Visited Verona in 2022 while on holiday in Gardasee. It was magical. The Verona Card is a MUST HAVE. the fruit cups in the market by Juliets balcony was INCREDIBLE on a summer day.

The Verona Arena is 70 years older than the Colosseum of Italy. I loved Verona. I visited it in 2019.

After 5 visits to Italy I FINALLY learned ...
Do not say CIAO to a shopkeeper or employee in a store / cafe unless they are your actual real life friend .
Instead say the formal respectful SALVE ( sal vugh ) ....
It's what every Italian knows ... but tourists don't .

Il nome corretto della zuppa di midollo è pearà ( dialetto veronese ). In realtà il midollo non è l'ingrediente principale, importante per il sapore ma in quantità moderata

When we visited Verona, I thought the high points were the colosseum, the archeological museum and Roman Theater, and the Castelveccio.

Don't forget if you are day visiting on a Monday the Castelvecchio castle and museum and also the Roman Archeological Museum are both closed so a Verona day tourist pass may not be worthwhile.

It's a general travel rule that the best restaurants are not in prime tourist areas, BUT the best meal I had in northern Italy was at a Veronan restaurant down an alley very near the plaza where the arena is (the plaza itself is lined with restaurants that are tourism central, so this was just fifty feet away from the prime territory).

The Teatro Romano is a MUST, as is the museum directly UP from that. I spent so much time, looking at all of the names carved into the seats, and it was not overrun at all with tourists. I was alone a good deal of the time.

Funny, I did a completely different Verona than you did. I visited 11 churches in one day there. And not even the big 4, but the smaller ones. There is an organization giving free tours there to make them more popular and give information there. It was overwhelmingly fun to do, but oh boy, it was much. It's free to do and enjoy it. Every church is different and has it's own unique story and feats. My favourite was one with huge paintings from famous painters of the Renaissance. Only that is worth a day trip. Also there are a lot of Roman archeological sites there. Also worth your time.

Dr. Wolter, I was unable to understand your comments through the background noise in this video. While I do like the new/different transitions and graphics the bulk of information I get from your videos comes from your commentary. They just don't work well if I can't understand you due to background noise or music.

I just got back from Italy, but Verona wasn't one of the cities we visited. We visited Milan, Venice, Florence, Rome, and Sorrento. We took the Italo Bullet Train to get around between the cities, except for Sorrento, since the Bullet Train doesn't go there.

New music under your description, Mark. It is kinda edgy and makes you want to move/travel.
Good choice! First time I was in Verona we came with our dog who absolutely would not pee anywhere but on grass. Finally, just near the arena there was a small triangle where she spent the better part of two minutes, and it was the only grass we saw in the town.
