    Hahaha best card force ever... he's literally telling the guy "Don't feel forced, just choose any card and put in the chisel" while physically grabbing the chisel and sticking it in himself hahaha.

    The giant deck of cards is an OK idea, but I love the forklifts. The idea of using the graceful maneuvers of forklifts to spiff up a magic trick is the kind of thing I'd expect from Penn and Teller.

    The bottom of every card is magnetized. They just placed the card upside down when they put it back in, so that the handkerchief magnets attach only to that card. The rest is just as you said :D

    If you look carefully at 4:55, you can see that his card is bowed upwards from the top. The rest of the cards are bowed downwards. When he chose the card, it was placed into the deck upside down allowing Teller to clip the only raised card from the top of the deck. It is only higher in the middle where all the other cards are lower in the middle. Thats why the King is rightside up while the 7 of Hearts is actually depicted upside down.

    But if you take a fourth look, you can see that teller clearly told his army of invisible flying monkeys to hook it up, afterwards using using a rainbow colored mist to distract the audience as Teller gives the monkeys martial arts lessons as a reward for their work.
    Ladies and gentlemen, that is how Penn and Teller did this trick.

  • @JLP4444
    @JLP4444 12 років тому

    Fun, but I have to say, sometimes I wish Penn & Teller would try a little bit harder. It's sort of obvious that Teller is putting something on top of the chosen card when he holds it up. Then you can easily see two large rectangular magnets in the handkerchif he puts over the cards...

    If you take a second look, and actually use your head, you will see that penn hits the card on the opposite side of which Lou signed it, so that when teller went to feel the card with his hands, the hit was on the bottom since he pulled it up with Lou's initials on the top at 4:48

  • @dunbar9finger

    Obviously the chisel marks the edge of the card by scraping it. and by placing the forklift up higher than the volunteer, they guarantee the angle of the chisel is upward, so it will scrape the bottom card but not the top card.. But I loved the shoveling with forklifts part.

    Now you know that's just ridiculous. Obviously Teller palmed the marked card and just put it back in at the right position after they shuffled.

  • @jkong000
    @jkong000 12 років тому

    Its bound to be more simple than that. The king is placed in the deck the other way up to all the others. All the other cards are the same way up. All they need to do is put some sort of hole or magnet in the top of each card. When one is turned over, it can be identified

  • @searsthefirst
    @searsthefirst 12 років тому

    I figured it out. Somehow, penn and teller magnetized the card the guy chose. If you look carefully, the handkerchief has two squares on it, probably magnets, and because of that, (seeing the magnets react to certain cards certain ways) teller knew which one was his card, and then attached a clip to it (that was attached to the for,lift) :D

    I believe the key moment in the trick is when Teller places the handkerchief. I don't believe they care that much about damaging the deck because as you can see they smash one of the prongs of the fork into the bottom of the deck.
    So Teller strategically places the handkerchief in the right spot where the card is, where he can easily spot by the damage done to the card with the chisel at the beginning.

  • @EXRazeBurn
    @EXRazeBurn 12 років тому

    jk probably has a point here rand. While the gimmick of being "large" isn't something that implies a specific "prestige" to the trick, one does have to wonder why they would bother with METAL as opposed to paper of that size (while both would be expensive to produce, magicians prefer to keep "props" as close to a set standard as possible to avoid speculation except when it's unavoidable).
    The idea of a magnet or similar metallic-based marker isn't far-fetched.

    That's why it usually starts with "pick a card, any card". You automatically assume there is free choice involved when there usually isn't. Builds the moment at the end; "Wow I chose from 52 cards too, that's amazing" If you knew there was only a couple options or most of the time none it wouldn't be magical.
