- The Toyota FT-1 Concept was at the Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance in Pebble Beach, California during Monterey Car Week 2014.
The Toyota FT-1 Concept is possibly Toyota's future replacement for the Supra or the Celica. FT stands for "Future Toyota" and "1" represents the "ultimate." Toyota has built two FT-1 concepts, this dark silver one and a red one. The red one has been featured on several major automotive outlets including Motor Trend and Jay Leno's Garage.
He doesn't realize he gets the production version of this car
Then slaps a wide body kit with white rims and a purple wrap before selling it to Jeffery Star to buy a P1

@@ns_guy5149 well the cars proportions are completely different. They based the body panel design around the bmw and it honestly just looks weird and unbalanced on its current platform. At least that’s my opinion.

+Daniel K the GT86 was a joint effort from subaru and toyota.
Jokes aside, they did a heck of a good job, both brands.
Subaru was mainly responsible for power train, toyota for chassis and bodywork.
Both brands needed a entry-level drivers-oriented sports car. Subaru wasn't really willing to break with the 4x4 tradition on its own; toyota didn't have a suited enough powerplant for it. The 4 cylinder boxer comes from subaru keeping the gravity center nice and low, the RWD and diff à lá Toyota make the front/back weight ballance be near perfect.
Styling is also on point, IMO. Unless you look at the most recent facelift from toyota, wich is basically a slightly uglier version of the original car.
+rrs Well I do have to agree the 2017 Toyota gt86 looks a bit uglier.... I kinda wish Toyota will make the SFR Because it's supposed to be 10-15k and the weight around 2150lb, which sounds awesome

Eugen Soare you do realize it’s just a rebranded remodeled bmw z4 , it’s smaller than the FT1 , tuned down WAY too much , in terms of aggressiveness , presence , and potential performance .

I don't get concept cars. The designers put in so much time and work into making these concepts and then it all gets thrown away for the production spec car lol

At one point I had hope the FT-1 would come out but now I just realize that this amazing piece of engineering will never go into production sad.
I wrote this comment long before there was any news on the confirmation of the engine size. Toyota putting a 4 cylinder engine in this car was exactly what I was afraid of. I haven't had the chance to look it up, but taking your word for it and hearing this news is a major let down and disappointment. Toyota is completely fucking us because they know what we have been wanting and anticipating.

I don't understand why Toyota is making such a stupid move when its clear what every fan wants out of this a V6 or V8. I don't see anybody clamoring for a bullshit 4 cylinder in such a beautiful sport car. If they wanna make it a hybrid OK fine but at least make it a 650hp V6 hybrid.
Nafir Alvarez how about they just give it a classic 6 cylinder,, like a real supra, because a 4 banger will make everyone think that its just a turbocharged, better looking FR-S/FT-86... which people are already starting to think,,.

it will be most likely 50-60 grand. if not 80+. you should check out the frs/brz/gt86. with a super charger or a turbo, it is one of the best track cars ever built for under 30 grand
Brandon Harper I have the FRS, I left mine stock no turbo needed, it is perfect the way it is don't care about the straight line speed that is for barbarians to me :) I want this parked next to it lol. As for pricing even if it is that expensive I still want one. However, considering the Lexus RC F is $62,000 I doubt Toyota would price this higher than that. I'm expecting $50,000 tops.

Lain Hiro that is a lame article....the website is just some random unofficial Toyota site that has zero sources and has no real Toyota representatives.. Not saying the FT-1 couldn't end up costing that much, but I sincerely doubt it, it wouldn't make the most business sense for Toyota.

Also, Car & Driver claims an inside source from Toyota said it would be more expensive than a base Corvette

...if that is a real source, then it is good news for them to use the Corvette as the comparison point rather than saying it would be more than expensive than something like a Porsche 911 which would then definitely infer a price tag of close to $100 K.

I've had my eye on this car also I'm the current owner of an FR-S. Even still at that price point I might as well get a Stingray. The local Toyota dealer was mentioning a convertible turbo version of the FR-S due this year but I am starting to think he was full of crap :P In any case, I cant wait to get more info on this car, time to start saving :D

I fell in-love with the whole design of this car. But if they ever make this into production, it needs little tweeking. 1, they need to hide those front fans. It'll be like looking at a highly modified gaming PC with fans sticking out lol. 2nd, there is no cup holder inside if you've noticed it lol. That is important for a production car! But other than that, I want this car in my garage soon! :P
The head of Toyota said he wanted to make the production version a fun car "not everyone out there is a professional racecar driver"
