Welcome to Helvetia, WV, a Swiss-Appalachian community located in rural Randolph County WV near the Upshur County/Webster County lines where Swiss immigrants first settled in 1869. To say this community is resilient is an understatement. The first settlers carved out a home in a wild wilderness and has endured the arrival of the railroad which brought in the outside world, America fighting of two World Wars, and the loss of population as descendants left this rural community for the outside world. In spite of these challenges, Helvetia has prevailed. It is now a must visit place in West Virginia, where visitors are welcomed as family. If you're contemplating a trip to Helvetia--DO IT!
