      戦時下にも、
      敵国白人を相手にして、尚も。

      Map of Japan in 1910s~1920s

    • @thepunisher2988
      @thepunisher2988 2 роки тому +20

@@lumiukkosama Don't change it. It is historically accurate, and must be remembered as such.
I don't see it as a tribute to the Meiji Period, but rather as an accurate representation of the final result of the Meiji Restoration.
The Meiji government finally merged Korea with Japan with the 'Japan-Korea Treaty of 1910' (the official title of the treaty in Japanese literally translates to 'Korea Merger Treaty'), and that actually made every Korean a Japanese citizen.
This is more or less equivalent to the merger of Germany and Austria into just one nation by the Nazi government.
Before the Japan-Korea Treaty of 1910, Korea was administered as a colony, but the Meiji Government did all sorts of political manipulation to 'merge' the two nations most likely to start slowly amassing troops in the Korean peninsula as a staging ground for an invasion of Manchuria.
If true, this means the then Japanese government were thinking about invading China a couple decades ahead...
Meiji Restoration brought modernization to Japan, but also greed at the same time.
Nothing in the universe is completely positive with no side effects, a national development is by no means an exception.
Nations need to always keep themselves in check during development, otherwise the driving force (ie. desire for prosperity) behind the development will get the better of them and make them do a lot of reckless things.
Unfortunately, the post-war Japan seems to have let their driving force get the better of them again, this time resulting in a bubble economy followed by an economic stagnation which continues to this day.
I wonder whether Japan would have been infamous for its high suicide rate had Japan kept their driving force in check and had maintained a steady pace of development.
We will never know, but I have a feeling that there would have been far less demoralized people than now at least.
I know hindsight is always 20/20, but why don't people use that 20/20 hindsight for envisioning the future?
I wish more people realize this, and if keeping the map AS IS will force people to start asking questions, maybe some of them will study further and come to the same understanding as I did, and maybe some of them will go on to lead us all to a better future.

My Lord, my Lord, what is that?
Fluttering In front of the horse
Go all the way, all the way.

    That means "Conquer the enemies"
Don't you know about "The Brocade Flag"?
Go all the way, all the way.

To the enemy who‘re going against
    The Mikado of whole realm
Go all the way, all the way.

    Satsuma, Choshu, Tosa don't miss
    That target and keep firing
Go all the way, all the way.

    The well known Kanto samurais
When I ask which way they ran
Go all the way, all the way.

They abandoned their castle and spirit
Then fled to Azuma, I heard
Go all the way, all the way.

    Even nobody really mean it
Kicking out them or killing people
Go all the way, all the way

'Cos they oppose the advance party
Of Satsuma, Choshu, Tosa, and Hizen23
Go all the way, all the way

Even though I'm Japanese, I don't understand what the lyrics of the song exactly mean.
This is because most of these songs at that time were written in classical Japanese, which is far from the modern one.
So I always understand the meaning from the English lyrics lol.
