Preaching to the choir !! I love this system and recently purchased two of the magnetic mounts, one for my desk on top of the cage and the other on my gimbal and I love them !! Plus my cage is the foldable one you showed as I don’t need anything else. So easy to remove and especially when I travel. You’ve basically shown my 2x favourite purchases in the last year :-)
Love hearing that Paul! I've been talking about Falcam for awhile now and every time anyone switches to the system, they're always so stoked! I've never had someone regret it, which shows how well designed this stuff is!
@@DavidManningvlog Couldn't agree more. I don't have any friends who are into videography or photography so I live for the channels I watch including yours specifically as you bring humour and you're clearly just a good guy! Falcam changed my whole life, I have never liked Arca Swiss and if you saw my Studio at home (only a little studio) every single thing I have has F22/F38 on it!! I didn't spot the 1/4 on the bottom of that sticker mount so thanks for that also, I just thought it was a mount to stick somewhere lol
ahhh I forgot one regret and an expensive one. The Falcam Gear Tree. I now have it in my garage and need to sell it. Just too many arms and I removed them one by one and just simplified my desk. GAS !!!
What is that Tripod from 5:40? I might be blind(because I can't find it) but I remember seeing a video about that tripod on this channel as well. Do you have an affiliate link for that?
That's a Switchpod amzn.to/4e54jVa with an F38 ballhead on top which unfortunately I think they may have discontinued. Let me see if I can find it somewhere!
It looks like the ballhead can only be picked up when attacehd to this tripod. Pretty sure it screws off and you could put it on a switch pod though👍 www.ulanzi.com/collections/falcam-f38-quick-release-series/products/ulanzi-mt-46-quick-release-metal-tripod-2583?aff=628
Falcam quick connects is legos for photographers 😂, I got them on all my cameras! The folding cage has me sold, been eyeing this since release. Awesome content as always David.
Hey David, I love the idea of having my handle on that side, but how do you deal with the screen flipping out and not in the way? (No external monitor)
It only gets in the way if you’re shooting low angle and need to flatten out the screen. Isn’t usually much of an issue. The handle on the other side doesn’t make much sense because you want to have your right hand on the camera for the controls
Very cool...only concern in the long run are those screw on points/joints the vertical and horizontal positions do they lock in place and then you tighten it?...bc if it's only holding its position because of you tightening it..how strong are the screw on points? is there any play when you try to wiggle it? the vertical and horizontal postitions..eventually in the long term hopefully the screws hold up and be tight and not get looser later on? the vertical screw on point is the one holding all the weight of a setup especially like your example you put a top handle and then the rest of the rig all the weight is on that left side..
You're right they they lock into position with a really solid click and then you tighten the screw knobs. Once you have it tightened down, there's no wiggle in the system at all. I don't know what wizardry is going on in there, but it's solid!
@@DavidManningvlog oh awesome good to know!..thank you!..yeah this product is really interesting and definitely something to take into consideration for consumers who are into this type of stuff...
Is the magsafe holder TALL enough that a microphone receiver - like the DJI or RODE will fit plugged in? Thats my biggest gripe with the Ulanzi version I've had for years - works great with just the phone, but as soon as I need to plug something in I can only use it tilted or horizontal
That's a tough call. I have the A7IV (basically the A7Cii in a bigger body) and I still take the X100VI everywhere with me and only use the A7IV for filming on this channel or when I need to use longer lenses. If I could only have one of the two, I would take the A7Cii for the versatility, but owning both I use the X100VI like 90% of the time
@@DavidManningvlog thanks this is really helpful perspective! My use case is just getting better than iPhone pictures of my family while out and about. The main thing holding me back from the X100VI was the autofocus but it seems like it is working for you!
I think you can get Magsafe stick on rings on Amazon for Android phones. It's basically a metal ring that sticks to the back of your phone and then makes your phone compatible with all Magsafe setups. Let me see if I can find one!
Yep just started down the path and now my shopping cart is loaded, these things are sick! Trying to now convert everything GoPro over to F22, but have a lot of PGYTech mounts.
Hey David! I just posted a video on how you can use an iPhone 15 Pro as a cabled monitor directly to your Sony Cam over USB-C without any additional gear, I’ve not seen any big channels show how to do this, everyone showed wireless with latency so I was surprised when I figured it out, but you should give it a try! When you showed at 6:40 the phone facing forward, that’s the perfect set-up an excellent iPhone HD monitor set-up that doesn’t require any additional batteries! Such a smooth system I think you’d love!
I hadn't seen the folding cage, but I have the L bracket on my a7iv and use that way more often than I did the full cage. Only problem is the L bracket doesn't have a spot for the top handle, but the full cage got in the way of the hot shoe and I couldn't use that for my ecm-m1 or other mics. Does the folding cage get in the way of the hot shoe?
Thanks David for the video, quick question which Icant figure out: I'd like to get the Falcam top handle and use it as a side handle as well to prevent needing to buy two different sets of handles for the half cage. Is that possible though to use the top handle as a side handle in a usable way? Would love to know if its possible and other parts might be needed to make that happen! Thanks for your time
Does the Falcam folding half cage work with PGYTech plates? I know PGYTech plates work with their shoulder strap kit one and I'm hoping I don't have to switch plates to use this half cage. 😁
Thanks for the introduction to the latest Falcam parts! I wish the half-cage had F38 on the left side, which would be most convenient for taking panoramas with my F38 tripods.
Ah dang guess I need to get these now. I was like "nah I don't do enough video I don't need this" then you brought up how I can mount my phone for BTS without having to use my hot shoe (that I'm always nervous about mounting to) and I'm sold! Finally a (somewhat) affordable mount that doesn't demand my hot shoe!
I think with the MagSafe mounts in general, the case that you use on your iPhone is significant! I use a Rokform case that is super strong on MagSafe mounts
@@DavidManningvlog I have Apple’s MagSafe clear case. And I’ve found it’s weak AF! I mount it to MagSafe car mount and it just slides off. So I’m wondering if this will be the same.
I'm missing the second locking point on the cages. On smallrig sony cages, you are able to screw the cage into the strap holder, so the cage is fixed on two points
I’m a little business owner, and my husband says I need a good camera to take pictures of my products. I haven’t purchased one yet, as I’m still doing research. (O.O) I have not really sold much yet, so sticker shock for cameras and gear is so real right now . I’m curious- what do you like taking pictures of most??
Yeah I have the full cage for my FX3 as well as the half cage for my A7IV that both have F38 on the side, I just wish they would have included it on this as well because the whole “removable cage” concept is really cool 👍🏼
Oh, lord. These videos always cost me money. Here we go. . . okay, I'm safe. I am not on F38. I have too many large items like my 400 2.8 and 1DX bodies that I want on traditional Arca mounts and I want to keep all my mounting systems the same. I AM going to buy that original Ulanzi tripod, though, as soon as I sell one of my full-size models.
I'll get you Mark... you just wait... one day, when you least expect it, you'll be sitting in front of your computer late at night with many F38 items in your cart... you may hesitate... you may try to resist... but one day you'll press that checkout button and I'll have won! 🤣
Does anyone else find the that f38 baseplate comes loose often with it only having one screw? I've had no issues with the F22 plates and the interconnectability has been a complete no-brainer since the moment I got my first. I was hoping for the same with the F38 but I legit have to remove and retighten all the time and that is making it almost not worth it's advantages at this point.

Their full cage has an f38 on the side, but the half cage only has f22. It does have 1/4-20 holes though, so you could easily add an f38 plate there
