Shreddinger.
Schrödding?
lol!
👏👏👏
shreddinger's hellcat
😂
As a graduate of the UoN Physics 2013 BSc cohort, I knew there was a reason Prof. Moriarty was everyone's favourite. Top draw, prof!
The superposition of this song cannot be measured.
So happy to have mixed and been part of this…. And respect to Phil for playing almost everything. For a physics professor he can pass for a musician better than I can pass myself off as a physics professor 😂
Thank you, this was awesome!
I still can't quite believe that you mixed this with a broken arm, Dave. Not in this universe, or any other, did I think that was possible!
*Thank you*.
@@thequantumworld6960 it was more tweaking than anything else with the broken arm. The first day was the most intense. It was one of the most fun days I've had. I've been watching this channel for years and it was like having a live Sixty Symbols video in my front room!
As a scientist he cant even pass on pretending to be a scientist.
The fact that "brink of collapse" fits perfectly into a million metal songs but means something fundamentally different here is gold.
Well if my IQ was somewhere around 60ish i could maybe agree with you.
„We will annihilate“ even more so haha 🤘🏼
@@daniellassander Just keep practising, you'll get up there
This really came out of nowhere lol... That said I think it was bound to happen eventually 🤣
if you like fascist!
@@Glaaki13 i do thx
@@Glaaki13 wtf?
In a universe with a finite number of quantum states everything will eventually happen and continue to happen for every Poincaré recurrence...
@@atrumluminarium sadly your friend love fascism
I thought a quantum metal would conduct, but apparently it plays too
Probably some harmonic frequency in there too
😂
A super conductor!
I am now quantumly entangled with this channel 😮
Just by the fact that you’re observing, changes what you’re observing. I was all set to blow this off this is one of the greatest things I’ve seen in a long time.
That's not a quantum phenomenon, though. It's basically Newton's third. To measure something, that something needs to effect some kind of change in whatever instrument you're using. In return, the instrument will effect a corresponding change in whatever it is you're measuring. For instance, a speedometer in a car drags the car and slows it down.
Well this is the most metal thing I've seen today. 🤘
Fantastic Professor Moriarty
This should be a big hit at the next faculty get together.

Music is a science that would have one laugh and sing and dance.
- Guillaume de Machaut (1300-77)
Saw them making this in the lecture hall.
Much appreciated by this old lab manager/bassist! 😀🤘👍😎
Sweet!
+1 up spin.
People confuse philosophy and science 👉shut up and calculate.
Loved the song and it's message 💬
Person in the next office, banging on the wall, yelling Shut up! I'm trying to calculate 😂
This came at the perfect time. I had been struggling with one derivation for the last three day. “Shut up and calculate” seems to have done the trick. My bachelor project is saved.
Damn, 80s are back, whoever mixed and recorded this, I wonder, was the intention to aim for the sound of Cacophony? Because you came remarkably close to the sound of their album Go Off :D, mostly due to the vocals singing method, the layering and then the fx on the vocal
Ohhh, I'm delighted that you mentioned Cacophony. I bought the preceding album, Speed Metal Symphony, shortly after it came out and couldn't quite believe my ears -- Friedman and Becker were just on another planet. Becker is inspiring for reasons beyond his incredible guitar playing, of course.
I didn't mix the track (although there are some sample reference mixes that I did available in the blog post linked in the video information) -- and I'm fairly confident that Dave Fowler (see blog post), who did mix it, isn't a massive Cacophony fan! -- but there's definitely a strong 80s influence on the music. Sabbath's "Mob Rules", for one, was an inspiration for a couple of reasons.
There are quite a few links to quantum physics concepts, equations, and constants hidden in the riffs, rhythms, and sounds...
Thanks for such a perceptive comment -- really appreciate it,
Philip
If Tenacious D knew math!
… that’s a magic number…
That airdrum is sick
I saw these guys open for Pitchshifter back in 99. Killer show!
Reminds me of the album "Theory of Everything" by Ayreon
Ohhh, that's a huge compliment. I love that album. Thank you!
Philip
Nice allusion to Rush's "Vital Signs"!
Delighted you spotted this -- see the blog post linked in the video information.
Thanks so much,
Philip
I have a QFT exam in particle physics tomorrow. I'll take your advice.
If you play it backwards you'll hear Satan reciting Pi.
The true Professor of Rock!
Man that Cat can SHREDDINGER better than Schroddinger!
He's like OZZY man, dias buenos!
Looks like Phil worked really hard on this! Congrats!!!!!! I really enjoyed the song!
Absolutely 10/10! Superb cheers 😀
for fascist
Calculate the Machine 😎
You can catch these guys every week at the H bar.
Great, so today Dirk of Veristablium became Three Blue One Brown, and Sixty Symbols became METAL MONKS.
You know, there's a whole theory behind music.
Love this. So much.
This was Damnn good!
What's a chord but a superposition of notes?
Wow! Just wow! This is so frickin' amazing! Gotta love the little Rush shout out, 'deviate from the norm'.
So happy you spotted the Rush shout-out -- thank you! The norm has a very specific meaning in quantum mechanics so I really couldn't resist...
Philip
Are you SURE its his shout out to RUSH?
Maybe RUSH has been shouting out to HIM!
Because this hep cat makes Schroddinger look like Mandingo and its Mandingo because this Man dont Dingo...
He may OINGO and even BOINGO but this Man will NEVER Dingo!
It's rumoured that some of the delay effects were created following digital synth waves at the speed of light.
Now I understand quantum mechanics!!
Amazing
I REALLY appreciate this!
More music with Metal Prof! Golden ratio is still on my playlist
this is so up my alley
No , I will keep thinking.
DAAAAMN, this is BRUTALY brilliant! 🤘
Wot????? No effing way.....this is way too awesome!!!!
rad as HELL
wow amazing
Are you sure this wasn't a collaboration with Rob Scallon?
This has so much Tool vibes I find it hard to believe it wasn't an influence
Tool was definitely an influence for the golden ratio song we did years back -- see the blog post linked in the video information. I'm a massive Tool fan -- at least up to 10,000 Days --- but definitely not deliberately going for their style with this. (More 80s metal influences than anything...) It's interesting that you get a Tool vibe from it - their influence is pervasive, I guess.
Thanks for the comment,
Philip
That's a nice touch.
🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼 I freaking love it! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Amazing!
Lovely
Yooo am i in the right channel 😂💥
Amazing.
I'm pretty sure quantum mechanics is involved in writing djent.
As Deftones' Stephen Carpenter said about Meshuggah: "you guys are the quantum physics of music as far as I'm concerned"
Guts entering the Solvay conference:
Incredible :0
I was half expecting an appearance by Leo Moracchioli.
I'm glad I wasn't alone in that. 😂
20 seconds in and so hyped
Please do a duet with Sabine Hossenfelder. The internet need it.
medal for awesomeness
That's so feyn, man!
😆
Was singing along by the second chorus 😄 shut up and calculate 😅 this is right up my street
Brother, that's better than some Math TOOLs. We need more of that. p.s. also great channel & vids
What an awesome and well done song, gonna have to find a way to slip this in at work!
THIS IS SOOO SICK :0
🤘
That was awesome!
Moriarty is my favorite, ever since I saw him with with Rush shirts and talking about guitars I knew he was the real one
LOL, amazing. Love Moriarty.
Waaaaaa! Fantastic!
This was absolutely inspiring! Fantastic job!
Why are you still signing? Shut up and calculate! 😂
This song rocks! Is there gonna be a video about all the calculations amd the math references that went into it?
Excellent stuff! Let’s have more.
yay moriarty!🤘🖤🖤🖤
F°°°k yeah! Prog death with math lyrics!
This is soooo sick!
This is the sound a tree makes when it falls in the forest and nobody's around
Just a fundamental question.... Why does a guitar string vibrate when under tension, versus when not under tension? What is happening between the atoms of the string to allow it to vibrate? Same as a string line telephone?
If anyone is looking for more quantum metal, I highly recommend Ayreon's album The Theory of Everything!
Will this be on the exam?
I wish I could give this wonderful comment about 10^23 likes!!
Thanks,
Philip
@@thequantumworld6960 Thank you too :)
The Slayer determinant for Lithium will be on exam
The drums timing is quantum a lil bit.
Sick! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

You can shred!
I'm guessing this is what happens when the wife's away for the weekend...
The real Math Rock.
Prof Phil has groupies? Again? Smash ! ! !
The follow up to the Cernettes we need
This is what my mum would call lovelly :D

That was unexpected :)
I want to buy this album. Please make an album
