Hey man I have a serious question I had a sub mucus cleft palate when I was a little kid still have that little dip there I'm getting an expander will this mess up my palate and make that dip/split worse my orthodontics dident really talk about it pls reply soon

I always use the Mathieu pliers to push the wire in place. Never knew I could use a Weingart plier for that! Good to know.👍🏼😊

I'm binge watching all the Ortho videos I can before my working interview and think it would really benefit all the RDA and DA's out there making the switch from General to Ortho. Hi Dr.Greg I am currently in high school but I am extremely interested in becoming an orthodontist based on my long, crazy journey with my teeth being worked on. I stumbled upon your channel and found your videos inspiring and very helpful. As many videos as i’ve seen on becoming an orthodontist yours has definitely been the best. Although i’m in high school I want to begin to plan out how exactly I will achieve my goal and I need advice and have some questions. You may have a video on this (I haven't had a chance to look at all videos). I am getting my braces on in the middle of June. My Ortho is going to set my brackets high on my teeth - I trust his decisions but I'm wondering why some do it high on the teeth vs lower. Thanks for all the great info!

I m not sure which my favorite is, but I know that the distal end cutter always gives me anxiety when it is used.. I know it's safe but for some reason I keep thinking my lip is going to get caught in it or the piece of extra wire is going to fly out! 😅

Hi Dr. Greg, it's not related to this video, but I had a question. I'll be getting my braces off next month and my orthodontist has suggested that I get a frenectomy. If I wear my retainers responsibly, can I put off getting the frenectomy until a later time? Or do I need to get it done immediately after getting my braces off? Thanks!

I have a question for you: I recently got my consultation for braces, and my orthodontist wants to pull my top molars to make more space for the teeth. She thinks that when we pull them, all of my teeth will adjust back into better positioning for braces. What would happen if my teeth didn’t move like they want my teeth to?

GREG I LIKE YOU’RE EYEBROWS AND HOW COME MY ORTHODONTIST USES TWO DIFFERENT TYPES OF BRACKETS ON MY TEETH SHE TOLD ME I COULD ONLY GET COLOR ON MY TOP AND NOT MY BOTTOM SHE ALSO SAID MY BRACKETS ARE TOO SMALL AND THE COLOR WOULD KEEP POPPING OFF IF I GOT COLOR ON THE BOTTOM SO IN CONCLUSION. WHY DO I HAVE TWO DIFFERENT BRACKET SIZES ON MY TEETH ?! ARE MY TEETH REALLY THAT JACKED UP😑

Is it safe to mew if you have a transpalatal arch installed if the arch is on the side that is closer to the front of the mouth? And do you think mewing in general would be detrimental to the jaw?

Hey so I have this question. So um I’ve had my braces for around 4 months and in my last appointment I got a power chain on my top teeth (my teeth are really gapped and keep in mind this was like 3 weeks ago), so I know that braces pain is normal but it’s supposed so go away after a week or so. So when I got my power chain the pain went away after a week but then after 2 weeks some mild pain returned, sometimes it’s just one specific tooth that hurts but most of the time is like the 4 front teeth, I wanted to know if this is normal and if I should tell my orthodontist...
@Peter Yeeter I have the same situation too. My top teeth and my bottom teeth had many gaps, and when my orthodontist put power chains on all my teeth, it started to hurt a lot. My power chains would sometimes hurt here and there, (especially my canine tooth) so I asked her if it was normal to have some specific teeth hurt and if it was normal for it to hurt even after a week or so. She said that it was normal for it to happen, but idk if this answered your question or not. You can ask your orthodontist next appointment and ask if it’s normal for that to happen, assuming you still have them on even though I answered 3 months late 😝. This is off topic, but I love your pfp since it’s Pepe 😋
WAIT DR. GREG MY BRACKETS ARE DIFFERENT THEY HAVE DOORS ON THEM SO I CAN OPEN THEM. LIKE YESTERDAY MY ORTHODONTIST FORGOT TO CLOSE 2 OF THEM SO I HAD TO CLOSE THEM MYSELF. WHY ARE MY BRACKETS DIFFERENT FROM OTHERS? Why is it that others must have color but I don’t it’s optional
Who else thinks the pin cutter looks like a cuticle remover? lol. When I just got my braces I actually ordered a cuticle remover to use for my poking wires, I was never brave enough to put it in my mouth to cut the wires.

Oh man I had an impacted canine before, they had to laser the guns inorder to expose it
Smeggers I have 2, and I’ll probably have to get them exposed.. I’m really nervous about it! I don’t have a high pain tolerance and my orthodontist said it was expensive
@@laylamaui9919 it won't hurt at all. Except for the needle they inject into your gums to numb the pain which is a very weird feeling but nonetheless you shouldn't worry about it.

WAIT DR. GREG I HAVE ONE MORE QUESTION. WHY ARE MY BRACKETS PLACED HIGHER THAN OTHERS PEOPLE ASK ME ALL THE TIME WHY ARE YOUR BRACES SO HIGH UP OR WHY ARE YOUR BRACES CLOSE TO YOUR GUMS? WHEN I FIRST GOT THEM I NOTICED THEY WERE PLACED HIGH AND I WAS EMBARRASSED BECAUSE I THOUGHT MY ORTHODONTIST JACKED ME UP😑
In pretty much all my ortho appts so far, they've cut the excess wire while it's in my mouth. And a fear of mine is swallowing the piece of metal as it flies off but now I know that won't ever happen lol thanks for the peace of mind

@and i oop nope it is not high cuz i would cry to a non bleeding simple cut ....it is just when i first got them 4months ago they kept hurting like hell for 45 days....and then it was my appointement to my ortho and he replaced the elastics with wire ties .....and i'm still with them and since then i don't feel any pain in my teeth...btw a got a larger wire this Time when still sticking with wire ties....i'm kinda anxious 'bout this ......any advice??
