Jason in the band, Gibson Explorer guitars, tight black cloths, long hairs, white and black drum kit, huge toms... Even Lars playing properly... That's my Metallica!
The super fake Snynister gates james does use that guitar, in the making of HTSD you can clearly see that he still has the guitar and records with it. He doesn't use it live that much anymore for the same reason Kirk doesn't use his Rhoads V anymore, its because he wants to use his signature model.
I know Jason had big shoes to fill after Cliff’s death but I would argue that Rob had even bigger shoes to fill. Jason was a great bassist in Metallica but his energy and performance on stage will forever be unmatched. I like Rob, I do, but man do I miss Jason. This was the golden era of Metallica.
Very wise my friend. Jason could never replace Cliff in his bandmates eyes and those of us who saw Metallica before Jason but Rob had to replace Jason after the majority of Metallicas fans had only known Metallica with Jason. Rob is a very good bassist and I believe he is a great guy and Metallica works with Rob at the end of their careers. Having said that no one will ever match Jasons pure energy, joy and love of the music and fans. Actually I stand corrected the only person to match Jasons love for the fans and the music is the one and only Lemmy (RIP) Pretty damn good company. I can tell you know your music and Metallica. My respect to you.
Yeah...i miss Jason too. His energy is different. Watch them once@Load Tour 96@Manchester UK. Such a memory...and i got Kirk's guitar pick...😁...& i still have the ticket...
Jason is somehow heavier and more menacing a presence with short hair, as cool as the long hair with shaved sides was for headbanging. With the short hair it's no holds barred viciousness. Love the dude. Respect.
This is the Metallica of my youth. When James wasn’t worried about being a “singer”, instead was just the lion of lead men. Jason killing it, Kirk killing it, and Lars giving 100%. Back when they would “play for anyone, anywhere”.
Jason really brings this performance to another level. You can tell, that even the videographers recording the concert could feel his energy. They key right in on his face.
Jesus Ulrich on Drums The Lion Hetfeild on Vocals and Rhythm Guitars Kirk Hammett on Lead Guitars Satan Newsted on Bass and Backing Vocals This is Metallica
I have gained a lot of respect for Jason. I’m a younger Metallica fan and have only known Rob as the bassist. But this is easily the best rendition of Creeping Death I have seen so far and it is all because of Jason
imo everyone is a highlight here, james in the beginning, the solo of kirk, the build up to jason, jason yelling die, all together with lars being an accual good drummer

People said it was the Seattle Binge and Purge but it wasn't it was the bestversion, the Mexico. "Are you ready my friends... CUREEPING.... DEAATHHUUUGHHHHH"
Antony Quigley THE Perfect rendition of the perfect metal song. People can say whatever they want about Lars, but he had showmanship, skill, maybe not speed, but fuck me it was all about the emphasis on the notes/beats. james had the crunchy riffs, lars may not be the fasted or the best, but that man knew how to fucking emphasize a note/beat and make each note in each riff mean something. this is an example. same with sad but true, blackened, of wolf and man (dont like that song) harvester etc. a better faster drummer could have added more Drum Beats per second, but lars added UMPH to every palm muted notes james made... perfect example is For who the bell tolls....
I can´t see how any rock band will beat this, 25 years, nothing is even close in my opinion. Here they were a machine, I remeber listning to this in the box set, it´s interesting to finally see it live.
Jason brought such raw energy to the stage...I was wary of him at first but he proved he belonged up there...true,it sucks egos got in the way...if you watch vids from their 30th anniversary run in San Fran, watch when Jason got on stage...it took it up a notch!
The tone, tuning, and vocals are perfect during this entire show. From about 89-93 they played and performed flawlessly. Saw them last year in Pittsburgh, and it was great, but they were animals during this era. You outta know by now! 2:39
I was backstage with a friend at a show, sitting at a table, and a man came up asking if he could sit with us. He was Jason. We hung out and talked. He was bouncing a pick on the table and he gave it to me. We went to the bar at his hotel and he called his g to come down. She was sleeping, her hair was a mess, no makeup, tshirt and Jean's and I swear to god she was the most gorgeous woman I have ever seen. I will never forget this gorgeous natural beauty. She was really nice too.

The best live version of creeping death. I have had this as an MP3 for years, its nice to stumble on the actual footage. Jason was a beast, I miss him :(
I remember being there with my mates at the Palacio de los Deportes, incredible concert, pure energy, more than 3 hours of head banging...those were the days. Metal forever!
I've listened to this one specific performance since I was 13 back when live shit box first came out and still the best creeping death ever in my opinion... And the die die die section has been my cell phone ring tone for many years. It never gets old. Love you /METALLICA\ Thanks for ruling my world.
In almost the first half of the video looks like this is a trio band. It doesn't show Jason any where, who does an incredible job, power vocals, and explosive performance , I really miss this metallica!

i think that guitar was ESP not Gibson
Yea they were esp guitars with explorer bodies
both
Why gubsons why don't we still use the snakebyte the EET FUKK guitar that's my metallica

i swear jason unleashes his inner demon when singing creeping death
and inner angel when singing the unforgiven lol
“Singing”
So do I🤫
definitely
The deamon leashes jason..
These were the times when Metallica was more alive than ever. And Jason was the pumping heart.
@LF X agree.
Yes 👍
Jason would have sustained this energy the whole time had he not left. Metallica lost its balls when he left.

@Benny van der Ven Always went to the left of the stage to be in front of Jason, because he was savage live. Saw them 3 times in the 90s.
Agree 100 percent
I don't care how innovative Cliff was and how technically sound Rob is, Jason was, is, and will be the best Metallica bassist ever, period.
Totally agree
HANDS DOWN THE BEST, HE WAS MY INSPIRATION TO PLAY MUSIC......
uberkid100 finally someone who puts it in words perfectly. ...it's about time someone figured out how to say it without making the cliff fans mad
he is why I play bass.
true. Jason may not be the best bassist in terms of skills, but he gets the job done through his presence.
Jason, Jason, Jason. All I see is Jason. Not because others didn’t matter but I guess I miss Jason with Metallica so much. Simply phenomenal!

Newstad AND cocaine, all their trash/speed metal songs and still they fired it up half a second.. amazing to be young and Metallica....

I agree
Right

He looks like a young angry Marine.
Kinda like Henry Rollins or Phil Anselmo. With long hair they look bad ass, but with short hair they're pure "do not fuck with"
Jason’s vocals never get old

So true,I get tears when I watch this,I used to eat sleep and breath metallica. Best times ever! Wish I could go back!
Lars actually gave 100%, 110%, 95% and 104% in terms of tempo, all in the same song.
@@hugolafhugolaf yeah he's a great drummer if you love hearing your favorite songs in five different tempos within the span of a few minutes
James threw out his voice during the black album tour (this tour), and had to change the way he sang the songs. He couldn't do the deep growl anymore
Jason with short hair is even more scary.
Streamlined for extra fury
I loved his long curls, I met him shortly after he cut it & I asked why 😂😂😂 He said he just needed a change.
Reminds me of Phil Anselmo
Screaming Jason’s vocals while you’re home alone is one of the funnest things a man can experience
100% agree
and then somewhat doing Jason justice if you can nearly scream like him
Loitering Rambler well after most times my throat hurts and I can barely speak, so I go all in 😂
Did it in my bike, singing all creeping death and the die part in Jason's style, best time of my life
it's mandatory
Jason made metallica no.1 and at top of their time.
He was so badass he left the fucking band in lars voice
Yeah...so true
I think it had more to do with Cliff's death and later Bob Rock's influence rather than Jason's introduction
gotta say the man in white staring blankly at the stage singing "die" is my fave part at 4:14
