Though my friend has a great story about a church pal whose son was a ‘wine connoisseur’ at a major restaurant and had brought ‘one of his finest picks’ to his mom’s party. My pal took one sip and managed to get to the kitchen before spitting it out. She got caught by her church pal who actually asked her to leave the party for ‘having so little taste!’ You know what you like, THAT makes us all ‘connoisseurs’😆 My favorite is Ste Chateau Michelle, all of the Columbia Valley wines are wonderful.

I absolutely LOVE this man. He needs his own show. Him traveling, him visiting different vineyards, wine shops, bringing his wine knowledge to Mom and Pop restaurants. I want everything for him. Great job, BA!
Yes! I feel like a cheap white wine has to be truly awful to be undrinkable. Cheap white is usually too sweet or one dimensional, which I don't mind as much. But cheap reds taste like turpentine or rat poison!! LOL
More Andre Mac please. He’s knowledgeable without being pretentious. He’s got personality but not enough to be annoying. Love his humor. Concept for the show is great too.
Aussie here. The Yellowtail shown in the vid is the wine for people who don't like wine. Super sweet, almost sickeningly sweet, is popular because of the picture on the label more than the wine itself. I know, it sounds snooty to badmouth it, but Australia has much better white wines at that price point like Annie's Lane Chardonnay, Red Knot Chardonnay, Lindeman's Bin 95 Sauvignon Blanc, Wolf Blass Eaglehawk Sauvignon Blanc, Jacob's Creek Cool Harvest Sauvignon Blanc. I'm a fan of the Wolf Blass Eaglehawk, personally.
Honestly, it's something I can only imagine to be delicious. Not gonna buy Riesling, because I don't particularly like Riesling, but I can imagine it harmonizing quite well. Riesling is quite acidic, which goes well with the umami flavor and violent saltiness of Mcdonald's fries. Fries need something with a punch I'd say.
Brilliant - Love his knowledge & willingness to explain these things in a clear way. These two segments (the reds under $15 and whites under $15) have been awesome. I hope they’re working on a Rosé one, too!
Stopped watching BA last year. Didn't realize this was BA when I clicked. This is a great segment. I hope they don't go back to their old ways and waste talent and we never see him again
Could you do “uncommon food and wine pairings” hopefully with a cohost? Like “stump the sommelier”! Pair a red wine with this fish or pair a wine with these popular chips etc. love Andre!
I love wine pairing unusual foods or junk foods. Try an expensive high quality chardonnay with Kraft Dinner for example, or a semi dry Riesling with spicy ish potato chips such as doritos or BBQ chips. Speaking of ...Champagne with a plain salty ripple !
Man there are so many dope wines here in South Australia. I’d listen to this guy on a weekly vid going through different regions and price points. What a guy.
Same with cannabis... all the “this smells like grape and crumbled cookies” is code for “please agree with me on something” in reality it just smells like weed
Smell is linked to memory in the brain, while the other senses are linked to reasoning areas of the brain. Tasting notes are just saying what the wine (or whatever alse you can give tasting notes for) brings out of your memory. If your house smells always like cinnamon, and the smell reminds you of your house, you may be getting cinnamon notes. Another way to look at it is bacon isnt smoke, but bacon has a very smokey flavor. Or peppers are earthy. Works the same way.
I’ve watched ALL his BA episodes now… André Mack seriously rocks. His shows alone convinced me to re-subscribe to this channel. Much more of him please!!!
Years ago I really liked those Playboy videos with Patrick tasting wine like this and really kick started my relationship with this kind of format. Keep ‘em coming.
I’m not even a huge fan of wine, it’s just fascinating to listen to a man so obviously passionate and knowledgable about his craft. His enthusiasm is so contagious, it’s wonderful to listen to.
Would really love to see him do a few different tastings... comparison of Washington wines vs. California wines, Domestic wine varietal comparison, comparison of wine varietals existing on similar latitudes.
Should look at the tasting notes of islay scotch. Some of my favorites are bandaids, burning ocean trash and 'like making love to a cigar smoking walrus'
What I really like about him is that he explains things really well for all of us non-wine people and hes pretty polite and nice, never slams the wines
This is my new favorite person on UA-cam. Love to see him explore more types, sweet wines, champagnes/bruts and basically anything else. Love his explanations
Had no idea twist off’s we’re more expensive to make than corks, they tend to be on worse bottles so I always assumed it was a way for wineries to cut a corner.
In the European market, it seems like probably like 90% of wine of every quality is twist off, and there is no stigma attached to it. I think the importers often ask them to use cork when it gets shipped overseas because of the negative association you described.
I think it very much depends where in the world you are. Here in Japan, Yellowtail is everywhere, but there is better, and higher priced, stuff available.
May I just ask why the camera couldn't be in a tripod? It's nauseating to move the whole time. This guy is brilliant and he needs the respect of a steady camera, despite the stupid moving camera trend.
I’ve just discovered this guy yesterday and I can’t stop binging all of these videos. I love him and I’m learning so much about wine! Some wine experts are hard to follow or understand, but not Andre. He’s cool.
This guy is awesome. They should make this a series. Videos: Best wines to choose for weddings or special events Best wines for gifts Best $15-30, $30-45, etc. Bar wine staples Best Costco case wines
A video on box wines, just reislings, just chardonnay, just reach sub category would be great. A video for each bottle or box under $20 that exists would be great
Absolutely love this sommelier. Sometimes "wine people" are such snobs about wine and overcomplicate the subject. Sometimes you need a glass of cold white wine to go with you french fries. Plus the raspy tone of his voice is really pleasing to the ear.
Love these Sommelier videos! I want to see him go to vineyards and cool places for wine tasting and lessons we can learn more of his craft! Please! And Thank You! 🙏
LOVE Andre's take on explaining wines. He is so down to earth and relatable. I learned so much! I was recently given 2 bottles of Sancerre wines. I had never heard of them before. This guy is great! He teaches w/o looking down on you. Makes me want to go out and buy wine whenever I watch him. Definitely taking him to the store w/me next time I buy wine... tomorrow!
This was a really good video, well done, thank you. I'm glad you included Gruner in your list. I discovered it about 2 years ago on an airplane and have been hooked ever since. That and chenin blanc are my two go-to's at this point. Good stuff.
This dude is awesome, seen a few of his vids on UA-cam!! incredibly knowledgeable about wine, I can watch his videos all day. I hope he does a Rose 15 Dollar wines and other High end stuff too.
I love watching this guy and he had a previous vlog and I had taken his advice. It a hit! Save my a** a couple times when I had to bring wine to a dinner party. I still have friends thx dude.
Andre is so cool and down-to-earth. 😍 He is very knowledgeable...wanting to teach us...but not snobby or annoying in any way. I think anyone wud love him to show up at their party. 🥳 Lol...
I love these wine videos with André Hueston Mack! One small quibble with this one, though--I think he missed a line on the back of the bottle when tasting the Hermann J. Wiemer Field, because he mentions it being a blend of Riesling and Chardonnay, but that wine is mostly Grüner Veltliner, with a little Riesling and Chardonnay blended in to round it out. It definitely is a knockout bottle for the price, though.
Wonderful video! Try some of the Michigan wines - I'd be interested in his take on them. I feel like we've got some really solid, pleasing wines coming out of the Mitten!
Yay! South Africa ... I was holding my breath wondering if you would pour a South African Brand. Make you way here! It would be winemazing to taste with you across the globe
This man is an absolute treasure 🥰🥰 but also shout out to the editors for adding the wine words and tasting notes. makes this a super accessible and fun video to watch ❤️
Great video. Features some of my favourite whites like Picpoul de Pinet (name means lip stinger), Gruener Veltliner and Gavi. One correction though, screw caps are much less expensive than cork, including composite cork. Other advantages of screw caps are that much less sulfur dioxide is needed in the wine. the aromas of adhesive found in some composite cork and there is no problem with cork failure.
a smart knowledgable dude who isn't snobby about his wine. always got something positive to say. love this guy
If you can get your hands in his wine, do it! I'm obsessed with the Love Drunk Rosé. It's $20 at my local bottle shop!
Well said.

“nothing in wine when we talk about in descriptions are literal”
...it all makes sense now
Same with cannabis... all the “this smells like grape and crumbled cookies” is code for “please agree with me on something” in reality it just smells like weed
Helps pair it.
A red wine that is “fruity” (not literally) might go better with something spicy.
@@Treesandhustle your looking for secondary and tertiary layers of the aromas. What else other than weed are you smelling.
Its more like a feeling or the sensation of the said description. For example, licking rocks, flower pedals, or the texture of chewing fruit peels.
