Nice Radio welcome back ! I dont think I could have done it live ! I lose my train of thought when I start a video ! hopefully things will improve once I can start editing out all the boring bits out of my videos !
There's so much more to think about and to try and be aware of doing live Benji. It was a lot harder and stressful than I imagined it would be. Kudos to Graham for doing it flawlessly every week. There is a follow up video to this one, stay tuned, it'll be uploaded later!
@@Codeeze I can well imagine as I feel a bit stressed when I start a video and like you say Kudo's to Graham for doing it Live even when things dont go as planned he's still professional and manages to fix it live ! look forward to your next vid !
Thanks David - I like easy - they don't happen often! - we all had a great time doing 'Sunday Live'. Challenging, but memorable - so glad to have done it, and in the best of company too. I think Shaun might have enjoyed it just a 'smidge' more...
This is one of my most liked Roberts and i have 2 had a problem with station drifting on both solved the problem by switching off the AFC tune in then put the AFC back on they work well
Nice Job Paul You Were Very Lucky You Did Not Have To Do The Module I Have 4 707s And I Did The Module In One And It Was a Nightmare But I Fixed It The Second One Was Like Yours And Only Needed The Switches Cleaned The Last 2 707s Need The Modules Done Building Up Courage To Do Them In The Future. Regards mike
Thanks Mike, I can do the modules, but choose not to if not needed. I'm not afraid of tackling them, hesitant would be more accurate for me... 😂 Default diagnosis is often the modules, but some switch cleaner, button mashing & patience can often yield a welcome surprise!
@@Codeeze i keep trying to track down a good old stock module , plus make a test rig for them, so i can get one working ready to fit, then can repair the one removed, etc. i got hold of a box of 10 of the fm tuner units some years ago
Very nice looking radio. That was my kinda radio repair. It is great to ot have to go deep into diagnostics to reapir such a noce radio. I am confident you have the skill and technology but it is two thumbs up for sure as you've said. Congrats on an easy repair. Just a little more pot cleaning and it will be good.
Thanks Andy! - It isn't often I get an easy R707 - this one even has a good headphone socket! Another video to follow on my procedure for cleaning & polishing the teak ends... stay tuned
@@Codeeze Yeah, I noticed you have a few Robert's radios kicking about. They certainly look great and nice conversation pieces. I look forward to the finish work on this radio my friend. Good luck.
these beasts commonly suffer from shorting AF11x transistors, as others using same types do... i have one with the issue(plus other problems) but pain in the bum to do
Certainly a hint of things to come. I wonder if they're all like that. You might have a collectors item there like that famous stamp with the upside down airplane on it.
I have a Roberts duologic radio, I haven’t used it for many years, and I recently bought a new mains cable, plugged it in and it comes on but won’t do anything but show charge light and solid matrixes. Tried everything the manual suggests but no joy. I don’t use batteries with it and the charge switch is in the off position. Any ideas?
Hi Jim, sadly DAB is not my area of expertise when it comes to radio. I have dabbled with DAB however, and the faulty ones I have had across my bench, usually have at least one of the following: Faulty capacitor, faulty integrated circuit, dry solder joints, voltage regulation, faulty DAB module... the list goes on... It's sadly not something I can give much advice on. I'd welcome you to send it to me for a look-see, but there are no guarantees on resolving any issues present. Those components are just so tiny, and my eyes aren't what they used to be!
I'm in Lancashire Jim. My email is on my 'about' page - usually only viewable from a PC for some bizarre reason... ua-cam.com/channels/wK3n7yIYtPhT1awzPyG9NQ.htmlabout?view_as=subscriber
On the switch assembly there is a horizontal metal rail, which has a sliding bar and spring mechanism. Sometimes, just a spray of electrical contact cleaner is enough to get the switches to latch again. Don't use WD40 or similar!

You were both great. Shaun will be robbing that...it's got a leather handle ;-)
He'll be salivating over that stitching :-D
Thanks! We loved doing it! Shaun will have to wait, I like it too 😀
Nice easy fix, the best repairs.
Thanks Wenlock, you really have to have faith in switch cleaner, it took a bit of button-mashing to get her going this time - I was thinking 'module'!
Thankfully it wasn’t, but they are notorious in these.
Nice radio ,such an easy repair, wish they were all like that !

Here's a piece of trivia Paul. The label on the module has the word replacement spelled wrong. Wonder how that slipped through the factory? ATB Doug.
Thanks Doug! So the modules were 'faulty' from the get-go! 😀

'Replacemtent' - I shall do some research...
I have one of these, but the volume fades up and down. Could you show me how you would go about this? Many thanks

Codeeze thanks for your reply, much appreciated. The radio was my late father’s, otherwise, I’d just buy another. Be safe. 👍🏼
No worries Jim. If you'd like for me to take a look, let me know 📻👍
Codeeze what part of the country are you in?

I’ve got one of these where the band selector buttons won’t latch. Can’t work out how they work.

That was a cheap fix Paul. I love those no cost jobs.
Can't beat no cost jobs George! They don't happen often enough though! Watching your Regentone 'series' with interest. Thanks for watching
Well that was easy! I suppose it was a fiver too! :)
I like easy Andrew - I don't get too many of them though! - it was more than a fiver, there was postage as well 😉
