Great Video of an area that holds many memories for me tho I've gotta admit calling Upminster East London in the title irks me a bit lol, despite being a London Borough Havering is still geographically a part of Essex, we still use Essex in our address plus the RM postcode and 01708 dialling code which encompasses the whole of Havering covers most of Thurrock also
Thank you for your comment. I think that if I were to not call Upminster East London, there might be people who would be upset about me not including it in London. For this reason I have to go by the information I find about it, to ensure that I don’t make too many mistakes. I do make mistakes sometimes within the videos and it’s so frustrating because I can’t take them off and redo them. In some cases. :(
@World Traveller thankyou for your reply, this is actually a very contested and complex subject, with the addresses of everyone having Essex outside the E postcode which includes the boroughs of Havering, Redbridge, Dagenham and Barking and part of Waltham Forest, the LGA 1963 only altering the administrative boundaries of Essex as historic and administrative counties are 2 seperate entities and there was no effect on the border of the Historic County of Essex by the LGA 1963 and lastly Greater London being a local government area not a county by definition of the LGA 1972, all this creates an interesting debate against the inaccuracies on Wikipedia lol but honestly the majority of ppl in Havering regard us as a London Borough in Essex
I always base it on the culture and people rather than geography. Whilst East London and Essex are virtually cousins and have been forever with many East Enders moving and settling in Essex (just like how South Londoners f off to Surrey), Upminster for me has and will always be more Essex than the East End...And i say that as someone who grew up in Upminster and also hung out in the East End most weekends at the same time...
I am absolutely sick and tired of all this 'Upminster, Romford, Hornchurch etc being referred to as East London . It is NOT East London as a post earlier on stated we don't have a London postcode or dialling tone and only in 1965 did we fall under the London boroughs banner but geographically and historically we are ESSEX.
Thanks for this, am planning to go there myself as part of my project to visit the area of every terminus on the London Underground. Noticed a "Wimpey Bar" brings back fond memories of first dates in the 70's :)
PLEASE do NOT be mislead about Upminster ....yes it looks posh..but I lived there for 30 years and watched its decline. Did you know one of Upminsters roads is the one with the most aggravated burgalries in Essex ??? Did you know COOPERS SCHOOL ( nik name- gooptas n patels ) has had more police reports for its pupils than any other in upminster. The once renowned school has slipped way down the rankings since Havering allowed children ( thugs) from Romford and ilford into it , pull up outside the school as children make their way to it in the mornings and you will wonder even if there is a uniform... most hurl abuse at you if you dont let them jaywalk in front of you. There are beggars everywhere and pick pockets galore. But no-one will want to admit it.
@@deesarthafaks I agree with most of his rant . It has taken a tumble, with the area also now having a distinct Estuary English sound to it , such a shame.
Absolutely wonderful video, I must visit here at some point.
Thank you very much ❤️
Lovely part of East London too.
It's NOT east London.
@tonychettleburgh8953 it has been since 1965.
But whatever floats your boat, if you want to still call it Essex, go for it.
@@tonychettleburgh8953
Of course it is.
Nice music selection who’s playing at end?

Historic counties are also known as former counties, why, because they no longer exist.
@Deesar Thafaks of course they still exist, no act of Parliament has ever abolished the historic counties
Great work mate !
Thank you so much 😊

I call it the far east for no reason lol
This is a beautiful part of London
They're all east London, and they all have a London postcode RM. Being in London Boroughs means they are geographically in London not Essex.
Not me knowing all of these shops as I live there 😂
Why are you chasing that man?

My condolences
Upminster looks great 👍
I live there. I can promise you it only looks good
Does it ??
Better than the rest of London
@@Sillimant_better than south london 😂 I’d happily live there
This is my home town.
Then you're a Londoner.

That’s very sad to hear. :(
Since Upminster is not in Essex the rest of your rant is suspect...

@@deesarthafaks Upminster IS in Essex do some research.
@ListenUp-py1qm Not London , but Essex .
