Thé language used in this Rolex letter does not sound like corporate communication and makes me think it is fake …example « cutting production » instead of «substantially reduce », and a few more. Cheers
This was called out as 100% fake. Obvious error in the letter was a reference to “mailleures” when it should have been “meilleures”. Rolex would not make such a mistake. Likely the work of a grey dealer trying to get their inventory sold 😂
I popped into my local Goldsmiths yesterday where I’ve been on a waitlist for a Rolex Pepsi GMT for 2 years. They did confirm they are receiving more stock in general but also gave me the news that the Watches of Switzerland Group have added a caveat to the requirements required to qualify for a GMT. My near £20k spend history is no log enough as it doesn’t include a previous Rolex purchase from them. Silly me bought a Cartier and an Omega as well as jewellery which no longer cuts the mustard. Talk about move the goal posts!
Hi Andy, Only recently discovered your channel which is already becoming one of my favourites. Always well presented and interesting to watch. Well done and looking forward to the next.
Ive heard on another channel that production will increase by 20%. This makes more sense, due to them now offering CPO & being able to trade up. Ive noticed at my local retailer,im able to pretty much buy whatever Tudor i want. I bet there will be watches waiting in the backrooms of ADs,for trade in purposes. Just a thought.
I went to the AD in Boston first week of Jan 2023 and asked for either a Black Sub Date or GMT Batman on Oyster. got a call 7 days later and was offered the Sub. I was hoping for the GMT but I said "of course" and told them I could pick up the Sub in a week as I was out of town. They said "take my time, it will be in the safe when you can make it in"
Hey Andy, glad you are doing fine! On the toning down of the sub, I too chose RubberB to make my Bluesy fly under the radar, and it is indeed wonderful! Totally agree it’s not that hard to put a strap on, with the Rolex spring bars. Keep up the good work and stay strong!!
Good to see ya doing good. Energy levels being low sucks but Atleast you’re still kicking. Can’t wait for more content. Great watch channel. P.S. that JLC was a good purchase.
Hi Andy! Great to see you, was worried for your absence. I appreciate your objectivisim and almost always agree with your point of view. Please send some material from either expo you choose to attend. Greetings from MX.
A month ago I heard the same explanation from my Rolex AD. He said that Rolex was experiencing a shortage of parts and that supply of watches would be severely limited in the months ahead.
I have mixed views about the letter, it does sound logical and would make sense, but then some native Swiss French speakers have pointed out spelling mistakes 🤷♂️ Looking forward to the Omega review 🙏
I agree it might be just another brilliant PR message to get consumer to panic buy. As a novice to the watch industry I have been collecting since early 2019. When you look at the number of Rolex in the grey market, there's definitely enough supplies to meet demand. The question is are consumers willing to buy them at a marked up prices? Hong Kong and Japan, no doubt one of the biggest luxury watch market for resellers recently lifted some of the quarantine restrictions. I see many trades happening.
A fake PR message from some grey dealer? Yup, fairly possible. As for Rolex: they couldn’t care less and would also never come up with such letter or such a content.
Good to see you up and at it. I would imagine Rolex may have issued some comms re production vs energy consumption, however, may be a fiddled with version or poorly written side letter to a more detailed comms to AD'S. looking forward to more content.
I work in corporate comms - I don’t feel that the letter is genuine. The wording seems far too amateurish, and it is remarkably light in content for such a (supposedly) significant communication to key business partners. This isn’t the way a multi billion dollar brand would approach things, IMO.
andy, i got my blnr on oyster this past july after roughly a month (once the ad really put their effort into it) as they're really not as rare as we'd like to think (they allocated one just 3 months prior to receiving mine). cheers!
I wouldn’t, but it depends. If you can get the one you want for a bit more, and it’s the one you want and it’s a keeper, then there’s definitely a case but buy from a reputable source. watchcharts.com Is a good source of information. Only you can decide, but if you have a budget in mind, have a look at what else is available at discount. IWC, JLC, Omega, etc.
Hey always good to see one of your episodes Andy! Keep taking care of yourself man; you're looking good. I had been given the impression that there are many doubters of the letter's authenticity, but you are a serious person, so maybe i'll re-think that. And you are SO right about Omega spring bars. They are like wrestling an alligator! Looking forward to the JLC review.
Nothing is more “cynical” than the market manipulation than many manufacturers indulge in. We each must choose whether we buy in to this hype-driven, one-dimensional, agenda, or vote with our wallets. You pays your money and you takes your choice. It’s later than we all think. Stay well Andy 👍
A company the size of Rolex with the marketing prowess that it has, also has a department called marcom or marketing communications that is responsible for external communications to everyone that it interacts with including AD's. Letters from the leader of the company come under particular scrutiny because no company wants their leadership to say the wrong thing or sound like an idiot. Yes, this is a thing and I guarantee you Rolex abides by this very common business practice. The letter that has been thrown around has multiple spelling and grammatical errors that would never get past marcom and out into the public. Some idiot saw an article in Bloomberg about Rolex shutting off is lights at night as a way to conserve energy and decided to spin that into the BS story outlined in this letter. I would also guess that this letter could be from someone who wants to see values go up instead of down as they are clearly doing now.
Glad you’re making a good recovery, I love you’re relaxed style , seems to de stress me slightly. I’m caring for my mum she’s in her 90s gave up work after 40 years to help out. The watches you guys have are amazing, I especially like the batgirl . Although unfortunately my pocket only stretches to my Hamilton’s, I’ve got 3 of them two khaki field automatics one in 42 mm one 38mm and also a mechanical version. I do like the omega seamaster, really lovely watch. But I can only dream about Rolex. Great video mate
Thanks Marc. There’s always something more expensive. This hobby allows us to enjoy and experience great watches at all prices. Part of the enjoyment is the dreaming.
I finally got the call last month for a white dial Daytona and its nice to not have to worry about any potential cutbacks in production. At this point, they can do whatever they want in my book......
If you are looking for an explorer, remember Addisdive, Pagani Design and others have no such problem and are freely available. My Addisdive is running at +2sec/day so tell me again why Bolux sory Rolex are worth the money....
Gotta love a bit of Rolex industry twaddle! Honestly, AD's would be the last to hear if this was the case! Quite funny that so many people have been hoaxed, but I suspect its not just hoaxing for LOLs, but a grey dealer trying to bolster demand - a bit like all the 'hedge the recession, buy Rolex' b5 that is flying around. Anyway, looking forward to the review of a serious watch and interesting to see your Sub on rubber - I'd just been thinking the same, mainly because I find the current Sub pretty uncomfortable. Crafter Blue an option too.
Thanks for another good video, I've been doing the same with my watches by putting leather or rubber straps for the same reason as you. Not sure what all the hype is about Rolex there are other brands out there that are better and more easily attainable, I've lost all interest in Rolex if they don't want my custom others do .
As has been widely discussed Rolex have changed their "interest in purchase" list by limiting each customer to only 3 watch's on the list and a maximum purchase of 3 watch's a year. More recently they have closed the list entirely for their high demand watch's. This is clearly an attempt on their part to get the numbers on the lists down and also give those with little or no previous purchase history an opportunity of possibly getting a watch. So are they trying to cause a deliberate shortage, I doubt it. I recently received a two tone Root beer GMT in 6 months when I was expecting to wait 2 years+. Is this a real or fake letter, who knows, but I have no doubt it will be jumped on by many as another one of those "Rolex Conspiracy Theory's". I viewed Paul's channel for quite a while now and he does get a lot of things right but he also gets a lot of things wrong and to be fair to the guy he does openly point that out. Only time will tell.
This world is worthy of cynicism. Recession and inflation are impacting the world. Rolex is clever, but in this case, I believe this is more strategic and less charitable.
Sounds nonsense to me. Typical Rolex drama thought up by a man in a grey office. Welcome back Andy, my favourite watch nerd :) Bill Gates once said 'Be nice to the nerds in school; they may be your boss one day'.
I think that Paul Thorpe's view is from a UK perspective and mentality, understandably. But put yourself in the mindset of Europe, facing a cold winter and wanting to resist Putin as much as possible - the selfless thing to do is putting capitalism to oneside in aide of fighting a common enemy. Contrast that with the UK's approach "You're rich, just pay more for more energy". Also go redbar!
No, but a crisis in Europe is a lovely cover for their market manipulations. Cynical perhaps, but no more cynical than what Rolex has done and continues to do. I personally will never buy a Rolex; not after their behaviour to manipulate pricing and demand.
A good thing to do for the old mental health, is to remember all the other great watches we can buy that are NOT Rolex
Thé language used in this Rolex letter does not sound like corporate communication and makes me think it is fake …example « cutting production » instead of «substantially reduce », and a few more. Cheers
Agreed 👍🏽
Also the signature in French has spelling errors. Definitely faked by grey dealers
This was called out as 100% fake. Obvious error in the letter was a reference to “mailleures” when it should have been “meilleures”. Rolex would not make such a mistake. Likely the work of a grey dealer trying to get their inventory sold 😂
Rolex are unlikely to confirm or deny, and our experience waiting for product will be unaffected.

Really looking forward to your thoughts on the JLC, been a long time coming for this review.
Thank you for your content.
Hi Andy,
Only recently discovered your channel which is already becoming one of my favourites. Always well presented and interesting to watch. Well done and looking forward to the next.
Thanks for the mention. I'm sure, whichever you go to you'll enjoy Andrew..🍻

Come to Bristol, be good to see you there..
Good to see ya doing good. Energy levels being low sucks but Atleast you’re still kicking. Can’t wait for more content. Great watch channel. P.S. that JLC was a good purchase.

A shortage of parts, how can that be when Rolex make EVERYTHING in house? They haven't been lying have they?
@@garyboyle695 could be a shortage in the certain metals
I chose my New Rolex ⌚️ on the 31st of March, I had it on my wrist on the 1st April, that’s the way to do it. 🙏😎
I have mixed views about the letter, it does sound logical and would make sense, but then some native Swiss French speakers have pointed out spelling mistakes 🤷♂️ Looking forward to the Omega review 🙏

Interesting that it made it’s way onto Watchpro.
hey buddy, are you going to the watch crunch meetup in london? would be cool to meet you.
Not aware of that one. Will take a look thx.
WATCHPRO 12 November ?
Which days do you plan to attend?
Nike, Addidas are facing supply glut, this applies to Rolex AP and pp. be careful of traps. Everybody is worrying
Good to hear from you, Andy. It’s been a while and I was a bit concerned.
Still here Jeff.
Why anybody on youtube would even get close to thinking that a letter of this kind and language would be real is beyond me. Come on…! 😂

My Rolex AD has confirmed that the letter is fake.

Great news
Same dilemma .. Watchpro live or Redbar 🤷🏻
half the production with double the marketing budget
Watchpro all the way 👍🏻
If you are looking for an explorer, remember Addisdive, Pagani Design and others have no such problem and are freely available.
My Addisdive is running at +2sec/day so tell me again why Bolux sory Rolex are worth the money....

Interesting

It was a hoax rolex themselves said it

Redbar for me too
Market manipulation by grey market traders, buyers be careful.
No, but a crisis in Europe is a lovely cover for their market manipulations. Cynical perhaps, but no more cynical than what Rolex has done and continues to do. I personally will never buy a Rolex; not after their behaviour to manipulate pricing and demand.
Fake or real, makes sense to me. Cutting supply is a no brainer…
No one cares about these pretentious stuff anymore
