USA getting owned by Germany and losing all their matches, becoming a fan of Brazil's free flowing style, then seeing them get stomped by France to name a few moments, and learning the names of those considered to be top tier at the time and the young up and comers.

Argentina always shot themselves in the foot
I expected them to win it in 1998 but against the Netherlands look at the unnecessary redcards they got.
In 2002 they could not even manage to go past the group stage
In 2006wc Pekerman had an awesome team... just perfect all he needed to do was drop Tevez n plug in Messi who had been playing big games with Barca. But somehow Pekerman had his mind stuck on Tevez and again Argentina went out in what would have been an easy win for them.
The great Maradona comes in and leaves out Cambiasso and Zanetti who had just managed to win the treble with Inter... as always South American coaches are biased when selecting players. Maradona does what Pekerman did and Argentina is out.

I think Maradona also left out Milito who was also a Treble winner with Inter. One can conclude that Maradona had some residual grudges of the Nerazurri from about 2 decades prior.
And this doesn't address the 2014 fiasco when Higuain shitted on some scoring chances and Di Maria was absent from the final. Boy, I was so sad that day

Generally speaking it's such a shame that these decisions happen in the game. Was it stupid? Yes. Was it dangerous or endangering his opponent? No. The whole game was changed by the red card and it affected Beckham for years afterwards. Minor things like this and penalties given for the smallest touch result in hug consequences for tiny things

Beckham getting hit in the back, Simeone leaning on top of him. Beckham shouldn't have kicked Simeone. And of course Simeone took the dive. No-one blames him.
