Don't worry about the high gloss. Drive through some muddy lanes and big puddles and it'll get weathered in no time. Done it on two landies now

I have used Tractol primer (undercoat) to paint my Alvis Station Waggon. What you found was quite normal. I have found it impossible to get a smooth finish under any conditions. You also need a proper brush!
Brush on 4 coats on consecutive days to build up a good surface and flat back with 180 grit wet and dry to a smooth finish.

My bumper bolts were an absolute nightmare. s/s bolts work hardened and were overlong to start with. Took a day to get he stuck pair out.

I'm painting a mini with a brush at the moment and in this cooler weather I am experiencing exactly the same thing. Undercoat is like painting with glue. Takes me 1h to rub down a door minimum to get anywhere near smooth for topcoat. I'm trying to figure a way around it.

That’s turning out great. Colour is all in the eye of the beholder really but I think the paint you mixed yourself looks lovely in my opinion. Subscribing to see more. Cheers for sharing

Thanks Tony. I do like the colour - job has been sidelined a little by other jobs and the current situation. Once things get back to normal, we'll bring you more videos. Stay tuned!

Yes, a couple of people have noted that. Not sure how I feel about that...

The correct shade for a series 3 was called light green. No idea what pastel green was off. That tailgate looks like factory light green to me. Personally would have gone for the original blue. I know how hard it can be to get the right shade...good luck.

onetonlandrover It was Pastel Green in the U.K. I believe Light Green May have been for the US? Same paint anyway!

@@guillaumepacteau8476 You are right they seem to be the same colour but the factory never called it pastel green. Brochures, build books and build tickets call it light green. I've seen the build books at Gaydon, and I have the build ticket for my series 3 which says light green. Pastel green seems to be an aftermarket nickname.

@@guillaumepacteau8476 I think it's up there with "safari doors/safari roofs" etc, terms the factory never used but they have become common parlance among enthusiasts.

Hello. Thanks for watching. The project is still coming along but has been taking a little longer than planned thanks to other things getting in the way - like work (we also edit Mini Magazine now) and car projects associated with that. We had just been filming some new material when the current nastiness started, and thanks to the lockdown, we've been unable to get into the lockup for weeks.
As soon as we're able, we'll finish off the next instalment and get it online!
      All the best
