I would like to add that off the wall skin care is very important too! It is imperative to thoroughly wash your hands off with soap and water to get rid of chalk to allow your skin to heal properly. Additionally, a hand lotion like O'Keeffe's working hands can do wonders for re-hydrating your skin to allow for faster repair. Also, for those with wet skin, I highly recommend the Rhino skin products, specifically the dry spray. I have very moist fingers, and after picking up the dry spray I have finally lost the excuse of bad skin lol. And its allowed chalk to last much longer through longer climbs!
I used tog et huge flappers all the time but as my skin adapted I rarely get them now. In terms of skin damage they’re probably the easiest to deal with. Just tape em up with a thicker tape (say 2cm) and you can continue climbing.
@@loiduongjr Thanks. I have about seven years of lifetime climbing experience, but since my return to climbing four years ago at age 37, I've been too heavy to get beyond V3. However, I have recently become strong and light (95 kg/210 lbs) enough to do some campus training on the bigger rungs. That's when the flappers started. As you suggest, all I need to do is hang in there until my skin adapts, which sounds good to me.😀 And, in the meantime, I'll just make sure to keep my roll of tape handy!😅
Glad you’re coming back and that I could give you some inspiration! Their are a couple good examples of absolute crushers who are in their 30s and 40s!

Amen! This is especially true if you climb a lot on fibreglass or comp stuff in general. Those holds absolutely eat your skin.
Thanks! My question is: Do you have any suggestions on dealing with flappers, based on personal experience or otherwise?

What products do you use to harden up your skin. I have really sweaty skin and don’t know what to start using
I have had good success with multiple consecutive days of rhino tip juice. Antihydral would be probably a better product for me.
You may need to light up a joint hahah
We all thought the same when we saw the lighter
Aha I’ve given up any type of smoking but yes it would be useful for that 😂
i dont believe in skin!!!
Skin it the biggest difference maker in climbing I think. True genetic diff.
@@loiduongjr yeah no definitely i was just kidding :D it can for sure be a game changer to figure out how to treat it well!
