ABC boss concedes Laura Tingle made ‘error’ with racism comment

- ABC Managing Director David Anderson has conceded Laura Tingle made an “error” when she labelled Australia a “racist” country.
Mr Anderson fronted Senate Estimates on Thursday following uproar over Ms Tingle’s comments.
“I'm not embarrassed by it. I wish it hadn't happened, to be honest with you, Senator," he said.
“I think what Mr Stevens' note sets out - it does a number of things. One is that he is stating quite clearly that that error by Miss Tingle - that she regrets - is not something that we expect to see from our journalists.”

With an incoming LNP government, Australians demand not only a complete management overhaul but, a thorough review of the funding, staffing, and relevance of the ABC.
A return to the original charter is what is needed.

or a total takeover by Sky,
so we finally get fairness and balance on reporting facts and not self serving commentary in this ounce great institution.
It's a nice idea, but they've always been much too cowardly to do anything meaningful to hold "our" ABC to its own charter.
Unfortunately, I doubt the Coalition has the backbone.
Laura needs to be called out on this and take a page from the people on sky.
Always be fair and balanced and don't take sides on any issue including race, religion or ethnicity.
The ABC as a national Broadcaster is a disgrace ! Anyone who thinks they are independent is a far left nut job!

The most crafted and contrived responses I've ever heard. You could see him visibly pause at moments before he opened his mouth. I cant stand the thought that my taxes are funding the voices of people whom I completely and utterly disagree with. It makes my skin crawl.

Laura Tingles conduct position is untenable at the ABC. Her continued employment with the broadcaster will only hasten the demise of the ABC with it's already shrinking viewer numbers.

She is a seasoned journalist, and accustomed to talking off the cuff,
It is reprehensible to have journalists in our public broadcaster, and on the board, who are so contemptuous of Australians.
We have every right to discuss the number and composition of our country. Look at the mess in the UK and Europe. Let’s not allow ourselves to end up the same way, due to virtue-signalling dog-whistlers like Tingle (who, by the way, doesn’t even really live in the communities she is judging).
I’ve generally thought highly of her, but this is unacceptable.
I also notice Sarah Hanson-Young yelling, as usual. She’s a harpy.
