Thanks Matt for the explicit lectures. I am interested in spatial data analysis regarding wildlife and other ecological works. Do you have tailored videos just for this? I wish to improve my skills in this domain, Thanks once again.
hanks a lot for sharing such a great experience. I have completed my Python course, I have good knowledge of Pandas, Geopandas, and SQLite. Also, I have +9 years of experience with GIS. However, this kind of career does not even exist in Egypt, I'm trying to land a remote job in the U.S while I'm living in Egypt. I'm willing to relocate to the U.S. However, I prefer to work remotely from Egypt. Do you have any ideas/suggestions/knowledge about this? I hope that you could help me with this. Thanks a lot for your help and consideration.
So a few things that might help: 1. Make sure you have a portfolio that showcase your work, specifically analysis in the US or a market you are interested in. This shows you have some local knowledge and that you will go the extra mile since you built your own portfolio. 2. Make sure your projects stand out. Showcasing that you know the tools is great, but showing an interesting analysis is better. For example “Predicting neighborhoods to buy homes in Salt Lake City” is good, but “The top 10 homes to flip in Salt Lake City” is better. 3. Reach out to prospective employers. Many roles in modern GIS are not posted and are found through connections. Building a network on LinkedIn is a great place to start. 4. Try and find some work on a freelance site to show some work experience in the US or another country as well. More and more I have heard of companies moving beyond their traditional hiring geographies so making sure you put in the extra effort is a key step. Hope this helps!
Thank you for your video and recommendations! It's such a great reference starting point. I have watched Luc Anselin's Introduction Spatial Data Science lectures as you suggested and it's mentioned in his lectures that he wouldn't cover spatial modelling. Do you have recommendations on spatial modelling references/resources for beginners? Thank you.
Great to landed up here on your page Matt !! I am very much focused and interested in Geo-Spatial Data Science, Infact I have completed my Masters in Remote Sensing and GIS recently, Currently working as a research Assistant in Urban Innovation and Sustainability department. I am very intrested in PhD in geospatial data science, but I am at a junction whether to try for a PhD or continue my job and learn and publish a couple of articles and papers and then move ahead ? What would you suggest Thanks for your time
So it really depends I think. I did not go the academic route but if you have a passion for research I think that makes sense. I have seen many people transition into the job market with some of the skills you have too. So in short I depends what you want to focus on, which may not be the most helpful but I hope it helped!
You always have an excuse that stops you from starting a business, Then you are the one to demolish the excuses and get started ! a fellow creator;';';';
There are tons of options but it has been a while since I left school so I tend to know more about online courses, although I am partial to UW-Madison Geography since I went there!
The most relevant UA-cam channel in my life right now. Thank you.
Wow that is amazing so glad to hear that!
So much useful information! Thank you for the upload. I'm getting a minor in GIS. Sounds like I'm making a great move.
Amazing glad to hear it!
Thank you for this great piece Matt!
Thank you Akinremi!

Not yet but I can see what I can do. In the meantime check out the datasets here - gee-community-catalog.org/
Thanks Matt! I will take your advice
Nice glad to hear that!
Thank you for such a great summary and information to get start on Spatial Data Science.
Happy to help Sarun!

i have a question
what is the difference between spatial data science and geospatial data science ?
No difference, just different naming styles.
Thanks for sharing. Super inspiring content!
Thanks for watching!
