      Be adaptive with the amounts. Depending the time of year and actions of the cows changes the concentration I make the mix. In warmer months I find a more concentrated solutions works better.

      @@drarlandhill that makes perfect sense i almost couldn't get them to drink it till the last month or so. I bet it was too concentrated. Not they drink it pretty readily. Im in central Texas

      @@masonbaylorbears In the cooler months now I have started putting the salt back in a moveable covered bin feeder vs. mixing it with water in the trough because the consumption was so low. You will know when to go back to mixing it in the trough as the cows will start hitting the covered bin feeder harder. I have not found that it was worth my time to mix in the winter.

      @completecarewellness thats great to know. Ill have to try that. I also have some natural soda i give them that probably needs some changes for time of year also. And ASV intake seems to be on and off also

      @@drarlandhill i also want to thank you for your videos. I was searching for regenerative in Texas and found your talk with Doug Winters, i contacted them and it changed everything. I now have land cows and rotate them almost solely from that video with doug about his longhorns

    any updates on sea salt mineral program. we are fixing to give it a try

      I still use it. This past year I did not add the salt to water and make a brine with it. I find that my cows consume enough without the necessity of the brine. I keep it available free choice and move it with them in a round covered three bin feeder on skids.

      @@drarlandhill awesome are you using water to make your brine? Are you feeding any other minerals or just salt, did you notice improvement in cows

      I just reread what you said I got ya just putting it out dry im guessing. I was thinking went from in water tank to putting brine in feeder its been a long day.

      @@johngan3652 I originally started using it in a brine, but have found the cattle to use nearly the same amount whether it is in brine or free choice in a feeder. I think it is helping them. I don't have the annoying problems with our animals that can come along with nutrient deficiencies. Not very scientific, but based on observation, the program is meeting my objectives.

    Does dumping the water trough to clean out kill the grass?

      I have not had any issues with it killing the grass.

      Me either, no issues. I am using a similar product also.

      I'm using this method, too, with an locally available All-stock mineral salt. I just found Redmunds Selenium minerals thru Azure for a reasonable price.

    What is the analysis for the mineral content in this salt?

    • @drarlandhill
      @drarlandhill  2 роки тому +1

      As a natural product there is going to be some variation. It would be anticipated to be around 85% NaCl and 15% other minerals as with most sea salts.
