Do you have a notebook or use a Staology or any other binder book for common placing? Shops mentioned is Colorful Paper Garden + Mushie Works on Etsy, Paper Minty Studio, Love of Stationery of NY on Etsy, Daiso + The Giving Girl.

After three years of watching videos on all manner of journals (junk journals, bullet journals, and, most recently, Commonplace Books) plus trial and error and buying way too much stuff, I have settled on using my Franklin Planner Classic (now known as Franklin-Covey) as my bullet journal. The cover it came with still looks perfect after 40+ years (!!!!!) so I ordered a new "starter pack" and will be good to go. The rings allow the flexibility of moving portions around or deleting them altogether and I find myself still reaching for it as it had become my address/phone book. (I use smart phones as little as possible.) The size and flexibility of the Franklin planner will fulfill my preference to have only one book for everything. That is, except for my Commonplace Book. I see it as an oasis in society's sea of noise and techno-blab - a place to escape, write on lovely paper with a special fountain pen, and let my deepest feelings flow. I have chosen the Hobonichi Cousin Techo with a blush pink cover. I need a lot of room to write - one of my favorite quotes is by Florence Littauer, author and awarded one of America's top 10 public speakers who I am blessed to have called a friend: "If one word is enough, 1,000 are better!" I can take ten minutes to say hello...lol. I'm excited to begin my mid-year journey using a vintage book of my youth and a Japanese-inspired book that oozes "calm."
And yes, things change when we age. Until several years ago I felt like I was still 40 - psychologically, emotionally, and even physically when I took great care of my body. But life happened. I am 69 years old, my mother is still living and is 90 but developed vascular dementia over five years ago. I am an only child and it was horrifying to experience my sweet, loving mother's mind somehow shortwire into accusing me of stealing her wigs and other far worse things. My step-father is 92 and took her out of memory care recently (OY!) and didn't tell me. My life is literally upside down and when I think too much that I am totally alone, single, no siblings, no children, and, due to living with depression and anxiety, have no social network, I almost can't catch my breath. When I've been to the hospital I literally have no one to call for next-of-kin. The first half of my life was 180 degrees different with no thought in my mind it wouldn't always be that way. I plan on using my Bullet Journal and Commonplace Book to rebuild my life.

I completely understand where you are coming from. Being a caregiver is a lonely path especially when there is no one else who understands such as friends or family. I absolutely just love having my commonplace notebooks they bring me peace, joy and a sense of normalcy with comfort. Thank you so much for sharing your story. I am glad there are other caregivers finding each other here.

I love commonplace books. I've used one on and of since the end of 2020 and I'm more in love tan ever. I currently use a traveler's notebook for my commonplacing. It works great for me! Lovely video!

I just bought a SFD passport insert as well and was thinking of using it as a commonplace book as well. Thank you for the inspiration and for sharing yours!
