The more complicated something has become....
The more prone it is to failure.
I will help you out if your are a owner of a 2007 and newer GM.
Change you oil every 6k miles or less with 100% synthetic motor oil.
Change your trans fluid and filter every 100k miles.
Change your coolant every 2 years.
Doing these three things will greatly lengthen the vehicle's lifetime.
I have several customer's with over 300k miles and never had major repairs except on the normal wear and tear items.
An additional thing to consider is to delete the D.O.D. or active fuel management.
    Get a bulldog d.o.d delete.
This turns off the oil pressure to four of the lifters. When oil pressure is applied the lifter collapses going from V8 to V4. Sounds nice right ?
Well...they sometimes become stuck in the collapsed position and create premature wear on the internal engine components.
So its better to have all 8 all the time.

Torque Converter failure on the 6L80 transmissions. Blows up and metal pieces get sucked into transmission.

Lifter failure is not gonna cause a piston to hit the valve. It just won't open that valve.

Wouldn’t expect anything less from GM I purchased 14 new GMs over the last 30 years and progressively their vehicles have become unreliable and severely lacking in quality. The last was our GMC Terrain I thought the basic design was good but the engine and drivetrain horrible the 2.4 liter engine has oil consumption issues and the PCV system plugs up and blows the rear main oil seal out GM knew about these issues but still kept putting the vehicles out for sale no quality or support for the customers. They just don’t care they never return calls and the dealer said GM won’t miss your money when I promised I wouldn’t buy another GM. Mazda loves my money and I love my new CX-5 and my CX-90 🤷
