Just checked out the Footsore minis Mortal Gods page. Damn, the Persians look good....and the Greek heroes. Might have to pick some up for command stands.

When I was looking at the A&A armored Gauls for my ancients they looked like they had more heavy set proportions

I've just recently built up two warbands for Dux Britanniarum, one Romano-British and the other Early Saxon. I have used figures from Footsore Miniatures, Warlord Games, Wargames Foundry, Gripping Beast, Crusader/North Star, and EOE Orbis/Blacktree Design; for the most part (with the exception of maybe 3-4 figures out of a total of 82 figs) they all match-up very well; I used them mixed in their units, as humans DO vary in size and proportions.
My most recent purchases, for my next project, have been Early Imperial Legionaries by Victrix and Warlord Games. Fom what I can judge, while still on sprues, there is a noticable size diff between ths two manufacturers; Victrix appear to be slightly larger and therefore will probaly not mix so well; however they will probaly look ok on the 'battlefield' if kept in theri own units/formations and ar positioned on opposing flanks etc?
Good video, by the way, and these types of video are very useful to us all! 👍

I've got Victrix Gauls they're deffo larger than warlord which are bizarrely smaller than most despite being the leading company here in the UK due to the popularity of Hail Caesar. My local shop reckon Gripping Beast are close to Victrix in size. I kind of want this to be true due to their boxes being cheaper 😂.

After seeing your awesome work on the persians, I can't wait to see what you do with the late romans!
Right now I am 91 minis deep into my late roman army, that I've calculated to be about 200 men strong at the end... but somehow I think you'll finish before me!😅
    Keep on paintin'!

I have some A&A and Aventine later Romans and Sassanids and I would agree the A&A are shorter and a little chunkier than the Aventine but they look good. I really like the A&A in scale mail. The A&A horses are more noticeably smaller.

I would suggest that Victrix is one of the best plastic ranges out there for ancients. They are currently expanding their late roman range. I know you are familiar with them. How do they rate in terms of size with these metal figures?

Victrix is the best in plastics hands down. When I get some of the late Roman sets (I plan on buying a set of archers and armored infantry) I will do a comparison video showing then next to the miniatures in this video. I also have Foundry late Romans from the Perry’s coming too so I will be able to do more of a late Roman comprehensive comparison. But just judging from the other 100s of victrix figures I own, victrix typically works well with aventine and the foundry world of the Greeks stuff albeit slightly larger in some cases.

Really useful. Thanks for posting. Would be interesting to see how the Victrix late Romans scale up, but I reckon they’ll be bigger. If it helps, I used A&A and Aventine when I did my Parthians a while ago and I thought those ranges scaled together perfectly. I couldn’t see any size difference at all and the styles matched well to as they’re from the same sculptor.

Nice, that was my hope as well, I heard some of the A and A rangers can be slightly shorter than the aventine, I think I am going to definitely get some of their sets for the late Roman project.

If you ask me the Victrix late Romans are beautiful. The only struggle I have with that level of detail is balancing the amount of time I put in on an individual figure against getting an army completed in reasonable amount of time.
