Oda is not going for the obvious approach especially with someone like Shanks. Either this hooded Shanks look alike is Shanks from the past or future that has been corrupted than the Shanks we all know and love. Or Shanks and this hooded version of him are clones of Figureland Garling.
Yeah, I think Oda is gonna subvert expectations a little with shanks' meeting with the elders. I think he initially wanted it to make people start thinking. Since this "other" shanks showed up, I think he wants people to think back to that meeting and consider it's this guy, but in reality, it will have been the actual Shanks all along. But I think this was his was of easing people into the idea
The "Shanks" at the reverie was trying to talk about a certain pirate, well he was trying to talk to the Gorosei about the actual Shanks. Also, the Gorosei NEVER adressed him as Red-Hair or Shanks at the reverie, which is weird cause they have mentioned him before by name/title (when he approached Whitebeard).
@@KeinProblem-uv5jh We don't know the limit of teleportation. Saturn teleported himself from the ship to the island, but he physically came down to Mary Geoise traveling up to Egghead. Than, he summoned the other Gorosei, they couldn't came here without his summoning. Maybe Shanks' twin came to Elbaph by his ship and than teleported himself and the girl to the main island.
Honestly when I see Dusk & Dawn in my feed, it pause everything and start watching! Love your videos. I hope you are right
Regarding the credits If they removed shanks’s name or left it blank then it would have alluded to it not being shanks & made it obvious. It would have killed the mystery
If the Flash-style time travel paradox holds in OP, then it's possible that the hooded man is evil Shanks similar to how Savitar was evil Flash in The Flash S3 and they both are exactly alike except for...a scar. This could mean that when Toki traveled to the present, an alternate timeline was created thereby spawning another Shanks that wasn't abandoned in God Valley and became evil Shanks (or the Shanks abandoned in God Valley was spawned by the alternate timeline). #theorytheorynomi
The moment "shanks" asks about intel it's clear that this either is a different shanks or shanks with a different personality. The question is: if shanks is actually on elbaph according to the giants where is his crew? We know that unlike other emperor's shanks crew travels like the strahhats and the roger pirates did. On a single ship with a small but stable crew. Imo the real shanks is currently chasing his goal of "stealing the one piece" which is directly related to something or someone rather located on elbaph. He and his crew have already extended deeper into elbaph, somewhere the story will take us over time. This ominous shanks is not shanks. It's someone who doesnt know Loki yet. He is probably a garling clone just like shanks. There must be a reason garling was suited for the role of the elder god of science.
I believe this confirms that the God's Knights are not tied to the norms of Celestial Dragon society. It seems like Garling and the God's Knights are the actual leaders of Cipher Pol. If thos is true, that would add more weight to Monkey D. Dragon saying the real battle begins once the God's Knights are mobilized. Think about it. Why didn't CP0 act when the holy land was being attacked by the RA? Sakazuki had already hinted those before when discussing the resignation of Doflamingo from the Warlords. This would also explain how CP0 and SWORD are "rival" factions. It seems as if the God's Knights are Imu's fighting force once the gloves are off. The title of the 5 elders does supercede that of the God's Knights but I believe that the God's Knights are an autonomous force answering only to Imu and Garling.
If the anime hid shanks' name in the anime credits it would have made it obvious that something was going on/it wasn't shanks so how do you confuse everyone? Pretend it is... Oda wouldn't need to say anything this way too cus even the editors and actors wouldn't know and just assume it was shanks so no spoilers.
This is Evangelion study levels of "deeeeeeep". I know me some in depth symbolic study and double meanings, but this is honestly taking the mickey a bit, that the One Piece fandom has to go stupidly in depth to talk about an anchor and what an anchor REALLY means. Sometimes artists literally put stuff in there because it's just "cool" or "gets you thinking twice", when there isn't actually anything there or anything to it. The fact you guys are using a literal anchor, meant to weigh down boats at sea/port, to moving between social class standings, is just a bit zany to me, like Rick & Morty "it's a deep show, you wouldn't understand" level of zany.

From the beginning, the audience was deliberately led to understand Shanks as a mysterious and suspicious character. We must admit that when Shanks thwarted Ryokugyu actions, it didn't make him known as a “white character”. Until now, I still don't dare to speculate why this character was made like that, and why it was given “red hair” by the author of the story. Did he really not eat the devil fruit? Or maybe teleportation can be done without the power of the devil fruit? Whatever the twist is, if Shanks is a time traveler or comes from a parallel universe, I think it doesn't matter. We are already familiar with this.
The anchor Shank reminds me of episode 316 when shanks was called the linchpin of the reckless era, and Gunko is essentially lynching Lokis wolf in 1136
The Shanks parallel timeline theory is kind of outreach, because I feel like it's the reason why Oda made the time travel fruit to only be able to travel into the future.
I don’t see why we can’t have a Shanks sibling and still have the man who met with the Five Elders be Shanks himself. Until proven otherwise, the only “certain pirate” that makes sense is Blackbeard, AKA the modern-day Rocks D. Xebec. Teach wants to rule the world, full-stop, which is good for neither the World Government nor the people of the world. It makes perfect sense that they’d both be aligned against Blackbeard, though not necessarily with each other. The enemy of your enemy is your friend. And how would Saturn know of Teach’s “special lineage” if he didn’t hear it from Shanks? Also, it always made sense to me that Oda wouldn’t say anything to the anime team because a Shanks lookalike wouldn’t have the immediate impact that he was going for, unlike Shanks himself.
Honestly i think either will be something simple as an twin, or something totally unexpected to us , some crazy thing like the original shanks being an creature that has his form , or him having suffering an DF fruit attack that slipt him in two .
I believe strongly that Shanks and his twin are, actually, Garling's clones created to be given as prizes to that "hunting season" in God Valley, like a "you admire him? what about having your own Garling as a son for you to be proud of?!"... Which would explain why baby Shanks was in a box when Roger found him, and it'd be sickening enough for the tenryuubito to do.
this was a pretty good theory but the latest chapter kinds goes against it. if the hooded man is indeed shanks why would he ask gunko about having intel on lokis weakness if he already captured him 6 years ago? why would shanks need to know about lokis weakness if he already had the strength to beat him 6 years ago. this is probably the biggest hole in your theory
@@ZanarkandFFXwrong The guy at the reverie definitely was shanks The elders said he came a long way If that was stabs he could just teleport like the gorosei

The shanks correlating to his shins which are often in panel is such a cool little detail no one else would get , & The multiple anchors plastered everywhere in the origin story is just crazy how do you do it bro😭😭 & then the whole anchor being a sort of power structure like damn, how deep does it really go? I kinda want to buy a shonen issue & see if you could ship it to me I want to read op like you guys do much love!
My issue, it if that is shanks why hide it. Yet clearly show his face via the right side. Oda san, is very consistent when it come to shanks. It never a question if it him or not. But when shanks is meeting with the 5Elders oda San hide his scars. Something fishy is going on. And when as shanks ever warren a hood.
Loki's conversation with the Holy knights was shown to us after they've already met and given him the offer. So wether Loki made a comment on Shanks lookalike is still uncertain, considering his past with Shanks, we can only assume he would have something to say about a copy of the man who beat him working as a holy knight. Oda keeps on hiding the lookalike's full appearance, perhaps it's meant for more suspense, or it's meant to serve as a bigger plot twist with him having a similar scar due to being a clone instead of the popular twin theory. I do think that him having a similar hairstyle and beard to that of Shanks despite the vastly different upbringings could be a clue towards the clone theory of yours. Considering that Crocodile's seraphim clone has the same scar and missing arm like the original.
Right of the bat, on chapter 1135 where he debuted, I smelled cloned. First Vega Clone confirmation, and then the recall of Garling being apointed as head of Science. If the Look alike is his clone it fits . So many people pointed out his resemblance to male Bonney skect. He might be her biological father. If he end up blond like Garling , it will he confirmed.
Good theory that hooded shanks is 2 different individuals… shanks makes deals to keep peace and complete the prophecy… stabs is a clone by garling hence he has been given the title replacing Saturn
When Shanks and Gunko show up, the summoning circle looks like Urahara Kisukes skull symbol he uses to separate souls from their bodies Also, hail mary here, but I think Gunko is actually Zoros mom Tera. She taught Zoro the Sunacchi phrase, which would tie directly to Garling and his “children” Throw away your name and be as a child
It might be a clone. Loki would have recognized him if he was red hair. He would have said something. Not only that he couldn't just disappear from his crew they just left elbaph
If Shanks has a clone, then I think he’s the clone and a failed experiment, he was supposed to be a clone of a figurland but was discarded as a failure. It would have been a few years before Stussy who is the first “successful” clone and probably why the WG wanted vegapunk.
No to leave it vague the best way is to name the character shanks in the credits but give you an endless stream of visual and causal clues that imply that it's definitely not him. He is playing with us . The thing is. If something doesn't behave like the thing you expect, doesn't reveal the characteristics that you have been trained to identify what you expect then it's most probably not what you expect. Shanks twin is real. Oda is testing if we are thinking based on authority or based on reason in a sense. Can you question the authority of the credits ? That's the fun he's having now
lord have mercy this is an insane cook. i really like this and we know oda likes symbolism and i trust oda to not use lame quick fixes for massive plotholes but rather takes the hard way that is way more rewarding in the long run
This may be a long stretch, but what if all along he is at the mercy of TWG? Shanks is not someone who seeks to change the world for himself but for the freedom of those the government are using as leverage. Maybe it was someone within his bloodline who tried to save him by secretly putting him in the treasure chest knowing that pirates will take him away. Once TWG discovered his existence, they gave him the title of a Yonkos and forced him to do their bidding, carrying out duties, not by choice. Seems all Yonkos and powerful pirates had some kind of deal at one point or another. After all, it is TWG who decide the bounties and title status of all pirates. I also think the reason Loki wants to kill Shanks is not because he was responsible for Loki’s capture, but because of his connection to TWG. If there is another person who resembles Shanks, clearly, TWG know Shanks’ lineage and they would definitely take him in.

4:54 the anchor is connected by the rope to the man who wear straw hat which makes sense with the timeline....also whatever 'one piece " will be.... Luffy will be the"eye" of one piece means Luffy will be functioning like an eye to visualise or to see the " one piece "
that's a mega spoiler right there LOL
Oda is not going for the obvious approach especially with someone like Shanks. Either this hooded Shanks look alike is Shanks from the past or future that has been corrupted than the Shanks we all know and love. Or Shanks and this hooded version of him are clones of Figureland Garling.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 it's always a pleasure to watch Mr. Fullmoon's perspective!
They said he came a long way
Holy knights can teleport
This was shanks
@@KeinProblem-uv5jh We don't know the limit of teleportation. Saturn teleported himself from the ship to the island, but he physically came down to Mary Geoise traveling up to Egghead. Than, he summoned the other Gorosei, they couldn't came here without his summoning. Maybe Shanks' twin came to Elbaph by his ship and than teleported himself and the girl to the main island.
Honestly when I see Dusk & Dawn in my feed, it pause everything and start watching! Love your videos. Regarding Shanks twin, I think it is still a bit of a reach thinking that "twin" is Shanks himself. I like your arguments, and Shanks having an identical twin seems king of cheesy. But we will se. I hope you are right
Thank you for checking it out! Yes, I’d be happy if I could provide even a slightly different perspective on Shanks’ true identity!
I think he will be revealed after we see him & Shanks in the same place at the same time.
Regarding the credits
If they removed shanks’s name or left it blank then it would have alluded to it not being shanks & made it obvious.
Oda did say shanks has a secret but his crew would still follow him
The moment "shanks" asks about intel it's clear that this either is a different shanks or shanks with a different personality.
Dawn & Dusk...is Shanks! I KNEW IT!!
Thank you, for being an invaluable link to the Japanese One Piece community.
A shank is also a name for a makeshift knife in English, and a verb meaning "slash or stab"
Backstabber Shanks
I think that Shanks is the clone.
His name is figarlan D shanks and his brothers name is figarlan D shamrock.
@@zoeking95 I have not seen the scans yet, does it says that he is Shank's brother? I thought that because Shanks might be a clone, Garling might not think he is a true son, or something like that, neverthless, I'm looking forward to see the chapter.
@@vfernandes9475 shanks, shamrock and garling are all from figarlan D family. They r all related. The cloning procedure was only done by vegapunk recently. So there’s no way he’s a clone. Shamrock has long hair and is about to be a Luffy victim 😭😂
@@zoeking95 I'll wait and see what oda has in store for us, but I think it could be cool for Shanks to be the "odd one", I just find strange that the Celestial Dragons never tried to eliminate him (that we know of yet), while we was younger (after Roger died). Also, I doubt that he will be a Luffy victim, if his strenght is close to Shanks it might be a draw, or even Zoro might have to help.
@@vfernandes9475 shanks is to strong. Shanks mihawk Luffy Blackbeard r the 4 strongest pirates right now who r alive. And the celestial dragon don’t know about shanks being a figarland so maybe that y they never send anyone to get rid of him. And we re at end game now, so shamrock vs Luffy, Loki vs zoro, gunko vs Nami 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Could you research xebek and tell us what you can find out?
@@Gabriel.D-Lima- Personal theory here is you re interested: He got splitted up Voldermont style. We yet to see where Linlin place his Actual Soul. His Shadow may have been the thing that Lurked in Florian Triangle. Dragon may have taken his Monstrous Fruit( Rocks Bird ) , while his body got deaged to infant state by Bonneys fruit previous owner. That kid later became Teach thus Ace commenting how he has lived Twice. Sengoku never confirmed his death.
Interesting theory. But wasn't it stated, that Bonneys fruit can't grand youth, just deage for a while?
on 15:42 about inconsistences, it is believe the left scene depict Emet and joyboy and the right one lufy and emet. the hat that imu has on hes palace is quite big. that why it is believed that joyboy was buccaneer. so in this case i dont believe this is a solid proof on inconsistency. though your videos are always great and in detail.
OMG Dawn Dusk is Shanks theory confirmed. 😄😄😄
I think that’s the real Shanks
Thank you for this incredibly deep analysis, I personally would never even think about Shanks being connected to anchors
To add, it is possible that there are more shank clones and Garling doesn't even have to be the original.
@@gunnar699the only clones made are from vegapunk. So it doesn’t make sense
this was a pretty good theory but the latest chapter kinds goes against it.
if the hooded man is indeed shanks why would he ask gunko about having intel on lokis weakness if he already captured him 6 years ago?
why would shanks need to know about lokis weakness if he already had the strength to beat him 6 years ago. this is probably the biggest hole in your theory
Exactly, that hooded figure is not Shanks, not at the reverie and not here at Elbaph.
@@ZanarkandFFXwrong
The guy at the reverie definitely was shanks
The elders said he came a long way
If that was stabs he could just teleport like the gorosei
@@KeinProblem-uv5jh True, but it would make sense if Shanks' twin is the man marked by flame who travels on the black ship sinking his enemies. Shiryu suggested that the last Poneglyph is in the hands of the WG, it's not something casually written by Oda...
Good way to start my Sunday 🎉 your videos are the best
Why would he ask for Loki's location when Shanks was with Loki recently?
3:36 since it is called shanks so multiple shank !!
I knew it! You were Shanks the whole time! 😂
Yes and I have twin channel..🤣
Shanks is the red sky at dawn and luffy is the sun at dawn. Shamrock is the red sky at sunset and Loki the sun at sunset with the sunset horn phenomenon. I feel like oda has created his characters from sky based phenomenon that man has witnessed since the beginning of time. Maybe im wrong but if so its really cool.
I miss your theory videos : )
What if the "2nd" Shanks is a Cavendish scenario? I do not have evidence for this but what if Shanks has a hidden/second persona? Thoughts?
Nope. The leader of the God's knight and the son of Garling 'Figarland Shamrock'
Great analysis !!!
The shanks correlating to his shins which are often in panel is such a cool little detail no one else would get , & The multiple anchors plastered everywhere in the origin story is just crazy how do you do it bro😭😭
& then the whole anchor being a sort of power structure like damn, how deep does it really go?
I was also thinking since you said the roles will reverse Imu might use the lower celestials as anchors or sacrifices in a way.
Shanks name alone is a multi Entendre & you’re a great mediator for the masses indeed, love your videos bro you always leave me thinking! I kinda want to buy a shonen issue & see if you could ship it to me I want to read op like you guys do much love!
Loki represents the sun when it sets because of a phenominon called the sunset horns.
shanks and his twin represent the buddha and the different paths he could take. he would become a fugitive or a powerful ruler
Sheeesh the goat is back
didnt roger found shaks as a baby? then why would garling say watch closely children if they cant remember a thing at that point?
Red hair can turn blonde at older age.
@greendecepticon6148 really? The only natural red hair people I know, haven't aged that much.
Good theory that hooded shanks is 2 different individuals… shanks makes deals to keep peace and complete the prophecy… stabs is a clone by garling hence he has been given the title replacing Saturn
It always seems like he's reaching so hard but then it all rnds up making sense
i always love your ending statements
Oh lord bro cooked!
When Shanks and Gunko show up, the summoning circle looks like Urahara Kisukes skull symbol he uses to separate souls from their bodies
Also, hail mary here, but I think Gunko is actually Zoros mom Tera. She taught Zoro the Sunacchi phrase, which would tie directly to Garling and his “children”
Throw away your name and be as a child
given the lunar theme of Figarland I think Holy Knight Shanks & Shanks are extensions of Garling via haki or a power he has
It might be a clone.
Interesting, the fact that Oda sensei keeps us guessing might really be hinting at crazy twist in end
“First hand” at 3:06 is absolutely diabolical lmao
No to leave it vague the best way is to name the character shanks in the credits but give you an endless stream of visual and causal clues that imply that it's definitely not him. He is playing with us
. That's the fun he's having now
Look deeper into the anchor theory. I saw someone on twitter that mentioned that the anchor is the key to the one piece treasure
dawn dusk is shanks 🗣️⚔️🧮
In recent chapters, a vegapunk said they could clone the original Vegapunk at a young age. How about these hooded Shanks are clones?
If the credits showed question marks or not showed Shanks at all it would give it away completely. They wouldn't do that.
lord have mercy this is an insane cook. i really like this and we know oda likes symbolism and i trust oda to not use lame quick fixes for massive plotholes but rather takes the hard way that is way more rewarding in the long run
This was awesome!
he is bon clay , or they are using bon clays fruit or its just seraphim
thanks for your knowledge!!!! greetings from argentina
Anchor Anchor No Mi model Shanks
19:26 Let’s call it, an Arch Angel, since we know Saturn spied on VegaPunk what’s to say he stopped VP creates Serephim and Saturn cloned the original Holy Knights as avatars
GREAT VIDEO you think exactly like how I think
Dude I’m the guy who recently interacted with you on x , said that watched your all videos , cheers 👍
In the United States the word “shank/shanks” is slang for a prison made knife. Just wanted to put that out there for people who don’t know.
I would not be surprised that it’s Shanks, shank’s are sneaky prison made weapons, which could mean something but maybe I’m reaching with that.
i think if oda made the marijoa guy the real shanks it would be the biggest unexpected twist he could pull
Damn really good points for both of these characters (or if same one).
I always do like your theories and interpretations, but I am not so convinced about this one. But I still like the reasoning! Keep going!
Every time I assume I fully grasp the story so far, the dreaded “you know nothing because you haven’t read the Japanese text” makes an appearance. 😂
