"Most people" aren't driving into that zone to begin with. Drivers account for less than 10% of commuters entering that zone of Manhattan. They burden the area with disproportionate negative externalities. I think you mean well but your language here creates a misleading impression of the reasoning behind congestion pricing.

Does anyone know a good way to read from ESRI File Geodatabase format, or even SDE Geodatabase into a geopandas geodataframe? I would imagine for an Enterprise Geodatabase I would have to invoke arcpy first. Converting to shapefile is undesirable due to the field length limitations, and null values

I think for future videos it would be best to keep the zoom on the screen consistent. The constant zoom in/out was a little disorienting. But overall a nice video and enjoyed the introduction.

When trying to import `h3pandas`, I encountered an `ImportError` stating: "cannot import name 'h3' from 'h3'". This happened because I had `h3-py` version 4.1.1 installed, which is incompatible with `h3pandas`. **Solution:** To resolve this, I uninstalled `h3-py` and installed a compatible version (3.x). Here are the steps: 1. Uninstall the incompatible version: ```bash conda remove h3-py ``` 2. Install a compatible version: ```bash conda install -c conda-forge h3-py=3.7.7 ``` After that, I was able to import `h3pandas` successfully!

I can't thank you enough for this roadmap. I abandoned my career in surveying & geoinformatics for programming, got burned out too many times and couldn't secure a proper rewarding job for a long time as a software developer. Now, I've made the decision to switch back and take my software proficiency in GIS very seriously. This here is a great guide, thanks again.

How does the GIS go hand in hand with drones? I want to get into mapping with drones , already FAA part107 certified and I have my osha 10 to be on construction sites . The .shx does not store the spatial index! It stores the .shp record index. ESRI stores the spatial index in the proprietary .sbn and .sbx files, and their format specification has not been publicly released. To overcome this limitation, several other software programs have implemented their own spatial index files to accompany shapefiles.

A bit of insider baseball, but this being integrated into Data Interoperability - which is an extension to ArcGIS Pro version of the very powerful Safe FME tool - is worlds different than ArcGIS Pro natively supporting duckdb. Not much different than using Pro to make a jupyter notebook and importing the python duckdb package.

Esri uses Spark in their Geoanalytics on Arcgis online ,they have integrated Alot of stuff into their arcgis online notebook. Limiting them to just arcpy or arcgis server does not really capture Alot of update going on in Arcgis Notebook. In term of Scalability you can scale your notebook using Geoanalytics on Notebook and using more efficient notebook, the introduction of Arcgis pipeline too is also another big game chnage for them, bt sadly only few people have really explore all this, PS: you can also automate your ARCGIS notebook runs.. The only thing here is all this services are expensive.
