Hua Chenyu composed this song. It was the theme for one of the Monkey King movies. HuaHua spent 2 or 3 months in Los Angeles studying American rap. He said in an interview that alot of the principal theories used in American rap don't work for the Chinese language. It is very different from English. I highly recommend that you check out "I Don't Care" from Singer. It is also his original composition and is in the rock genre that you love so much. Make sure you get English subtitles.... the lyrics are cool as hell.

Hua Chenyu is an unique musical performer and arranger/writer. On top of that his voice in the upper range/falsetto is angelic. He is very well known in China, and he sold out the Olympic stadium in Beijing 2 nights in a row (180,000 tickets) in mere minutes His performances in The Singer 2018 are really good. Hi Chris, Thanks for the Hua Chenyu reaction! You really need to watch some of his live shows or really just anything you can find on him because he is an absolute brilliant musician & performer! He’s constantly rewriting and rearranging his own songs, he’s considered a child prodigy! He’s in his early twenties now and is a huge artist in China and other countries as well but when his concerts are announced in China he sells out stadiums in record breaking times! His live shows are AMAZING! He leans more towards the rock genre but he’s also someone that’s hard to put a label on except that he is very creative, unique and exceptionally talented! This is late, he is singing in Mandarin and he is a Performance Artist. He does many styles in one song. There is a FB page called Hua English Subs...they have many of his songs subtitled as the words are not like English when translated, they have very deep philosophical meaning. In Nunchucks he sings like a female in Chinese Opera but controls the audience and it is quite intense, He won a singing competition in 2013 won Super Boy. He looked different and young. He has a classical music background in vocals and instruments, he uses his voice like an instrument. His Rap is not like the Rap here and if someone knew Chinese really well they might be able to Rap as fast. From 2013 to 2019 his voice has improved greatly, it did in 2017. He does his yearly Mars Concerts since 2014 either 2 or 3. There is a stadium in China called the Birds nest which holds 90,000 people. He did 2 and he talks to the fans(Martians-again there are subtitled videos on YT English Subs) He was told he was from Mars because he did songs without lyrics, he has lyricists write lyrics to his songs and he conveys the meaning. He will be 30 on 2/7/20 and you should try to watch some of his older concerts and songs to appreciate how he sounds now. He writes many songs and rearranges many that he sings. When you see him do Nunchucks, I Don’t Care, Aliens, he rocks and he has some beautiful songs like Child, King & Beggar, Giant Deer, she this past year he wrote 5 new songs and tackled the subject of Depression. (You cannot be depressed in China) He is an old soul and a sensitive person, he was raised by Nannies when very young and did not have the care he needed. To fully understand this song, you need to read the Chinese Classic Novel "Journey to the West" (西遊記). It is a novel written by Wu Cheng'en (吳承恩) in the 16th century during the Ming Dynasty. The novel is an account of the pilgrimage of the Tang Dynasty Buddhist monk called Xuanzang (玄奘). He travelled to the west (Central Asia and India) to obtain the Buddhist sacred texts (sutras). During his journey, the monk Xuanzang (玄奘) was escorted by three protectors who helped him as atonement for their own sins. The three protectors are Sun Wukong (孫悟空. The Monkey King. This is the mythical monkey figure this song is all about), Zhu Ba Jie (豬八戒. This is the mythical pig figure), and Sha Wujing (沙悟淨 or 沙僧. He was originally a general in heaven). In addition to the three protectors, Xuanzang (玄奘) was given a white steed to ride on (The White Dragon Horse, also known as Bai Long Ma 白龍馬). This song, Qi Tian (齊天), is a soulful cry of Sun Wukong (孫悟空, the Monkey King) for freedom and the atonement of his sins. Until his sins are completely forgiven and his freedom granted, he cannot escape the palm of the Buddha, which to him, is bigger than heaven and earth. The Golden Fillet around his head, which he cannot remove, is the magic headband designed to reign in his unruly, rebellious nature. Whenever he gets out of line, Xuanzang (玄奘) can make the headband constrict and cause Sun Wukong (孫悟空) tremendous pain. This is how Xuanzang (玄奘) keeps Sun Wukong (孫悟空) in line and under control. The rap parts of the song perfectly depict the chaos and violence during all the battles that he fought to protect Xuanzang (玄奘) from harm. I hope this little explanation helps you all understand the background and gain a better appreciation for the song, which is phenomenal. On a side note, the name of the song, Qi Tian (齊天), is rather oddly translated to "Equal to Heaven". Qi Tian (齊天) is normally used in Chinese culture as a form of blessing or to describe the wealth of a person. For example, you would say that a person is so rich that his wealth reaches up to the heaven, or that somebody's ambition is so high that it reaches up to the heaven, or that a mountain is so high that it reaches up to the heaven. The idea is to convey grandeur, something so majestic that it rises up so high that it touches heaven.
In addition to the comments below, I would recommend you watch the videos of Hua with subtitles. His lyrics, be they of his own compositions or covers (when he is competing in singing competitions) tend to be very deep (Child, Ordinary Path, Fake Monk, Dad I'm home mentioned previously) should be watched with subtitles (especially Dad I'm home) ).

Bonne prononciation du nom. Hua Chenyu ou Hua Hua est un chanteur/compositeur de 30 ans phénoménal. On dit qu'il vient de Mars, ses compositions étant assez "étranges", son imagination débordante reflétant son enfance dorée mais désespérément seul (enfant unique de parents divorcés riches et bossant tout le temps). Un talent fou à bien des niveaux ! Multi-instrumentaliste, Un spécialiste des arrangements, ayant plusieurs fois, dans le cadre d'une émission, du reprendre des chansons qui n'étaient pas "à la page" et d'en avoir fait des tubes alors qu'il n'avait que 24h pour les réarranger ! Quant à sa voix, j'ai l'impression qu'elle se bonifie très rapidement. Cette impression également qu'il se sert de sa voix comme d'un instrument.
Je trouve, bizarrement, qu'il y a beaucoup de similitudes avec Dimash tout en étant à l'opposé ! (si proche/si loin)

Thank you for reacting to Hua! He has much more talents than what he shows in "Qi Tian". Hua Chenyu is a singer/composer. This song is a movie theme song he composed. He is very versatile and always perform a different style on the SINGER 2018's stage. He rearranges/rewrites every song for this competition (because singers are limited to sing 2 their own songs, the rest must be covers).

This is late, he is singing in Mandarin and he is a Performance Artist. He does many styles in one song.
There is a FB page called Hua English Subs...they have many of his songs subtitled as the words are not like English when translated, they have very deep philosophical meaning.
In Nunchucks he sings like a female in Chinese Opera but controls the audience and it is quite intense,
He won a singing competition in 2013 won Super Boy. He looked different and young. He has a classical music background in vocals and instruments, he uses his voice like an instrument.
His Rap is not like the Rap here and if someone knew Chinese really well they might be able to Rap as fast.
From 2013 to 2019 his voice has improved greatly, it did in 2017. He does his yearly Mars Concerts since 2014 either 2 or 3. There is a stadium in China called the Birds nest which holds 90,000 people. He did 2 and he talks to the fans(Martians-again there are subtitled videos on YT English Subs) He was told he was from Mars because he did songs without lyrics, he has lyricists write lyrics to his songs and he conveys the meaning.
He will be 30 on 2/7/20 and you should try to watch some of his older concerts and songs to appreciate how he sounds now.
He writes many songs and rearranges many that he sings.
When you see him do Nunchucks, I Don’t Care, Aliens, he rocks and he has some beautiful songs like Child, King & Beggar, Giant Deer, she this past year he wrote 5 new songs and tackled the subject of Depression. (You cannot be depressed in China)
He is an old soul and a sensitive person, he was raised by Nannies when very young and did not have the care he needed. He reveals many personal feelings in his songs.

Hua Chenyu from China or Hua Hua (in Mandarin means little flower) this guy can do it all he has a range that I dare say is at least 4 octaves maybe even 5 and when he lets lose he takes you to Mars that why his fans are called Martians .. he is so popular and prolific that last year in September he did a concert in a 95000 seat coliseum and it was sold out in minutes .. he then did another concert the next day and it toi was sold out in minutes .. so thats 190,000 people in less that like 15 minutes total .. if yoiu want a wide range of style and musical genius just hitch your wagon to his star and ride it till the wheels fall off you weont regret it ... he has two websites of fans that do English subtitles for his songs 1 is Baby Bamboo .com and HuaChenyu English Subtitles website that do a really good job of translating the complex language of Mandarin .. anyways enjoy

Hua Chenyu is the King of different. 90 percent what he does is original, composed and written by Hua. Dad I'm Home is an excellent example. This is a song written by someone else but done in Hua's special way. The first one I saw was Nunchucks and is my favorite. I like him second to Dimash..

To fully understand this song, you need to read the Chinese Classic Novel "Journey to the West" (西遊記). It is a novel written by Wu Cheng'en (吳承恩) in the 16th century during the Ming Dynasty. The novel is an account of the pilgrimage of the Tang Dynasty Buddhist monk called Xuanzang (玄奘). He travelled to the west (Central Asia and India) to obtain the Buddhist sacred texts (sutras).
During his journey, the monk Xuanzang (玄奘) was escorted by three protectors who helped him as atonement for their own sins. The three protectors are Sun Wukong (孫悟空. The Monkey King. This is the mythical monkey figure this song is all about), Zhu Ba Jie (豬八戒. This is the mythical pig figure), and Sha Wujing (沙悟淨 or 沙僧. He was originally a general in heaven). In addition to the three protectors, Xuanzang (玄奘) was given a white steed to ride on (The White Dragon Horse, also known as Bai Long Ma 白龍馬).
This song, Qi Tian (齊天), is a soulful cry of Sun Wukong (孫悟空, the Monkey King) for freedom and the atonement of his sins. Until his sins are completely forgiven and his freedom granted, he cannot escape the palm of the Buddha, which to him, is bigger than heaven and earth. The Golden Fillet around his head, which he cannot remove, is the magic headband designed to reign in his unruly, rebellious nature. Whenever he gets out of line, Xuanzang (玄奘) can make the headband constrict and cause Sun Wukong (孫悟空) tremendous pain. This is how Xuanzang (玄奘) keeps Sun Wukong (孫悟空) in line and under control. The rap parts of the song perfectly depict the chaos and violence during all the battles that he fought to protect Xuanzang (玄奘) from harm.
I hope this little explanation helps you all understand the background and gain a better appreciation for the song, which is phenomenal.
On a side note, the name of the song, Qi Tian (齊天), is rather oddly translated to "Equal to Heaven". Qi Tian (齊天) is normally used in Chinese culture as a form of blessing or to describe the wealth of a person. For example, you would say that a person is so rich that his wealth reaches up to the heaven, or that somebody's ambition is so high that it reaches up to the heaven, or that a mountain is so high that it reaches up to the heaven. The idea is to convey grandeur, something so majestic that it rises up so high that it touches heaven.
In addition to the comments below, I would recommend you watch the videos of Hua with subtitles. His lyrics, be they of his own compositions or covers (when he is competing in singing competitions) tend to be very deep (Child, Ordinary Path, Fake Monk, Dad I'm home mentioned previously) should be watched with subtitles (especially Dad I'm home) ).
