Iceland actually exists on a fault line between two plates in the mantle of this Planet that are currently separating. Magma rises to fill the gap because of less pressure holding it down, once it reaches the surface, it's Lava.
There is no WAY to know when it will, or even if it will, settle down again. There is absolutely no point in even attempting to go back.

My thought is can't we pump in cold sea water and cool the lava with it to create channels. I know they dig trenches to direct it but thats not working.

Billions of people are at risk of being wiped out by natural disasters. Because we don't want to admit the obvious and unite to solve the problem of increasing calamities, we are destining ourselves, our family and friends to the tragic end.

You do realize we humans are not all powerful right? Our world is eventually going to end and it will either be by nuclear fallout or because the Earth will one day rid itself of us.
I will always agree that we should treat our surroundings with respect, but we can’t destroy the world nor can we stop our fate. The only option is to head to space one day as a species, if we even survive to make it to that type of advanced civilization.
