I really like how your design puts more emphasis on how upper class she is. It always annoyed me how the Friendship Games showed Twilight being the stereotypical nerdy loser that everyone hates for no good reason. Even though in the show, which they were trying to mirror, Twilight did originally have friends. She was the one who pushed them all away to focus on her studies, which just makes more sense for her overall character arc when she learns to appreciate the people around her more.
Yeah I mean it'd make more sense if they showed more of the bullying scenes by having them ONLY pick on her after manipulating her (maybe that's part of the reason why she has low confidence) and then once they can guarantee that she won't tell her family about what's going on (since everyone would logically be afraid of an influential family), they start escalating until they sabotage her grades, the family hears about it, and the principal is forced to suspend or expell the students (at the very least. But there's room for the principal to be caught as the main perpetuator and the students get therapy along with community work)
Exactly, and for direct evidence of this you can listen to the song she sings about her brother and how they were best friends, in the first verse she talks about how she didn't feel she needed friends as much as she needed to study and read.
Ngl if they were in unis instead it would be so much better. With them being in high school, it gives off a vibe that they're gonna be separated once they graduate. But if they were in uni, it would show that you can be close with your friends even if you're not in the same class.

@@maddenboseroy4074 Yeah, it's especially weird since Cheerilee was the pony CMC's school teacher and then ofc Celestia and Luna were the main rulers of all of Equestria but then became the high school principle(s??) which is a massive downgrade for them. Overall the changes make it clear it's a complete AU, not a true mirror (which makes the way Sunset and Twilight end up in that world feel inaccurate and kind of confusing actually lol.) I understand changing some things for marketability and to keep it from feeling like a retread of the FiM series except then EG just became kinda lackluster outside of Sunset Shimmer existing. Fandom has spun it into gold but EG was straw to begin with.
I've always hated the outfits of Equestria Girls the most but I couldn't pinpoint why until I saw you put slightly more mature clothes on Twilight - I think the issue is that they're all teenagers but dressed like little girls/preteens to appeal to that demographic BUT they're not even dressed like girls were at that time, but rather like what millennials who created the designs would've dressed like as preteens, if that makes sense 🤣 They're really giving old Disney Channel chic in the worst way.

Maybe human-world Ponyville would have some sort of apple themed name, since in the pony world Granny Smith and her family were the ones to establish Ponyville. Maybe generations back AJ's ancestors established the town as well and it was named after the Apple family
One huge issue I have with EG, is how Sunset STAYS in the human world. Where is her counterpart??? Also, Sunset was Celestia's pupil before Twilight, which makes her significantly older than her. WHY DOES SUNSET DATE FLASH??? I sincerely doubt he's a senior. Sunset's catching a case 🤦🏽
Sunset is not significantly older then Twilight, Celestia explains in the movie that Sunset began her studies with Celestia not long before Twilight did.
Why shouldn't she stay in the human world? She has all her human world friends there while in Equestria, she doesn't have anyone outside Celestia, Twilight, and Starlight. Besides, it is implied time simply passes differently between worlds, supported by Friendship Games stating Sunset wasn't there for the last Friendship Games event (said to be every 4 years) so she definitely was there less than 4 years before Friendship Games rather than a decade (plus I don't think anyone can be in high school that long for a decade). Like maybe a couple human world years equals over a decade in Equestria.
I am SO glad you tapped on SciTwi’s different personality compared to pony Twilight, I think that’s exactly why I love pony Twilight but can’t stand SciTwi, and couldn’t put my finger on why. Beautiful redesign and commentary, as always!! 💕
I also redesigned Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie. I used natural skin tones and a more realistic design. Fluttershy has a light green t-shirt with a big pink butterfly on it and an oversized dark green and yellow coat and pants (which she uses as a cacoon to hide herself) that Rarity customized with flowers and butterflies. She still has pink hair but with natural brown roots because in my mind, she and Pinkie are best friends, and Pinkie convinced Fluttershy to dye her hair.
I love the idea of bestie Pinkie talking Fluttershy into dying her hair, with Fluttershy wanting to but lacking the confidence before, and then Fluttershy loves it so she keeps doing it.
I really like this redesign, and also the age adjustment. It always seemed weird to me that a full grown adult pony was suddenly a teenager in another world, especially since there is no time dialation difference between the two worlds.
@imthebossmermaid3648 Sure, in real life that's true, but we have no idea the life cycle of alter-dimensional magical sapient ponylike creatures. The ponies of MLP don't conform to many of the standards of real ponies, so why should we expect them to age like real ponies? The in-story evidence very strongly suggests that they don't age like ponies, but like humans anyway -- in the epilogue the Mane Six besides Twilight (who is clearly aging like the other Alicorns and will now live for centuries) are all middle-aged despite it being at minimum an entire decade (and the implication of it being 2-3 that have passed). ETA: And that's not even taking into account that deutocanon suggests that they are all literally 23 to 27 years old when they first meet in season one.

At the time EG was firstly created all children cartoons were focused on hidh school and high school drama, as far as I remembered. They definitely jumped onto the trend, especially with the whole band thing that cam with rainbow rocks and remained for some reason, even though in the original mlp fim series there was never any connection to all of them wanting to create musi and be a band. That's just another trend EG hopped on.
They were definitely trying to tap into the Monster High and Ever After markets. I think a lot of the doll lines (edit: with any sort of animation series tie-in) were doing this. The DC Superhero Girls if it wasn't always them in high school definitely dropped them into that setting too. And I guess Miraculous....
I would think that Equestria's human equivalent of Ponyville would just be called "Metropolis" (or "Townsville" after the home of the Powerpuff Girls), and I'm sure Sic-Twi could be dumpster diving like MCU Spider-Man. As for Equestria Girls' popularity, I think it would have remained more popular had there been a human character who could never transform between realms and so would be tasked to be guardian of both realms - heck, said character could have been introduced at the very beginning of Friendship is Magic itself as the element of "inspiration" (Rarity's original element of harmony) or "acceptance" (basing this on DrWolf001's theory of Spike being a seventh element of harmony) - so as to maintain each realm's timeline as extremely distinct and as a nice nod to G1. Also, I still don't think you're done with Miraculous redesigns.
I remember that when the first equestria girls movie came out I was disappointed because Twilight was still the original pony but everyone else were copies but they were just like the ponies. I felt like her friends weren't special because there were people just like them to sustitute them when Twilight went somewhere else. When I imagined Equestria Girls from the trailers I thought Twilight was going to the new world with her friends.
I remember that my old babysitter (we will call her F here.) used to love MLP we used to always watch it and F’s roblox account actually had a user based on the show- well mainly Twilight as Twi was put in her user

The way you were talking about the high school setting at roughly 16:30+ (im not gonna find the actual timestamp here) reminds me of inkiio's redesigns of EQG characters where they aged them up into University students so that Rarity could still be a fashion designer and things just. generally make more sense. I'd recommend it if you haven't seen it because their ideas seem to align withs yours quite well!
I never really understood why the colored skin was such an issue as I was under the impression that the show was fictional. The outfits were the real crime in the show and we all know it.
14:10 They might've also thought the dark colors wouldnt go well with the pastel vibe. If the colors were darker like the originals the clothes wouldnt stand out as well. However I will not deny that I've always thought the lightening of Luna was odd and that Cheerily didnt look like Cheerily. I dont see much issue with the rest of the characters since they were already pastel. But I wish Luna and Cheerily were their original colors

What is really funny is when they talked about putting the girls like in a pet shop for fluttershy or working on the farm for apple jack or rarity boutique ALL THAT HAS HAPPENDED they where just not in the main movie it was little side animations episodes that showed all of the girls in the EXACT place that the creator of this video mentiond lol 😂

I LOVE your idea for young adult Equestria girls! To be honest, I hated that they were in high school. My favorite part of the original series WAS the fact that they were young adults, trying to figure out their lives. Highschool Mane 6 just felt like a cheap downgrade, made to sell toys.
In ponyvile they are adults because it's pony years but in human case they may be in highschool because pony years and humans years are different than normal so it may or may be not human years hopes this clear up

I agree. I've always seen Rarity as 28 because she runs a business. So it's weird that the humans are kids.

What is really funny is when they talked about putting the girls like in a pet shop for fluttershy or working on the farm for apple jack or rarity boutique ALL THAT HAS HAPPENDED they where just not in the main movie it was little side animations episodes that showed all of the girls in the EXACT place that the creator of this video mentiond lol 😂

Tbh I find it funny how when we redesign sci twi. I drew her in a lolita mixed academia. I feel like my vers of her has a sorta personal assistant she has in the form of a sci fi looking glove.
I was going for mixing the sorta uniform school theme and the elite themes together for her outfit

It would be so cool if you eventually redesign the rest of the human version main 7(including real human sunset we never saw) but made them more distinctive like si twi is from human pony twi
we do actually see human apple jack in a farm, but very briefly in rollercoaster of friendship! after she didn't get the summer job with rarity, it was shown she went back to work at the farm (ua-cam.com/video/xSRiRK1oiJk/v-deo.html)

I LOVE your idea for young adult Equestria girls! To be honest, I hated that they were in high school. My favorite part of the original series WAS the fact that they were young adults, trying to figure out their lives. Highschool Mane 6 just felt like a cheap downgrade, made to sell toys.

In ponyvile they are adults because it's pony years but in human case they may be in highschool because pony years and humans years are different than normal so it may or may be not human years hopes this clear up

Not to be that person lol, but I think the ruffle shirts were more of an Edwardian thing. It's close to the Victorian era tho
