Kanami is a woman who knows rock well. As long as she is a band-made brain, she will succeed. The melody is pop J rock, but the background is completely hard rock. Bass and drums are the lifeline of this band. If it were a safe world this year, Band-Maid would have achieved world domination. Did you see the other two hours of online live?
They will be playing this song in their upcoming 2 hour live online concert December 13th. $20 . Support the band and get quality music at the comfort of your home or what ever

This song is the last farewell to Revolver Records by Band-Maid and that explains why it will not be in their new album (under Pony Canyon records) .....it also will be the intro song to the anime....Log Horizon season 3.....BTW; new subs
Yeah, Tank. Kanami uses a triple rectifier. She says channel 2 for main distortion, and solos. Channel 3 when she wants to crank up volume. And uses modern mode on both channels. Uses Freidman buxom boost, Fulltone ocd. She said she composes songs at home.
To me, the segment after "It's showtime!" sounds like the theme music for a serial killer clown's clown-car burning down a crowded sidewalk at 150 mph.
Now you've said it, the drummer, Akane, is a Maximum the Hormone fan and about 5/6 years ago she made a drum cover for one of MtH songs. You can find the video here on UA-cam.
lol they really do all just pop off through the whole song. Mentioned it yesterday but the instrumental "Don't be long" that released with this is soooo good. Recommend listening on your own time since if I had to bet, won't be on UA-cam. BUT, I think Reincarnation (aka RINNE) (MV) would be 100% up your alley. Wonderland (Live) is a personal fave that is just beautifully orchestrated, and another different sound than you've heard so far. They've got some variety in their catalog!
No Shave November is suiting you. I loved this song too, it was different, still Band Maid, but they’re trying something new. I was with you and expecting that guitar solo as well (I’ve heard every Band Maid / Maiko release, so there was that expectation) but it also shows that they don’t need it. I’m hyped for Unseen World.
That was awesome, thanks for the reaction and analysis! I really appreciate all the insight from you and Chase C. as I'm not a music technician. I just know what I like, and you guys tell me the why and how.
The song makes more sense when watching the Log Horizon intro, as the melody changeups are synced to different clips within the intro. Also love the way Saiki rap-sings here more than in other past songs iirc. Also, for me, I have noticed a couple older musical references. The vibe is that of a circus/carnival atmosphere. One riff with the descending chromatics reminds me strongly of "Entry of the Gladiators" (aka "Thunder & Blazes") by Julius Fucik, which became a symbol of the big top circus for the past 100 years. Then, the fast oompah-oompah 1-2-1-2 percussion reminds me of "Sabre Dance" by Aram Khachaturian. There may be other references but can't remember them. I was exposed to western classical music in my youth through my parents & was a sousaphone/baritone/basskeyboard player in school.
That was the first chance I've had to catch this new song, so thanks for that man - it was a joy to share in it! Glad that they're managing to get a look into the anime OP scene.. at their level of talent and quality of writing they deserve it. I did recently catch an interview with Miku and Kanami, in which Kanami talked about digging into her archives for something that could work for the anime after they got the call.. She did say it was uptempo and Miku was giggling that it was a speedy challenge for her.. I think even Akane apparently commented as such when they were pulling the song together in rehearsals, but there it is! I'm expecting that this may be a bit of a departure from the rest of the album in the same way that "The Dragon Cries" was from CONQUEROR, but knowing these ladies as I do that's not a concern, just more spice to the dish hehehe.
I was disappointed by the lack of solo at first as well until I realize the whole dang song is a solo. They do have some other recent non MV songs that are similar. Screaming has similar tempo and Dilemma has some similar sounds particularly in the bass.
Actually you can buy A line guitars on Zemaitis's website right now. (I know this cuz I bought one a couple months ago.) Maybe they're just 2020 closeouts, though. They def don't have the exact model available for sale that Miku sports in the video.
these ladies really rock and they´ve got some cool gear too. have you ever considered to react to wagakki band? their guitarist shin oumura (machiya) is on one level with takayoshi ohmura (kami band). they have two drummers, one regular, one with taiko drums. and they use other traditional japanese instruments. plus eguitars and ebasses like theirs you do not see everyday. their "homura" would be a good choice. stay warm.
I love it that you use girugamesh in the beginning of your reaction! still miss them since their farewell concert four years ago (saw them the last time in essen, germany). Love your reaction as always, thank you very much! Edit: And of course, i still love the tank facts and equipment talk
As a fan of both BAND-MAID and Maximum, comparing this song to anything Maximum is quite the reach. To me this is more closely related to their other song Screaming than anything Maximum. Still a damn good song though.
I wish EDDIE VAN HALEN could see his 5150 AMP standing tall on stage as these lovely maids’ shred!!!! Hope to see them live in 2021 rocking CALIFORNIA!!!!!
thankyou, i never really looked at guitars before, but since i watched your reactions ive started to look. and myako from lovebites has some beautful dean guitars. they sound really good.
The brand of Misa's bass is Black Cloud. The one she plays is named Black Smoker. I think she has at least 3 different Black Clouds, besides a couple of Fenders. She started with a Fender Jazz Bass, but when she went to 5 strings she started looking at more options and Black Cloud happened. Miku has a whole collection of Zemaitis. Their first compact V was almost certainly made to her needs. They asked if she would be interested in a new V model and when she said Yes, they built hers in their custom shop, which became #1. She was surprised how well it fit her. She also now has a model she co-designed, the Flappy Pigeon, a limited edition you need about $5500 and a lot of luck to get. She originally played Rickenbacker and has at least two (620 and 360). Zemaitis asked her and Kanami to drop by and check out their guitars. They did. Miku loved the looks, tried it out and loved the action. Kanami went to be polite, but was already set on PRS. PRS had worked hard to win over Carlos Santana, and he is highly regarded by her (along with Eddie Van Halen and others) AND this is the model Santana uses I believe. I have heard another pro guitarist praise its easy precise action, especially with lighter strings (it came with 10s, he's using 9s). And Kanami being Miku's guitar Sensei, I would think that The Pigeon's EVH 5150 was probably her recommendation. The Boogie set is Kanami's. It has also been mentioned that Bonham's earlier work with Led Zeppelin was mainly on Tama. I don't know if that had anything to do with her choice. I do notice she has been consistent in using them so far.
You should check out their MV for "alone". They use their old gear in it so you may have something new to talk about. Also the song is really good, so there is that as well.
Yeah, we've only really seen stuff from Domination and the World Domination tour before now. Tank, check out Blooming from the album Conquer. It was their most recent album.
Since you've mentioned Maximum the Hormone: on the official Band-Maid channel used to be a drum cover of "Benjo Sandal Dance" by Akane. Was removed later but you can still find it on other UA-cam channels :)
This is a bit different from them, little harder hitting and definitely mosh pit worthy, a tip of the hat to early 80's punk and 90's speed metal. Akane is killing it on the drums as usual. Reminds me a little bit of the good old days watching Black Flag, Fear, Circle Jerks etc. keep up the good work ladies, love ya lots!
The song is shorter than normal because it is the opening song for the anime Log Horizon season 3 needs to fit that time restraint, there is a video of Miku and Kanami discussing how this song was written and yes it has subtitles, it helps give some incite into how these two girls work together.
I still don't know very well how to feel about this song since I heard it for the first time. It's OK, but... But, anyway, the first time I heard RINNE my reaction was the same, and now I love it, so it's only a matter of time. Even if you whatch it in ptivate (and if you don't have it yet), take a look to the "DOMINATION TOUR at LINE CUBE SHIBUYA" Blu-Ray
Thanks for mentioning Maximum the Hormone in your reaction. Unlike other YT reactors, you bring some insight into your review. Ling Tosite Sigure sound like they might be another influence (I'm just learning the history of these Japanese bands)?
I'm with ya Tank on not sure when I first heard it but it's growing on me in a big way. Check out "PLAY" Live from the Feb14th 2020 concert, great new intro.
I absolutely love the energy and vibe to 'Different'. Tank can i also recommend you check out their latest 'Afterlife' and an older track 'Day dreaming'. I think you will be pleasantly surprised to the latter as the composition is just luscious.
I love your reactions! I thought this song was really interesting from what I was used to from them! This is kind of a different vibe, but I think it would be cool for you to look at!. It's another Japanese group called Sokoninaru and the song is Kyokugen ha Setsuna! It's a very weird and eclectic vibe that I fell in love with.
Way to go on falling down the rabbit hole that is Band-Maid. I did it abot 2 years ago and have regretted nothing. I've also found a few other bands because of them. Here's my suggestion for one to check out, Ironbunny. The guitarist is . . . well I won't give it away. I'd say start with their song "23". Another awesome one to check out is Aldious, I suggest starting with "We Are" Thanks for sharing your love of Band Maid with us, I'm subscribing so I can see you review a lot more of their stuff!
They have also released an instrumental from the new album called "dont be long" which can be heard on Spotify!! The song "different" I suspect is referring to something new compared to their previous releases and the title of the new album in light of what we have just heard may refer to a different path from the norm, I maybe wrong. We shall soon see!!
This will be the second sing they have done that will be used for something Anime related...which I know puts Akane over the moon levels of happy! :) A lot of people are saying that the opening riff is unlike anything they have ever heard Kanami do before....but I guarantee that none of them are remembering, or heard, the song Screaming...because the opening riff there is VERY chaotic in nature as well.
"This is a side of Band-Maid I haven't really seen"...........You probably should listen to more Band-Maid. ;o) This song is reminiscent of their song "Screaming" which has a similar frantic feeling to it.
Def different but ive come to expect them to cover a wide range. I love the MV for Secret Maiko Lips & The Non-fiction Days. Play is also another great one that shows off their skills. I also am getting into Hyde. His song 'Fake Divine' is fantastic
Given this was written as the theme song for an animated TV show, that frenetic quality they went for totally works. Yeah, very different for the Maids, but wow, what a musical moment!
"They asked for a fast and tight intro song for this tv-series"
Akane: Hai!
Her workpace is unreal for such a small person... No wonder she loves bananas so much, she must eaten these nonstop to keep the power high...
Apparently there is an 86 second or something like that version of this song on the single. I don't know if it is shorter or further sped up :D

I do notice she has been consistent in using them so far.
oh wow, that's sick, this is the OP for the new Log Horizon season!?!?! fucking dope. great anime, btw.
They made this song 1 or 2 years ago because waiting for the amime starting.
You should check out their MV for "alone". They use their old gear in it so you may have something new to talk about. Also the song is really good, so there is that as well.
Also has quite possibly the best guitar solo ever
Yeah, we've only really seen stuff from Domination and the World Domination tour before now. Tank, check out Blooming from the album Conquer. It was their most recent album.
The only thing you can expect from Band-Maid is that they always deliver something you did not expect.
They are Unreal Dude.
This year they released 4 new tracks on their Channel.
ITS STILL FEBRUARY!!
WTF?! XD
Def need to check out there ballad daydreaming. Amazing song.
I always waiting your reaction to BAND MAID PLAY Live Version, or RINNE most heavy BAND MAID song, maybe next time...waiting 😁
"Showtime" alright!! I feel tired just watching them. Great reaction Tank.⭐🤘
Another awesome one to check out is Aldious, I suggest starting with "We Are"
Thanks for sharing your love of Band Maid with us, I'm subscribing so I can see you review a lot more of their stuff!
They have also released an instrumental from the new album called "dont be long" which can be heard on Spotify!! The song "different" I suspect is referring to something new compared to their previous releases and the title of the new album in light of what we have just heard may refer to a different path from the norm, I maybe wrong. We shall soon see!!
Thanks for the great reaction I hope you do more, my pick for the next one would be "Rinne" one of there heaviest and well worth a listen.
Left me literally breathless.
Kanami uses Channels 2 & 3 on the Triple Rectifier.
This is a very frenetic sound. I'm not used to it from them, but it's not bad. It definitely shows off their technical ability.
Christmas song Raskasta Joulua- Tulkoon Joulu. by Marko Hietala and boys. Amazing voices.
This will be the second sing they have done that will be used for something Anime related...which I know puts Akane over the moon levels of happy! :)
A lot of people are saying that the opening riff is unlike anything they have ever heard Kanami do before....but I guarantee that none of them are remembering, or heard, the song Screaming...because the opening riff there is VERY chaotic in nature as well.
"This is a side of Band-Maid I haven't really seen"...........You probably should listen to more Band-Maid. ;o) This song is reminiscent of their song "Screaming" which has a similar frantic feeling to it.
yep, Sreaming and also Azure and Dilemna.
@@vmoore6 The opening of "Glory" too....
Yeah, it reminded me of Screaming a bit but moreso Dilemma off their last album. Massive vibes despite the fact they're completely different songs.
I don't know why, I just love that sound!
Looking forward to when you react to more of their new stuff.
& 2 my personal favourites Rinne & Blooming
Def different but ive come to expect them to cover a wide range. I love the MV for Secret Maiko Lips & The Non-fiction Days. Play is also another great one that shows off their skills. I also am getting into Hyde. His song 'Fake Divine' is fantastic
Given this was written as the theme song for an animated TV show, that frenetic quality they went for totally works. Yeah, very different for the Maids, but wow, what a musical moment!
