What a Man. How clearly and brilliantly he sets out exactly what to say, how to say it with the full panoply of expression reflecting a level of deep intelligence that is inherent in his character. If I were to set out as an actor, I would study Olivier massively, and then study him some more. WS, I am certain, must look down on him and say to himself, ' That's the man for my plays!!'
A driving factor of success is gentle poverty, he says. A driving force behind the maintenance of character and conviction amidst a barrage of harshness and criticism is ....being used to people disliking and disapproving of you and growing "thick" to it.

my definition of the absolute perfection in playing: Sir Larry Olivier!

I find myself coming back to this again and again to re-listen to Larry's thoughts on Macbeth.
"For five years, we tasted the blessings of a permanent troupe."

The little finger down the central brow moment, tho'. Tynan clearly enjoyed that.
When I get to heaven I want to be greeted by Sir Lawrence and/or Cary Grant
Extraordinary comment
I do believe that Sir Larry acted with age better!)
