Wait.. This is a parallel universe for guitar and bass.
3 bass 1 guitar instead of 3 guitar 1 bass.
    Now i can't unsee it.

May your bass sounds absolutely amazing. And you are a bad-ass player. Why is it that your 4 string fender sounds so much fuller and clearer than the other basses (which are hi end 5 strings)?

This kind of sound is a combination of things. Typically 4 string basses are better for slapping tonally because the neck tends to be thicker than on a 5-6 string instrument. The Equalization is really important: typically 2 band EQs such as the Sadowsky found in Marcus Miller's bass are shelving EQs, which means that they boost a wide range of frequency relatively equally. In order to retain the powerful bottom end of the sound, you must first boost the bass SIGNIFICANTLY (at least 6-8dB) using a shelving EQ boosting equally from 0 to 90hz and that progressively tapers off all the way up to 500hz.
Then, getting a convincing scooped sound depends on the characteristics of your bass: If your bass has a maple fretboard and the relatively rare 70'ies pickups spacing (where the bridge pickup is unusually close to the bridge), you might not have to do anything more to already have that clear scooped sound. However, if your bass has a rosewood fretboard and 60'ies pickup spacing, you will most likely have to remove some low mid frequencies using a narrow (Q: 1.4 to 2) bell EQ centered around 270-280hz in order to make the fundamental frequency of each note you play sound more focused. If your bass has a high mass bridge that allows a lot of contact between the saddles and the strings, and if your strings are well maintained, you can get away generally without even having to boost the trebles at all. If your bass does not have those characteristics (especially the strings), you won't really be able to get a good projection of high frequencies when popping the strings, but you can sort of try to boost the trebles by maybe up to 3 dB max. Notice how the guy with the best bass tone completely on the left has a Jazz bass with 70ies pickup spacing, a high mass bridge, AND a maple fretboard? :) It doesn't have to be the "Marcus Miller" model lol!

@@Silent_Stillness thanks for your explanation. But apart from what you explained I tend to add that the preamp he has modded his bass with i.e. Bartolini XTCT helps to get that tone. XTCT is similar model to TCT which was installed by Roger Sadowsky in Marcus Miller 's 77's jazz bass back then. Also the EMG pickups he has on his bass have an impact on the tone clarity. I think these two i.e. PUs and onboard preamp are even more important than the bridge. But on top of all of these, the bass player with his techniques has a great impact on the tone which shouldn't be underestimated. The way he plays that bass drives the big portion of that nice tone.
