Cycling through central London this morning, having listened to this talk yesterday evening, I momentarily glanced across at a luminous road sign detailing how many cyclists had passed through this year. Usually it's a number in the tens of thousands, but this morning it read '1' and an internal voice immediately said "and that's Me!" It took a moment to rest into the awareness of being 'Me' who is 1 after which thoughts and concerns of dissociation quickly arose. As I crossed the murky River Thames, with the grey skies merging above, there was an awareness of the separate-self 'me' being contained within the 'Me' who is 1 and with a sigh I voiced your words, "everything is contained within Everything else."

my fave scientific analogy is the story of the *Seven Blind men and the elephant*.... it applies so well to diverse perspectives, different strokes, people aren't clones, info-gathering and etc...
and why i thoroughly enjoy your physics and other topical 'excursions' that are new inclusions and perspectives

Such a good video by the way! It's so beautiful to see, when there are humans that can express my thoughts and perceptions in such a clear way that I myself couldn't do it! :)

Great video! Thank you for this. This is similar to when Sam Harris says “there is no free will” and people get super upset. His premise being that you can not know the next thought you are going to have or when you think your thoughts. All experience just arises. Still interesting topic.
I think this truly does represent the death of the “I” or ego because then you are living from this expanded since of self/agent.

Too abstract intellectual....unhelpful in terms of eliminating guilt and shame.....I get it....intellectually guilt and shame are illogical and relate to a false individual.......but this is not "profoundly liberting" as you so grandly put it.

Hareesh, I try as best I can to look within and make my life choices. There are a lot of big ones right now for me. And I know that whatever I choose is the only choice I can make for the reasons you outlined in this video. Unfortunately that doesn't help me when I'm in the process of making decisions. I find myself going in circles with a lot of fear ( terror) and doubt. So I understand that I can't make a wrong decision but it doesn't feel like that when i'm in the process. Care to add some guidance?

@@FH-ic9sd I call that "the invalid shift from first to third person" -- worrying about how the teaching might be misused by others or what society would be like if everyone embraced this teaching. But in the real world of which you speak, there is no chance of that. When YOU contemplate this teaching, are YOU tempted to run amok? I doubt it. And so why this shift to the hypothetical third person instead of just contemplating the teaching for yourself? Could it be something manufactured by the mind to provide an excuse for not accepting the teaching?
but btw, please note that I did NOT say you aren't responsible for your actions. You are, even though you couldn't have done otherwise. We must hold people responsible for their actions in order to deter criminal behaviour, as you suggest. but that doesn't mean we need to BLAME them for their actions. Or demonize them, etc.
      Hope this helps.

Well, because shame and guilt are not simple -- they are rooted in false concepts that need to be antidoted.
