How to Weave Rag Rug - DIY Upcycle Weaving Project

- Step by step video tutorial how to weave rag rug from used yarn and scrap fabrics of upcycling clothes.
This video is about Kate’s hobby, she likes to weave rag rugs in traditional way on artisanal wooden weaving loom. These rag rugs look very authentic and cozy as home décor, and also Kate made them for social project of street cat houses to warm them inside.
To weave rag rug is not very complicated, but it’s quite long - you have to repeat the same steps many times. Actually, it takes 3-5 days to make one rag rug.

Materials & Tools
- weaving loom (we use local artisanal wooden weaving loom in video, but you can buy similar on the Amazon)
- used yarn (we unravel the old sweaters to recycle yarn)
- old clothes and linens to upcycle
- scissors
- crochet hook

Why aren't you using a shuttle filled with the rags. You'd be done in half the time with the same results? Your work is beautiful. Blessings.
Actually I do use shuttle to weave with only yarns. But I prefer to weave fabric stripes by fingers because it's a just a hobby and something like meditation for me, and I no need to speed up weaving process.

Dear Angel, thank you so much for the warm message!😊❤️🙏 Happy you liked this video 😍 The weaving process is meditative indeed 😊 That chair is not DIY furniture, but the upholstery was changed already twice! Kate choose the new upholstery fabric by herself. Unfortunately thas chair (and many other cozy home decor) had left in Kate's home in Ukraine from where Kate had to fled due to the war 😔 It's so sad not to be able to live in her own cozy corner where the first our videos were filmed. Hi! Lovely video. I have several of these passed down to me from my grandmother, but some of them are super long (about 12 feet?). If I may ask, do you know if I can cut them in the middle in some way and then sew the ends in a way that won't make the whole thing unravel?

Здравствуйте! Подскажите, может ли получиться хорошо подобный коврик, если плести не на станке, а на раме с гвоздями? Где нитки основы просто привязаны к гвоздям и тканевые полоски протаскиваются между ними через одну. Надеюсь, я понятно объяснила способ..)
Я знаю этот способ и пробовала его раньше, до приобретения станка. Ничего путного, что правда, у меня не вышло. Но есть мастерицы, которые отлично плетут на раме. В Ютубе много и таких видео.
