt it. I'd give John Cope a call. Only time I've had that happen was on a 318 904 combo in a 68 Barracuda convertible, never abused the car but both reverse band lugs snaped right off.
