Harry (Dane DeHaan) forces Menken (Colm Feore) to give him a serum which transforms him into Green Goblin.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
The web-slingin' wall-crawler hits the screens once again in this follow-up to Marc Webb's 2012 reboot of the series. Andrew Garfield returns as Peter Parker, who squares off against the villainous Electro, played by Jamie Foxx. As the film opens, we find Richard (Campbell Scott) and Mary Parker (Embeth Davitz) stealing away with some crucial Oscorp files while leaving young Peter in the care of Aunt May (Sally Field) and Uncle Ben. Flash forward about a decade, and Peter (Garfield) is swinging into action as Spider-Man; having successfully thwarted the hijacking of an Oscorp truck by notorious Russian criminal Aleksei Sytsevich (Paul Giamatti), Peter ditches the costume just in time to meet up with Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) at their high school graduation. Despite his deep love for Emma, however, Peter remains haunted by his promise to her late father not to get emotionally involved with her for fear that she could be targeted by Spider-Man's enemies. Meanwhile, young Harry Osborne (Dane DeHaan) inherits OsCorp and a deadly retrovirus from his father Norman (Chris Cooper), and brilliant but timid OsCorp scientist Max Dillon (Jamie Foxx) gets infused with a powerful dose of electricity while attempting to fix a faulty power circuit in the lab. Upon regaining consciousness, Max discovers that he has the power to harness electrical currents - the higher the voltage the more powerful he becomes. When a battle with Max in Times Square shorts out Spidey's web-shooters, Peter goes to work on developing a more reliable model of his signature weapon while Harry grows convinced that Spider-Man's blood is the key to his survival. Later, villainous OsCorp chairman Donald Menken (Colm Feore) steals the company out right out from under Harry, driving the vengeful youth to break Max -- now Electro -- out of the heavily-guarded Ravencroft Institute for a two-pronged attack on Menken and Spider-Man. The stage for that battle is set when New York City goes dark just as Peter declares his love to Gwen, plunging the wise-cracking web-slinger into a fight that could forever alter the course of his life.

When you rewatch the scene with Harry and his father you realise Norman didn't get his ghoulish appearance from his disease but the spider venom ( meaning Norman much like his son tried to use the spider venom to cure himself ). It perfectly foreshadows Harry's predicament . It also reveals that Spiderman was right to assume if he gave Harry his blood it would have caused even more harm on Harry . Harry's only temporalily healed soley because of the combat suit . Its ironic that if Harry hadn't have started the chain of events that lead to Electro wrecking havoc on the city and Harry taking the spider venom when Peter found out the full details of his fathers work , Peter could have told him with certainty that the venom would be rendered useless for Harrys condition.
The spider venom is triggering the disease by attacking it.
When he was locked up, he did says that his affliction comes and goes so it makes sense

He did really great as Green Goblin.
Its a shame that they gived to him such a short screen time
Black Lesnar he might actually be my favorite Green Goblin, yes, even better than the one from the first Spider-Man film, because this one gets super strength and stuff like the other one got, but also this one actually got turned into a goblin of sorts, I like it a lot. Also his suit and glider look so badass

his this role in this movie was to showing us how harry osborne turned into green goblin. they were gonna use it in the long term, so they wanted to get rid of the character origin and introduction.
and i got to say i love it. i love how this GG borned from betrayal, desperation and pain. i wasnt fan of that ''we gotta save the company, i better use this risky experiment on myself'' scenario. and i also love how he killed gwen at the first day of his career as the bad guy. it was not just a good villain introduction it was also a good build up for the antagonism between him and spiderman

Both electro and goblin transformations were electrifying
I like the idea that without the suit, he's in unbearable pain and that it's his only source of relief from that pain. Also, i feel that putting on the suit would be quit painful with all parts having to attach to his body to actually heal him, but he's in so much pain already that it doesn't make it any worse.
Like Darth Vader except Harry’s suit wasn’t designed to keep him in constant pain.
It would have been hilarious if he turned into Leonardo Dicaprio.

What I love about this scene is the kind of creepy thing that happens when he turns into Green Goblin, how his body morphs, and how he screams in agony as he turns into the Goblin because of how venomous the poison injection was. I also really loved the mech armor. This scene really puts “horror” in its position! Kind of eerie, really spooky, kind of gives you the chills!
That eerie music from 1:19 is freaking cool. Hans nailed it.
The deleted version thats in the directors cut that we don’t have is way more darker and a lot better for sure.

Gotta say, I like this portrayal of Goblin, this is still one of the creepiest Spider-Man scenes.
Not alot of people know this but there’s an extended version of this scene that shows more of the transformation, shows more of his bones moving, his nails growing, him biting his own teeth out from the pain, etc.

They could have mixed the spider venom serum along with Pete's blood in order to provide a self healing affect,since certain spiders can heal rapidly from injuries or diseases I assume, it probably would cured Harry's condition without killing him....Peter should have found another way to save him instead of hesitating to let him die....if you don't think about others other then your self, then your emotionally selfish and less of a human being if you refuse to help someone in need of saving if they're begging you to help them.If harry was already dying it wouldn't have made a difference, unless if it was a successful miracle.Spidey couldn't kept his options opened but instead he hesiated,some times I didn't understand him on how he thinks from the comics you know what I mean?

Yeah even though when Harry said it wasn't curable to his diseases but it was stronger enough to heal his damaged body parts then provide mobility to his body incase if he needed extra fuel to move him more.I liked that part too normal would have had this type of technology advanced in his suit if he created those types of systematic upgrades I believe.
Hearing Harry scream in pain while that bone chilling music is playing is just creepy, you can’t tell tasm2 took a different approach at the green goblin, and I think it’s fantastic!

Dane Dehaan's goblin should of been the main villain in the movie, he should of turned into goblin way earlier on in the film but I still liked his moment at the end and he definitely shined as the goblin
i would have him stay as harry in this film and then he becomes goblin in TASM 3
This scene was really incredible, the first time I watched it on big screen but that blinking lights really killed my eyes!

Jack Curtis Honestly! I mean, yeah, some of the acting kinda sucks and the writing is a _little_ wonky, but the movie is shot well and is really enjoyable to watch. I like it better than the first one, at least.

Owenboy360 yup, shoulda just stuck to green goblin. Electro was badass, don't get me wrong, but his motive and reason to hate Spider-Man was weak. While harry, there's a deleted scene were he shows peter Norman was spying on him since childhood this could've showed harry that his dad paid more attention towards peter than him, Norman telling him he was going to die, being sent to boarding school, being betrayed by oscorp, Spider-Man(peter) not giving him his blood, those would've been good motives for Harry. Gwen shouldn't have died either, and more Harry and Felicia screen time. Dane's harry could've been written a lot better, his goblin was dope, he really looked like a goblin, but if they'd just focused on him, character development would've been executed way better.

The movie might have been bad but this transformation scene and fight scenes were really top notch and well thought out.
What would’ve made this green goblin more aesthetic pleasing is if the suit had a face mask covering the mouth and ocular lens to mimic a monocle without the change of hair.
