What a Man. How clearly and brilliantly he sets out exactly what to say, how to say it with the full panoply of expression reflecting a level of deep intelligence that is inherent in his character.
If I were to set out as an actor, I would study Olivier massively, and then study him some more. WS, I am certain, must look down on him and say to himself, ' That's the man for my plays!!'

I find myself coming back to this again and again to re-listen to Larry's thoughts on Macbeth.

A driving factor of success is gentle poverty, he says. A driving force behind the maintenance of character and conviction amidst a barrage of harshness and criticism is ....being used to people disliking and disapproving of you and growing "thick" to it.

The little finger down the central brow moment, tho'. Tynan clearly enjoyed that.
