Marcus made Victor into a vampire because he needed an army, and Victor was a general. Victor's soldiers are loyal only to him, if Marcus killed Victor then Victor's army would kill Marcus. In order to prevent Victor from overthrowing him Marcus told him that because he is the original vampire if he were to die then all vampires would die with him, including Victor himself. Basically, he lied to cover his back.

Marcus in the film is an unused potential, the next parts do not know why they introduced their daughter Selene, who did not contribute anything I personally would side with Marcus, I really liked him, and would tell him this ,one risk, but in 99% he wouldn't kill me notice that he fed himself on horse, he might have attacked some people,he didn't

I really liked this and i'm not all that fond of the underworld series. but personally i think marcus should have won the whole thing, since i find him a far more interesting character then any of the ''heroes''
No William is off on his own he is neither lycan nor like the spawn of him. He is the first true Werewolf. Williams spawn are just smaller versions on him but never are equal to his power.

It's really sad as Marcus only wants to free his twin brother but on the other side, if they were let to live, they'd be killing so many people.
