Love all the beautiful things you found especially the mirrors! 😊 The minerals however are artificially coloured geodes that are naturally white or more neutral coloured. I paid about 6€ for one from a moroccan wholesaler at a mineral show.
I hear you on the shopping haha I'm also a huge backpacker but in Morocco and Guatemala most of my budget was spent on shopping. It was too hard to resist! In November, I did basically all of my Christmas shopping in Morocco because everything was so cool!
Totally recommend! Next time try shopping in Fez. It's the largest Medina in Morocco (and the world I believe) and you'll want to buy everything@@BackpackingBananas
The floor cushions are beautiful. Maybe you could have got something cheaper, but I think it is much better to have found something you really love and to have paid a fair price for the local people's expert craftsmanship!
Haha couldn't agree more! In Morocco, your bargaining skills are worth more than your bank account. Prepare to haggle like a pro and emerge victorious with a fez full of treasures and enough dirhams left for another round of mint tea. The last time I visited this country was way before I started throwing dart at the world map. Now that it's my 14th year of throwing, I am looking forward to hit this one of these days!
Thanks for sharing! This is my kind of trip! ❤ especially the shopping. Your home will look so cool and be filled with memories. I think the stars are flowers, many cacti have flowers in spring! How lovely! 🌵🏜️❤️
I loved your Morrocco series and always love these wrap up videos, they're so helpful ☺️ also very much appreciate the conversion to AUD, that's a rare find on videos so thanks for including us hehe 🫶
The best thing is travelling around Morocco by renting a car. And definitely exploring the northern part. I'm doing my intership here for the moment and i love it ;)
Second comment on your videos after i accidentally stumbled across your channel I truly believe it's all about your intentions, if you come to Morocco with good intentions, good vibes and a pure heart like the one you have, everything you touch will turn into something beautiful, keep it positive, don't think much of the negative stuff and enjoy yourself is the essence of traveling!!
Haha girl, I’m pretty sure the rocks are clear quartz and they’ve dyed them those colours cause I’ve not seen any natural amethyst look that colouring haha BUT they are super gorgeous anyway and quartz is still great and yep, is natural!
those mirrors will look so good againt each other .. like the sun and the moon! also those geodes are real but the colour isn't .. but I am a geologist and I still think geodes are very cool!
Hi friend! Im from the states! I’m leaving in 5 months and backpacking across EU and Asia. I plan to be gone for a long period of time! Been binge watching your videos! Thanks for the tips! ❤️
People are actually appreciating bargaining instead of having fixed prices. Travel be funny and smart to get stuff at a lower price and this is the beauty of Moroccan Souks ❤️🇲🇦 hope you are having a great experience and welcome anytime ✨
I was supposed to fly out on the 12th of September for an 11 day trip, including the merzougha desert 3 day trip and the 2 day Atlas Mountains trek. Unfortunately the earthquake on the 8th made this impossible so I went to Croatia instead.
Not sure if you’ve answered this in another video, but how do you transport the things you buy back home? Especially if you were flying? I’m trying to figure out how many souvenirs I can bring back on a trip
Hello Christianne, Thanks for sharing this financial breakdown-sounds like great value! What a gorgeous haul for your £237 odd-lovely pieces, especially as they are delighting you!😃 My question to you is how on earth did you get them all home? I watched your backpack packing video for this one, and although I love and agree that your backpack is truly awesome, there didn’t seem to be that much room left at the end!?🤣 Kindly, Sharlot🌻
Hope everything is okay. You upload normally so frequently and it’s been a month. I hope it’s just house hunting that has you busy and nothing worse has happened. ❤
Mynew budget would be less than 1k a month inc flights accom food. If only all countries hostels were so cheap, only found Morocco India and Turkey s few hostels value. Mexico found too much as hostels had literally a small useless fan yet in reception a nice aircon unit. I didnt want to take taxis but stimes no other option...I dont drink alcohol hardly anymore to save costs. Believe me they do drink in Morocco but in New town rather than old town with souks. Some days would just walk around and eat a snack but Morocco has everything .. I bartered like crazy and stillvwear a tiny silver and turquoise ring for 4 euro...Lovely mug so well made and sthing you would definitely use.. floor cushions even more beautiful...❤
So nice to watch this video, really want to go back. i was just wondering about what you said about the bars. I went out every night! To a club, rooftop bar, cafes with live music aaaaaand with locals. There are a lot of Maroccan people who drink alcohol, they can choose to. Ofcourse less then the English or Dutch ;) but still Marrakech is a very modern city with a modern nightlife and you can find them all on google.
The crystals are definitely "fake". I use quote marks because I don't mean completly manmade. They're just not what you were told. They're both the same stone, a cheaper crystal that takes dye well, dyed different colours. They're still cute though. Source: Stereotypical celtic pagan of many generations 😂❤
I wasn’t really on the lookout for jewellery but I remember seeing lots of handmade stuff that was inexpensive. I’m not so sure about the gold/silver etc though, I don’t remember seeing many shops
When I went to Morocco last summer to visit my family I also filled up my suitcase with deco bits from all the zouks 🎉 I even got two of the huge leather floor cushions. 😂 There is one in Casablanca called “Habous Market”. All these pieces are handmade and I would say you got a decent price for them ❤️
I was eyeing up the leather ones aswell! 😍😍 everything was just SO nice! Ah thank you, I’m very pleased you think I got a good price as I was really none-the-wiser 😅
love this detailed breakdowns of the cost ! So helpful! I’m curious did you send all your shopping goodies on a separate luggage ? They can’t have fit in your backpack lol
Omg how did you get this all home with you? I was in Morocco last week and really had to hold myself back, since I had no space in my luggage for carpets, cushions etc.
Does anyone know where the video is of backpacking bananas using her tentbox on her own and with a gazebo where she prepared some food and stuff? Ive been searching for it but cannot find. Was thinking of getting one and want to rewatch!
Must be visiting city’s of North Morocco Avril/Mai (Chefchaouen-Tetouan-Tangier-Assilah…). Believe me You will enjoyed P.S: I’m not shame 2 see it over the worldwide YOU HAVE A AMAZING EYES
I found it to be very safe. As far as I was aware, no one tried to steal from me or scam me. But being a bit street-wise will always help to spot in advance if someone IS trying to scam or steal from you
We were staying in dorm rooms! So actually, it wouldn’t have made a difference and would’ve been the same price if we were travelling solo ☺️ it was just nice that we got to share a dorm room 😅
Hi next time yu want to go to agadir I have for yu a nice flat for rent fully furniture it is about 25 minute from al massera agadir airport .10 minute to the sea buy taxi..maney thanks
Ok, as a Moroccan this scares me a bit. How can we manage to afford so much for so little? I think people should be happy to pay more for these facilities. 14£ on average is insanely low :( Hope next time you'll add a line with tips to the people working there and add a 100£ on that.
You know I was staying in hostel dorm rooms and not fancy hotels right? 😅 £14 per night is in my experience, about an average price worldwide for that kind of accommodation.
Market barging- Ya its not fun And feels you with guilt but remember that ifyou pay the lical price yove done nothing wrong. go to the most locals market in which they have what you're looking for from the start thers better prices And follow the locals how they barg You ask for price, you walk away or not and than theyl call you back or not give them your 25%, play the game and don't show too much enthusiasm and as if you would walk away... On some very greedy ones it wouldn't work and depends on their mood, That's why in advance i would usually go to those whom are less central located and that seems nice and more local not so much touristy
Oh no... I'm afraid you overpaid for the rocks. They're both artificially dyed moroccan geodes, which is quartz. Worth about $5 AUD or roughly 3 pounds each.
To be honest, as a Moroccan I'm ashamed that there is even Alcohol being served. We don't like to be westernized, apart from science/technology, we see western society/culture as degenr8
Morocco was never on my travel wish list but I think that just changed
it's sad to see moste people have a bad idea about Morocco but the good thing is everybody falls in love and wants to go back ❤
Love all the beautiful things you found especially the mirrors! 😊
The minerals however are artificially coloured geodes that are naturally white or more neutral coloured. I paid about 6€ for one from a moroccan wholesaler at a mineral show.
i think those rocks are likely both quartz that’s been dyed but they are still very pretty! morocco is known for fake geodes. still lovely for decor
Hey Christianne, the geodes are just dyed clear crystal although super pretty 😊
all these Morocco vids are definitely inspiring me to go there myself! totally planning it right now! :)

They're cactus flowers, not stars :)

I fill floor cushions with extra bedding, seasonal clothing - I just put them in a plastic bag inside to protect them and keep smells out

Ah yes, flowers would make more sense than stars 😅
Enjoying these videos and I definitely want to go there. You didn’t include the cost of packaging these purchased items up and sending back to the UK?
It cost me £22 to send my friend home with an extra cabin bag and I stuffed it all in there 😅
