Love the gun apparatus you used for clamming. It really seemed to work well. Beautiful place to clam. Oh wow, they did expel a lot of sand. Loved seeing the whole process. The meal fit for a king since your queen can’t have any of the clams. 😂😂. Yum! Be safe, Bill and DeAnna
Razor clam techniques in Washington State sound like a fascinating adventure. Learning the art of catching these delicacies and then cooking them is a true culinary experience. I can almost taste the freshness and brininess of the sea. Thanks for sharing this exciting catch-and-cook journey! 🌊🍴
What a beautiful experience to be out on the beach in the cold weather watching the crashing waves and harvesting delicious clams. The sounds of the ocean roaring is wonderful. It's nice that they test the water there and you can feel safe. It was neat to see the process of preparing the clams, they look delicious. New England clam chowder is my fave. Looks amazing. 👍👍👌👌
Wow Loved this video!!! Those razor clams looked really great!! Nice recipe for the soup as well. It would be tasty even without the clams. Love the way that you use up all the clams with no waste. So happy to see you enjoying all of these wonderful things during your adventures. Thanks for continuing to share this wonderful journey. God bless and safe travels!!
Excellent video. Liked how you showed us the whole process. I was surprised at how far down you had to press/dig. You guys did so well for your first time razor clamming.
That was such an interesting video! I have never seen how you catch clams! Then how you clean them, and prepare them. Great video full of new things for me to learn. - Michelle
Glad you have enjoyed so many of our gifts along the coast. The chowder looked good. Next time you are in town another really good one is go to Seaside Oregon andngonto Doogers and buy the chowder kit all you need is the cream and the clams to add to the kit. Would love to know what you think but yours looked awesome I have just grown up on Doogers and its Rons favorite and we like seeing what other people think. Glad your loving the PNW!
Struth - that seems like too much effort for me. I'm getting lazy these days. Give me my beachcaster any day Have a good weekend friends from Paul & Kathy GB 🤝👍😊
So interesting, it was the first time watching harvesting razor clam using your technique. It look so much fun. So perfect for the first time and first experience harvesting razor clam. Good advice that the broken one also still perfectly good to eat. The razor clam does stay so deep in the sand. It is also something we like to try too in the future. It is very rare to see razor clam being sold at our local market nowadays. Maybe most of it taken by the seafood restaurants.
Looks like you two had a great time finding those razor clams. I didn’t not know that clam chowder is made from potatoes soup - but it made perfect sense now. Great video 15:15
Yeah the deal on if a clam is safe and why they test is certain algae sometimes bloom that have a small amount of toxins. Since clams are filtering this, it gets concentrated in the clam doing it no harm but can make someone eating them sick. So sometimes they are safe one place, and not another not too far away. Razor clams aren't particularly tender, so usually we take ours and pound them out, sort of like a chicken fried steak and deep fry. I love em. And yes, the overnight bucket with seawater is needed for all clams I've had on the Washington coast. Some people even put some cornmeal in so they filter that in while they expel the sand. Too bad your wife has the allergy :( but at least she could try her hand at using a clam gun. :)
Good job getting those razor clammy ducky goos!!! You need to bring my fat a$$ along next time to drive that harvester into the sand! Dude that clam chowda looks AMAZING!!!!
I really enjoyed this one. Funnily, I have a fish allergy, but I'm fine with shellfish. It's a strange world. Thanks for sharing.
We're glad to have you along with us!
