RIP RICK!!!!
Not just a Buffalo loss but truly a hockey loss
It shocks me he hasn’t mentioned it all day in any video. Should have been a first video news of the day out of respect.
As a Wings fan, I feel a strong bond with the Blues. Perron freakin rocks, Walman is an absolute steal, Husso, we basically gave them Vrana for free. It's like making deals with your brother and you're both in different conferences so it's fine lol (I also adore blue and yellow as a Michigander)
I miss the Wings in the Central. They were an absolute pain but the games were so damn entertaining.
Used to hate the Wings back in the 90s and 00s. We miss playing you guys despite how much you kicked our asses over the decades. Wings have become a favorite of mine since you left the Central and with the trades between the clubs. Here's to ya'll continuing on this upward trend and becoming a contender again.
The St Louis Red Wings and the Detroit Blues.. Thanks for taking care of Perry and the others up there!
Perron is awesome. Hated to see him go.
I am a Red Wings fan and they are the only team that I love. But if I had to choose a second team it would be the Blues.
As a Hawks fan, I naturally loathe the Blues. But they have some gorgeous jerseys and passionate fans. I would love to see a game in St. Louis one day.
RIP RJ, from a Sabres fan. Childhood hockey was shaped by him!
As a hockey fan he was a joy to listen to....
Some very memorable calls
I wonder if Shannon should do a video on the career of RJ.
He was one of those old school announcers, like St Louis' late Dan Kelly, just an absolute joy to listen to. Now that the Sabres are getting good again, it's too bad RJ won't be around to see that.
Not a Sabres fan, but Rick was as good as they get.
And look at Shannon, wearing a band t-shirt of a band that came from my small town
I’m over here like I can’t possibly hate this video he’s talking about my favorite team while wearing my favorite bands t shirt
The dark navy 3rd jersey is still my absolute favorite. The strings on the neck is just an old school touch that is a chef’s kiss. Hoping they bring it back some day
It's very near and dear to me-it's the style I remember from my childhood, guys like Oshie, Schmaltz, and Reaves. Love the round logo too. But I also agree with Shannon that the scheme they've got going now is just about perfect
I dislike everything about it. Good riddance
I love the early 90's Blues Jersey's....Mostly because my local team the Peoria Rivermen were an affiliate and won a IHL Turner Cup in '90-91 donning similar jersey's. That team had set a professional record with 18 straight wins. Had a lot of would be NHLers on that squad (Guy Hebert, Pat Jablonski, Nelson Emerson, Kelly Chase, David Bruce and my favorite was Michel Mongeau. While he had a cup of coffee in the NHL, he had a really nice minor league career)
Fun fact- at 6:39, the interior pattern on the neckline is the logo and pattern of the flag of st louis.
I'll be honest when I say it though in my opinion even though when a player moves to a different team and you have their jersey from the other team i'd still wear it. I was raised near St louis and love the Blues and grew up with Tarasenko playing for them. To me the jersey speaks more memories and fun times but still supporting your team
Excellent perspective. I would proudly rock a Tarasenko anytime anywhere.
RIP Rick Jennerette, "May Day May day!"
I'm not a fan of any jersey with a word note on it except for the Rangers but the Blues jersey with the word note on it from 1984-87 looked good. However the current Blues jersey now is my favorite. They have one of the nicest jerseys in the league. On a another note, RIP RJ
I wore a Blues jersey to a concert in Prague and all of the musicians were fascinated. They felt like it was finally a team for them.
My fiance is a huge Blues fan solely based off the fact she's a music major
@@CoyoteIslander yeah, the Blues are kind of the unofficial team for musicians. I wonder why?:-)
That comes up from time to time.
Carlos Santana is wearing a Blues jersey on the inside of one of his album covers. (I don't think he's into hockey). Ozzy Osborne has a mug shot from when he was arrested - in Memphis I think - wearing a Blues logo shirt. (Not into hockey either). I saw a video of the Guess Who wearing Blues jerseys on stage once. (They were hockey fans, but not St. Louis fans.)
Musicians just like wearing the Note.
I really wish I got a ryan Miller jersey when thy were on fullmoon, def a regret
I have a soft spot for the Blues jersey from the 1979 to early 1980s era of Mike Liut, Bernie Federko, & Brian Sutter. My buddiy's uncle was Ralph Klassen & he played on that Blues team. The 1980-81 St. Louis Blues competed for 1st place all season long with the eventual Presidents Trophy winners & the Stanley Cup Champion The New York Islanders.
My second favorite after the current whites.
I will say that the Blues do have a nice home and away jersey set
The blues current look with the white numbers is fantastic
Yellow numbers on blue. Blue numbers on white. Only correct answers for my tastes!!
That said... you do you. All a matter of personal preference, and there is no wrong way to support the Note.
I have always liked the Blues logo.
The white jersey you mention that was from the 80's that was used for the Winter Classic in Minnesota was actually used only in their first year in 67-68. They apparently changed the striping for the playoffs that same year. As a Blues fan, the red jersey burned my eyes. It was like going to McDonalds in the 80's and not being able to leave.
In St. Louis red is for baseball, and ONLY baseball. Blues are blue and yellow!! (CITY is pink.)
So do you turn off your TV every time the Cardinals wear blue?
@@fantasticvoyage262 ??? The Cardinals do wear navy hats, which they have worn historically. The Blues only had red in their palate because of Harry Ornest's wife, which he was the owner for a few years in the 80's. There is a difference.
@@jonathankarberg9985 I wasn't talking about the navy hats. The Scrubs wore a lighter baby blue long before the Cardinals did. But that didn't stop the Cardinals from wearing it again in multiple variations.
@@fantasticvoyage262 if you're talking about the baby blues, I don't know of anyone who doesn't like them. I, as well as others, have mentioned that when the Blues wore the first retro reverse jersey that was red, it seemed that our eyes were burning.
Unrelated, RIP Rick Jeanneret. Childhood not the same w/o him.
I’m pretty sure I haven’t even seen the Ornest Blues word mark in jersey form at Enterprise. That was the penny pinching days for the team, so I doubt there are many that were ever made. Little known fact, when the current white jersey debuted as a 3rd during Hull’s last year as a Blue, the shoulder on the replicas was a different shade of blue than even the next year.
As far as the clown jerseys go, the blue, red, and yellow/orange are slightly different shades when you compare the retros to the ones actually produced in the 90s. The newer version is less harsh on the eyes
That Arch third is still a favorite for me - my wife and I both got that jersey as our first (Winter Classic is my second and wraps up the hockey collection) and I miss it being on the ice. I still keep it as a desktop background on my computer from time to time; as others have noted, the drawstrings for the neckline just gives it a classic touch that I love.
I'm glad it's finally gone forever.
As a Blues fan, my absolute favorites were the blue sweaters they wore from 1998-2007 (Like your Brett Hull one). I have all four versions. 1998-99 by Starter, 1999-2000 by CCM, 2000-2004 by KOHO, and 2005-2007 by Reebok. The Starter and CCM ones had the shiny silk like dazzle material on the shoulders, sleeve ends, and tail of the sweater. All looked excellent. The Starter ones were a little slimmer fit. Loved the white ones from that time period as well, and own all four of those also. Really like the lighter blue with yellow striping on the shoulders from 1980-1984. The Blues have never had a terrible sweater, although I really wasn’t big on the red reverse retro. Great video.
Please do a video on Rick Jeanneret!!
That 90s blue that they turned into a throwback that they were once a year is my all-time favourite jersey! I’m so happy I got to add it into my collection the other day even if it’s a knock off for now
Just a suggestion, but hanging the jerseys with the hook facing away from you is a helluva lot easier for life in general.
2:11 Shannon, i had sent you a 80s Blues word mark jersey to your PO Box in Blaine back in 2020.
Where did you find it?
Me patiently waiting for Oilers>Toronto>Calgary>Vancouver collections to be uploaded...
Was hoping to see a Rivermen jersey in the mix. Love the collection none the less. I'm one of the heathens that likes the 2022 RR.
And I'm one that likes the one from 2021.
I have a blue house with a blue window
Not Shannon reminding that we stuck with a Torey who gets hurt every year and doesn’t play defense…instead of giving now 2x champ petro his ntc 😢
The Blues are my team. I have several jerseys, but my favorite has to be my autographed #32 Mike Eastwood home white jersey from 2000.
I have one of those split "monstrosities". It's absolutely ugly but I still like it.
I have been watching hockey since the Flyers entered the league, and to my discredit, I have never noticed the changes in jerseys: the Blues were always identifiably the Blues, and etc. I appreciate you highlighting the many manifestations of the jersey designs.
I always thought of all the Reebok apron string jerseys out there, the Blues actually managed to pull it off nicely
The blues occasionally wear those throw back adidas jerseys for 90s night events.
I have the third when it was worn and available from the blue note store and starter was the ones who made the on ice. The crazy time when the nhl had 4-5 different makers
The only thing I would change about the current home jersey is to go back to the yellow numbers. I know the change to white numbers was to make it easier for broadcasting, but in my opinion they had it right!
AMEN!!!
Idk I really love being able to see the numbers the yellow is so hard to read on the alternate jerseys which has made me prefer the normal home jerseys over the alternate.
Nah, I like the white numbers more.
Rest in Peace Rick 💔
The Blues jerseys in the early days were pretty good. Then some dolt put the tacky “BLUES” over the note logo, which was plain awful. Then they got to where your collection starts.
shannon your absolutely right that mid 2010s tertiary jersey is the best one we had and we need to bring it back
If you’re talking about the one with the arch, I heard that since it was a Checketts era design, we shouldn’t expect to see it under this ownership
No. We really don't.
I won't do that half and half thing and I know it's not hockey but I've seen the Steelers sell those in their team store and I just shook my head.
The only monstrosity I have is a caps 2018 stadium series jersey I got on sale and I put the penguins current number and name plate on it for brooks orpik. I never wear it and got it for myself as a memento for my first favorite player when I started watching hockey.
Thanks for the suggestion on contacting Ben H Sports directly! I’ve wanted the “Gretzky Era” Blues for a long time, and I just bought it from him! I always associate it with Brett Hull though. Where did you send yours for customization?
He likely got it already customized from him.
I've been looking for the wordmark jerseys from 86 for about a decade now. I'm convinced none exist that aren't kitted
Winter Classic at 6:32 should be their primary, just a perfect looking jersey. Just have and the white version and you're set. Beautiful. I also love the yellow one too from last year. Use that as the third.
I do like thos lighter shade blues from yesteryear
Ive always liked tge Blues uniform, logo A1
6:30 I've always thought that those jerseys have looked good on Shannon in videos. That blue is just his color. No homo.
I got my son the third "Arch" jersey with Kariya on it. Gorgeous jersey. Hate the red monstrosity. Fave is the 79 - 84.
While classic teams like the Habs, Rangers and Blackhawks have had the same look for decades, the Blues have consistenly the best jerseys in the league considering how many times they have changed them.
its a classic design and classic logo with great colors, but they change enough to keep things interesting. Even the red one manages to look good.
I love the Blues and hate the Hawks (required by law) but man, those Chicago jersies...
Miss those days going between the Old Barn and the United Center.
Oh, and stop interrupting the national anthem you losers!
The Tricolor has become a regular throwback, in addition to the Heritage third. About 2 or 3 times a season.
Quite the collection! I'm a sucker for round logos, so I really enjoy the late '80s-early '90s trumpet logo and the mid-2000s arch logo. Plus the city flag across the neck of several of the jerseys is a nice touch.
If you were to pick any player in Blues history, whose jersey do you think would make the best addition to the collection? I think Noel Picard, Mike Liut, Chris Pronger, or Kelly Chase are all good options
I love the trumpet. But despise the arch.
RIP Tarasenko jersey! 😢 Also, your tastes in jerseys is the exact opposite of mine. 😎
Hope the wildfires are not near you!
I love that dark blue Reebok third jersey. Been after one for a while
My problem with the third jersey that you love at the 6:45 mark is just that I don’t like a round crest for the logo. Minnesota has one of those too and with logos with such unique shapes like the Blues and Wild I don’t want it “confined” if that makes sense. I like the shape of the logo defining the crest on the front. Make it big. Make it pop.
I know. That’s what he said.
But my point still stands. I like the color scheme though, I like the drawstrings, and I also like what they did inside the logo with the arch in there too.
Just not my preference. It’s on my lower end of the spectrum of Blues jerseys, but they’ve got a lot of good ones, so even a lower tier jersey from them is still good.
It's a pathetically lazy attempt at a new logo. I don't mind a circle logo as long as it isn't a copy and paste of a previous logo. And the drawstrings serve no purpose. Get rid of them.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
I have the blues word mark over the small note
Any Blues jersey with red trim is wrong!! The colors are Blue (primary) and Yellow (secondary). And of course White, and to a lesser degree Black get involved as neutral colors.
While I don't like the reverse retro design that was used most recently (Because the Blues had never previously used that uniform design on the ice) at least it reversed the correct colors. Yellow trim on Blue reversed is Blue trim on Yellow. Red was only a brief mistake in the early-mid 90's that we can't seem to let go of.
The retro I would like to see most (and has not been done) is the whites from '73 to '84 or the corresponding darks from '79 to '84. Clean look and I love the shoulder striping that goes down the arm a bit ending in a half circle. I grew up with these and I love them!!
My favorite Blues Jersey is the '98 - '07 home white / '14 - present road white. I consider these to be the same jersey because they pretty much are. Perfection was achieved in '98 and the Blues did well going back to it.
I wish we could go back to the whites being the home jersey for some teams (other teams do better with darks). The Note contrasts so beautifully against a white background. Its a great jersey that looks good in motion. (The darker blue logo on dark blue kind of needs to be still to see it.)
Last note: Never put a word mark on the jersey. The Note speaks for itself. Everyone knows the blue 1/64 note is St. Louis.
Of course are just my preferences. If the "clown jerseys" with the red and diagonal striping are your favorite then get one and wear it proudly. I hate that one, but I'll do what I like, and you do what you like!
False. Red trim was part of their look going all the way back to 1984. It continued to be on the jerseys until 1998.
As for the Blues Reverse Retro jerseys I know that the RR 1.0 jersey everyone called it the McDonald's jersey and for the RR 2.0 jersey it was alright but I think I like the RR 1.0 jersey better
Great video Shannon. Your favorite is mine as well. Beautiful jersey!
When did Ryan Miller play for the Blues?
2014. It was not a success.
@@defaultuser1447And only for the post trade deadline line part of that season and the disastrous playoffs.
As far as I know they still wear the 90s throwback, but only once a year
Thanks for doing this!! I have a bunch of these myself and yes the original blues 3rd jersey is one of my favs as well!!! maybe they will bring it back soon who knows.
My guy the starter with the slick material is when the look was the third jersey for the last season of the clown jerseys
The slick material on the numbers and bluenote?
Yes when they became full time the slick on the sleeves was there but not on the logo I want to say by 99 all the slick was gone
@@drewhanes2106 The Starter and Pro Player replicas had some shiny material on the sleeves. The authentics were made of better materials. And didn't have it.
I talked to another collector. And they said the vinyl on the bluenote, numbers, and name remained throughout the spring of 1998. But the start of the next season, it was replaced with twill.
Lifelong Blues fan, so enjoyed this. My favorite still the late 70s, but I actually liked the one that said BLUES above the logo.
I figure somebody has another jersey just like that first monstrosity with the colours reversed.
How many split jerseys you got? Is someone removing and putting the fight strap back on? Or is the fight strap left intact?
Where is the RJ video?
Believe me, that video is coming
I didn't know you had so many Blues jerseys...it's good to see. The worst ones are the last one you featured, the red and yellow. Poor choices for reverse retros, especially the yellow. I believe it is the only jersey they've worn that did not have the traditional Blue Note somewhere on the garment. That logo was a prototype, as you said, and thankfully, it wasn't used (until now). I did always love the shoulder logo with the horn, like on the Gretzky jersey. I thought they made an otherwise garish jersey somewhat interesting.
Red or yellow were the only options. Unless you don't understand what Reverse Retro even means.
I have always liked the 80's style with logo and word mark above, it reminds me of the ludicrous scoring that decade and how good Mike Liut was during it. Also the dark blue still really pop's and would look good on a 3rd.
Liuuuuuuuuuuuuuut!!!!!!!!!! Pearson award winner. Man he was awesome on an awful team. Hated that Gretzky flipgoal from behind the net that rolled off his back. It was brilliant though!
@@NotInMyRepublic Proof that goalies in the 80's were good.
Agree the 3rd is so sharp
#LGB
The Reebok 3rd with the Arch Logo Patch is literally my favorite. Still own mine after having it for like 13 years. And it's a Steen Jersey. And it looks like Steen is staying with the Organization for the future as a Scout. So I'm exceptionally happy.
Homer, it's supposed to be leather patches on a tweed jacket not the other way around. Now you've ruined a perfectly good jacket
Thats TWO perfectly good jackets
I like all of em equally and cant think of a ugly one but bias as a blues fan
Glad to see the love for the Navy arch jersey. It's my favorite. Only player jersey I have. That player is Andy MacDonald.
I've never seen the split one before. Fortunately.😅
I love that third jersey as well. Some love it and some are wrong. Perfect!😅
The next time I find one in the dumpster, I'll be sure you send it your way.
The arch 3rd jersey is my favorite jersey tbh
I have never understood the love affair with it. It sucks so much.
Only the Starter replicas have the crappy logos. The one on my authentic is much better quality.
Love the Reebok 3rd.....something a little different. Bring it back!
Reebok 3rd is the best. Really was wishing for that as a retro/reverse retro
I'm glad it didn't. It sucks.
definitely want to see a navy 3rd back in rotation.
Impatiently waiting for the Rangers collection 😤
Totally agree w that 2016 Reebok 3rd w the drawstrings and the Arch in the logo. Lost in a fire- sad. Need to bring that 3rd back. The yellow and red 3rds are hideous.
I was hoping they’d make a white version of the arch logo jersey for reverse retro 2.0
The issue most diehards have with the red sweater is that our biggest rival(s) wear(s) red (hawks/wings). We are the BLUES. I like the yellow RR, but it reminds me a bit much of a newer hated rival (Nashville). But that logo is amazing!
So what. The Cardinals wear a shade of blue that the Scrubs used to wear. And no one ever complains about it. The red is so minimal it really isn't worth raising a fuss over.
You’re right, that Reebok 3rd (dark blue) is awesome. Not a fan of the red from the 90’s.
I have the Boston version of that monstrosity and it's just as ugly.
I don't know there's this part of me that thinks the Winter Classic jerseys will become the main jerseys in the future
I really hope not.
I noticed you hang your hangers up backwards
Split jerseys are only good when parents wear them ala 2 teams 2 duffrent sons
Hello hockey fans..The leafs Still Suck!!! ✌️😅 #1967 Forever!!!...
Why yes. Yes they do.
I hate that red reverse retro so much. It makes me angry when I see it. It's even worse when they are on the ice.
The Winter Classic jerseys are amazing, though.
There's no such thing as a right or wrong opinion. And that arch jersey is nothing but garbage.
As a Blues fan, I hate seeing red on a jersey because it just doesn’t go. Also not a fan of the really dark navy.
Royal blue, powder blue, yellow, and white/cream. Keep it within those colors and I’ll probably love it forever.
(Side note: whoever decided on the clown jersey with the rounded edges and the big loud design and then felt the need to write St. Louis on the logo in the most plain white default font ever is terrible and should not design jerseys again.)
The rounded bluenote looks nicer to me. I wish the city name wasn't on it. Red doesn't bother me. I don't like the navy blue on the arch alternate either.
Eww that red 1……., just awful and I’m a lifelong fan. 😂. Yes ur favorite is THE BEST JERSEY EVER; I agree. Love the Gretzky 1 to. Our jerseys for upcoming season are good 👍🏻.
disagree so bad. the light blues or the 80’s (and early 90’s) were the best they had. Their current jersey is so bland
