Nice, I hiked in 2022 with my sons, and one who would make our trip his 3rd. We started at Cloud Cap going counter because he wanted something different and the rest of us had no reference to what was best. I liked going counter to talk to other hikers about what was in store for either of us. I also liked getting to Timberline for a very nice 3/4 of the way pit stop.

I did this trail last year. I started with my brother but he couldn’t finish so we had to get a hitch out of top spur to get the car at timberline, I then came back in Sep and did it CCW with my bestie. Two nights. I would have done three but we just were tired

Awesome! There are lots of ways to enjoy this trial. I've done one night and three nights. Nice to take it slow if you have time.

Thanks for the info! What would a recommended itinerary be for two nights/3days? CW or CCW? TIA

Starting from Timberline Lodge, head clockwise 10 miles to the Sandy River crossing. Day two brings you about 16 miles to Cloudcap. Day three rounds out the hike with about 14 miles back to the lodge.
Of course, you can do the reverse to make it a counterclockwise trip, which is also a great option. There are many other variations of a two-night itinerary as well.

Have you guys ever hiked in late October early November? My wife and I are planning a trip there and are wondering what the weather might be like.

It'll be a crap shoot up there at that time... Snow would definitely be a concern! We usually see the snow start flying in govy during October.

Agreed. Even without snow rainy and cold temps make for now views and miserable hiking. Late september can be great though
