I've got a dilemma where I've done grassroots coaching for 2 years now...but the club I work with have almost 0 connection to higher level clubs. Not to mention but coaching in Australia is definitely hard to make it pro due to its popularity down here. We don't have FA or L1/L2 courses here. And the certificates that you do acquire just aren't good enough to land interviews. Sucks to be honest but might have to try another country.
Great vid and some good pointers. Same pathway and qualifications as me but ive been coaching for 27yrs both in the UK and USA. Im about to head out soon to set an academy out in Japan. All the best brother keep bringing the joy of our love for the game :D

Hey i may even swing by next time im in Dubai and watch a session or two.
I have wanted to do my badges for around 6 years now, but have always had other commitments in the way. Hi Neil, thanks for taking the time to make this video and share your wealth of experience. I am a 17 year old sixth form student who has been coaching for just over 4 years now. I start my FA level 2 badge in about a months time, and I am currently debating which career path I want to go down. I am the coach of my own football team at a charter standard club, and also assist with running two teams at my school. On top of that I run a foundation phase session every week with a company that aims to run community schemes. If I was to pursue a career in football, what advice do you have for making contacts? I have reached out to people I know that have contacts in local “big” clubs and football league team etc, and would like to get some experience within an academy system with the aim to joining on and then later getting my uefa and youth badges too. What would you say is the best method to get involved with these clubs and gain higher level experience? What is the best pathway into higher levels of coaching ? Thanks again for sharing this, it was incredibly informative and useful. I look forward to your reply. Thanks.
Mustff I stumbled into it at 12 when my younger brothers team needed someone to assist on their football tour. They then needed an assistant all season and that’s where I started. Since then I’ve had my own team and have progressed since then. I have just started my FA level 2 so hope that will help me get to where I want to be.
James Tolley ye I’m debating doing a football coaching and talent development degree at the eithiad stadium, apparently can me into a job at coaching at academy level, cause I want to be an fm, manager u think it’s a good way to go? Cause I’m also debating doing a physical geography degree as it might be better for job prospects?
Mustff I have thought the same for the UCFB course. For me it’s depending on what qualification you currently hold. If you have your level one or two, I would try to progress up the badges and take whichever degree is your passion, but if you aren’t already, and football is what you really want to do, go to uni for it. I assume you’re in year 13 now?
James Tolley ye I was think of doing both badges by next September (when uni starts) so I would be eligible, but do u think I would have enough time do them by then, while doing A-Levels?

I have managed a local youth side for many years and I'm looking to now take my Level 1 and 2 badges, however I actually left school at 15 years old so I'm not sure if its going to be worth my time?

Can I ask how old you were when you started your journey and how old you are now also is it possible to become a coach if you are a terrible player any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks
I really want to pursue becoming a football coach but i was wondering what the pay was like. Obviously the further you progress the more you will be paid, but i was wondering is a job like this a risk to take and financially stable in the beginning as you learn and take the courses to complete your badges. I want to go into coaching because i love football and love to dissect the game, however i feel it's a risk as i could be in another job with more money. Anyway, i would love it if someone could educate me on wage for this profession at all aspects of the game in a little more detail. Thank you
Oh 😥. firstly. I hope you well. and if want to be football coach. i think you can be. even me i would like to be football coach in my future. but i will try to do more courses and to get experiences about coaching.

Hi Neil just a question how much does it cost to get in to coaching. Like for the level 1 and 2, UEFA B, and UEFA A?
Do you need to go to college to get a bachelor's degree in sports or anything?
This depends on what route you want to go down. Performance analysis and such will need a degree to gain any decent role.
Can I ask how old you were when you started your journey and how old you are now also is it possible to become a coach if you are a terrible player any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks
I asked that question and he said u have to be good at football, but I know other caches have said u don't have to be
some off the best coaches in the world were very average players so if you love football go for it
I really want to pursue becoming a football coach but i was wondering what the pay was like.
Thank you
In same situation but wage isn’t great at low level
