Lyrics
Hey!
Everybody's lookin' for somethin'
Somethin' to fill in the holes
We think a lot but don't talk much about it
'Till things get out of control, oh!
How do I know when it's love?
I can't tell you but it lasts forever
Oh! How does it feel when it's love?
It's just somethin' you feel together
When it's love
You look at every face in a crowd
Some shine and some keep you guessin'
Waiting for someone to come into focus
Teach you your final love lesson
Ooh!
How do I know when it's love?
I can't tell you but it lasts forever
Oh! How does it feel when it's love?
It's just something you feel together
(Oh oh oh oh) Oh, when it's love
(Oh oh oh oh) You can feel it, yeah!
(Oh oh oh oh) Nothin's missin', yeah!
(Guitar Solo)
(Oh oh oh oh) Yeah, you can feel it
(Oh oh oh oh) Oh, when it's love
(Oh oh oh oh) When nothin's missing, ow!
How do I know when it's love?
I can't tell you but it lasts forever
Ooh, how does it feel when it' love?
It's just something you feel together, hey!
How do I know when it's love?
I can't tell you but it lasts forever
When it's love
Ooh, when it's love
Hey! It'll last forever
(Na na na-ah na na)
When it's love
(Na na na-ah na na)
(Na na na-ah na na)
(Na na na-ah na na)
You and I, we're gonna feel this thing together
(Na na na-ah na na) (repeat to end)
When it's love, ooh
When it's love, baby
You can feel it, yeah!
We'll make it last forever
Ooh-ooh, when it's love
DLR can't hold a candle to Sammy's vocal abilities. Sammy sent Van Halen into a completely different and superior level 👌
Well said!
🙌🏻
I guess, if you like radio friendly pop instead of what van halen originally was.
Absolutely agree, been around long enough to see original Mammoth, and all versions of VH., and Sammy without a doubt brought outstanding vocals, and oh yeah, not bad on the guitar either. Very well said, Sammy did just that, Superior level 🎸🎤
Amen!!!! 🖤🤘🏼
I first heard this song in 1988. I looked at my friend and said, that is a perfect song. I'm 52, now, and I still believe that.
I.m 59 and remember like it was yesterday when I saw Sammy and the guys on the 5150 tour !!!Incredible show !!!
Wondering if Van Halen members ever read these comments & realize how much they mean to the rest of us???
I mean, we all live different lives, Eddie Van Halen has already been gone since October 6th, 2020.
then there’s me tonight with 25 years of marriage to my high school sweetheart, and then there’s YOU reading this comment; so many others. All only connected (frozen) by this sound in time.
I pray this band understands the depth of the lives they’ve touched; some gone and some at the halfway mark in life, and others just beginning.
We’re singing this decades after they recorded this. 🎼 which released June 1988, when I was only 9 years old. Today I’m 42 years old as I wrote my comment tonight. I hope I’m 89 years old reading this years from now seeing others still celebrating this timeless classic.
Sammy Hagar
Nov 27, 2009
Sammy Hagar was the best thing that happened to that band. And his voice was awesome
I sure do miss the 70’s & 80’s. Sometimes, I wish I could find a time machine and go back in time. Life was much easier. Is this your favorite song ?
That was Eddie's best move to have Sammy in the band and Eddie' worst decision to get rid of Sammy
Nonsense
You said that and I whole heartedly agree. I saw them in boulder Colorado at the monsters of rock, anybody else see them there, btfl night, the band made me smile and that feeling has been there forever, thank you, r.i.p Eddie, we love you all!!!!
Say what you want. Hagar brought Van Halen to an entirely different level. What a voice!
What a rockin personality too! Such a party dude!
Damn straight 👍
SAMMY HAGAR ROCKS.

In 50 Years We All May Be Forgotten, just like the 1920's...
Best of times to all that lived the awesome 80s
My parents divorced and my mom and I moved cross country when this album came out. I was so lonely and miserable in HS, I had to leave behind my other siblings and all my friends. it was bad. When I bought this tape it turned me around. IDK, just listening to my rock heroes play such beautiful love songs reset my heart. No way to thank VH but they helped save a very depressed teens life ❤
They will save the world.
SAMMY AT ITS BEST. One of the greatest vocalists of all time in my opinion. So underrated.
He sure does have soul. I ❤ VanHagar.
@@stephenierussell4142 I know it's not a popular opinion, but Sammy > Dave.
Hell yes
the 80's MTV era rocked !
Sammy epitomizes COOL
Michael Anthony's back up vocals are so great and underrated
Thanks ❤
what?
Michael Anthony's voice is so underrated . He could have sung lead easily and been better than David Lee Roth. His voice technique and rangr is better than Sammy's but Sammy has such excitement in his voice.
DLR is good for throwaway songs.
Kevin I said the same! To say Michael Anthony was and still is grrreat.. an understatement! ❤

Eddie, absolutely brilliant. Sammy's voice could power a spaceship to another galaxy. Fantastic song!!!!!!

@@sammyhagar9424 god bless you
David Lee vocals made van halen songs classic, but Sammy"s vocals plus videos are soul stealing. Thanx Sammy! Liked when you took Dan Rather for a ride!
Sammy fitted well in Chickenfoot. He NEVER fitted in VH EVER. Van Hagar = Yawn boring typical standard pop rock girly ballad music CRAP. Wasn't a "rock band" or heavy metal band whatsoever anymore once Hagar joined the band. Total different genre of BORING music. Standard Pop rock GIRLY ballad type music. 🤦♂😫🤮
everytime i hear this song my mind automatically transform back to the 80's where the only important thing about life is to have fun.🤗🤗🤗
This album was the soundtrack to my teens in the mid 90's and my first major crush. My bro had copied the album off a friend and I played it to death.
My favorite VH song of all time
Nothing better than VH and the 80's music of happy, fun and simpler good times
Man, I understand you very much.
it should still be the only important thing
Sorry Mr. Roth but this is exactly what Van Halen needed back in the 80's.
1988
I miss the 80s, I met my wife on a blind date in 1984. We were married 35 years starting in 1986. She passed from covid last year. I hear this song and think of her. She walked into my life. Loved, loved, loved the 80s, magical decade.
This takes me back to the summer of 1988 at 16 years old. Now I'm pushing 51 and still love this song! Great memories.
Me also. I'm 51 and boy we had fun back then. Greetings from Slovenia. 👍🇸🇮

Sammy has the pipes.
Van Hagar gave the world a finished product. Van Halen gave the locals rock n roll.
One of my favorite songs, but what I love most about this video is watching Eddie Van Halen having such a blast. He was always smiling and full of joy.
He enjoyed what he did
Thanks ❤
Yes he definitely did 🙂💜
My all time favorite. VH music was way better with Sammy, more depth. JMVHO, sorry DLR fans.
The whole band is smiling here, it’s great to see that.
Eddie always looked like he was having the time of his life playing…. Always happy!! RIP Eddie, Such talent gone too soon
Sammy had/has one of the best rock n' roll voices of all time.

Best Van Halen ever. RIP Ed you are missed !

Dave was better lol
Thank you I couldn't remember when He passed away I have total memory loss I suffer from that I have to take medication for it
RIP Eddie...one of the greatest guitarists of all time. And I've always felt that Van Halen was much better with Sammy than David...my personal opinion tho
Too soon still
So sad that Eddie left us today. Such a loss at such a young age, 65.
A sad day for rock music as a whole

So shocked and saddened to lose Eddie.
RIP Eddie 🙏
I was working in a house recently and the homeowner was in the music industry. We started talking about music,he took me in a huge bonus room and mounted on the ceiling was numerous guitars signed by all the Greats. Right in the middle was Eddie's Michael's and Sammy's guitar's man I had to hold my emotions seeing Eddie's guitar. Rest in Paradise Eddie.
Eddies guitar is worth a shit load of money now
Beyond the epic of awesomeness right there. RIP EDDIE!
@@cynthiakelly5020 We Love you Eddie and Sammy, Michael,Alex, and David. Thank you for incredible memories .
@@anthonyramalhoso2609 Probably wasn’t one of his actual guitars, just one signed by him.
One of my all-time favourite songs! The searing vocals, the tasteful, not overblown production and mix, the synths, the backing vocals, the melodies and lyrics, the drums which just don’t sound like any other drummer or band… And best of all, that solo! So full of blues, beautiful neck pickup sound, and I love how it sounds like Eddie’s grabbed a guitar he wanted to use, but it has really old strings; the intonation is slightly off on the high notes which somehow just makes it even better, I love it! I miss these guys so much, especially with Sammy on vocals.
Thanks ❤
@@sammyhagar9424 you were/are awesome in Chickenfoot. Sorry, wasn't a fan of the HUGE change in music style of VH with you in the band. VH went from a hard rock metal band to a standard ballad song based pop rock band for the most part. But I respect your singing & talent regardless. Chickenfoot rocks! So fitting a band for you. And it ROCKS. I wonder how come Chickenfoot has such an awesome sound with you and VH was just so-so more mellow stuff. I mean to my ears anyways. Still much respect to you Sammy.
Yes indeed!!
I love your music and I was blessed to get the first and second ticket to the balance tour in Pensacola in 1995.Spring Break Rocks.HH
Any band would sky rocket to the top with Sammy Hagar, I saw him in concert in the 80’s he was amazing ❤

Van Halen's just on another level.
i made it to level 57 but i lost count.

Yes. Just watched the videos about the Sammy/Dave story and the elephant in the room is: Eddie is a genius and we wouldn't be anything if it wasn't for him. No Eddie, no Van Halen, no Story. As you say, that's just another level.
Van Halen you've created that sound that definitely change the music industry, Sammy you got one hell of a voice
Outstanding performance....when it's real you feel it...as pure as it gets

Ahhh. The sounds of the 80's...a glorious time!
Sammy was perfect for Van Halen's maturity stage in their career. They made great songs like these and still rocked. OU812!
Besides, his voice was way better than David Lee Roth's voice.
You got that right.
Luis S Van Halen love walks
Yes, you nailed it.They grew up and we did also ! Cheers.
Absolutely, saw them in Spielberg/Austria 92 and never saw another show, where a band spreaded a greater enthusiasm, they hat a lot of joy playing togehter and you could feel it. They blew the main act, Bon Jovi, from the stage :)
Sammy Hagar is a fantastic rock singer. and the perfect voice for the band.
Thank God I grew up in the 80's, the music was amazing and we all knew something special was happening. Cheers!:)
Van Halen, the soundtrack of my life!
The chemistry and synergy between these guys was palpable.
lightning in a bottle, dude.
That's probably also why they broke up. That same chemistry...

2021 and this song still takes me back... I miss the 80s. What a full blown blast they were!
Damn straight! The 80s were awesome--I saw VH during the Roth days (VH2 and WACF tours), and I like both "versions" of VH--with Roth, with Hagar. But damn, the music was so crazy, fun, different--so many great genres and MTV actually played music videos. I'll sound like an old grump but the music for the last 20 years has turned into predictable, algorithm-driven autotuned crap that sounds mostly the same, manufactured and packaged with no originality. I never thought I would have lived through what I think was the best and craziest decade(s) of music--80s and even some of the 90s!
right there with you brother!

yup GVF
@Dartgame 340 the only close genre to "rock music" anymore is really in jazz-rock-fusion bands. Check out Scott Henderson & Tribal Tech albums/CDs. I only got into the band Tribal Tech because of a sticker on a Tribal Tech CD where Eddie said that Scott Henderson was the best guitar player he ever heard.

Best version of Van Halen right here!!!
Mike Anthony great bass and vocals
As I like to remind my best friend, this is Van Halen with their best singer. I just like the Hagar music a little better overall. There were certainly some great songs with Diamond Dave as well. Great band that lasted the test of time, hits in multiple decades, and has touched multiple generations of people. Clearly one of the greatest rock bands of all time.
I know you don't really think David Lee Roth is a better singer then Sammy Hagar even Eddie Van Halen said in a interview that Sammy was the better singer David Lee Roth had more energy but that was probably because of some high grade cocaine
To me The Sammy Hagar time was phenomenal and the epitome of summer .
@@lloydgilpin8403, I agree.
DLR was a good singer, but he stood out as a showman. Hagar was a great singer.
Some people are stuck up in original line ups of bands. smh
Well said my friend.
I don't really think of them as one of the greatest of all time. Not like a Zeppelin or Beatles but a great band in some aspects I guess. Sammy was definitely a better overall singer and this song is so good. Diamond Dave brought the "showman" aspect to them but Sammy is overall more talented and I like his demeanor, sense of humor and his overall singing style.way better. He was a star even before he joined this band
RIP eddie, greatest in almost 4 generations
When i was in the army this song helped me through the times i missed my babe. This song reminds me that she was the love of my live at that time. Eddie Van Halen said that the band Tribal Tech and the guitarist Scott Henderson in that band was the best guitarist and the most musically talented band he had ever heard. FACT Eddie said that. And it's the truth. The only reason people don't know who Scott Henderson & Tribal is, is because they never had a lead vocalist and they are a jazz-rock-fusion band. Actually "The Led Zeppelin" band of fusion.
Eddie's back-up vocals & his profile & hands at the keyboard & guitar solo just slays me. My heart breaks yet rejoices for having lived in the best decade of all when Van Halen was teaching us about love.
God bless ya, Ed...
The first Van HAGAR song that got me HOOKED!!
Can't say enough about Sammy Hagar. Van Halen made the best choice when they pulled him out of his solo career. Sammy has a voice that is intense yet beautiful.
