We are out here at the range testing the four examples of M855 and SS109 loading we have managed to scrounge up. The results are interesting but not surprising.
i have been reloading my own m855 rounds for about a year now. i buy the 62 grain ss109 projectiles in bulk. i buy pulled more than new. i run them threw my wet tumbler with stainless steel pins to clean them up. then sort through them to find any bad or bent projectiles. i use 25gr of h335 with lakecity brass cci 41 primers and i get 3/8ths inch spread @100 yards. i am shooting them out of a 18inch 223 wylde barrel 1/8 twist.
You are doing incredible work! You should definitely have a larger fan base than what you currently do. I can't help but think you live out here in Ash Fork, AZ, by the way.
I always figured the Pmc might have more consistency in the loadings even though it didn’t necessarily seem that way from your other test video. Although lake city had that one round loaded poorly in your test, with a lot of offset wobble on the nose. (May explain some of the accuracy issues of the lake city) still there’s no explanation as to why the Pmc seems to group the best..
'Ol Einstein here just bought 840 rounds of IMI M855 on a whim cuz it was on sale for cheap. Never shot any M855 before. Now I'm thinking I wish I would have researched it more since learning the accuracy usually sucks. Anything less than MOA is going to disappoint. I have an 18" Odin Works DMR barrel with a 1:8 twist. Maybe it won't be as bad as I'm thinking.
Should do fine. It's marginal in a 1/9 twist rate. My 24' 1/8 does alright but I have yet to find a M855 that shoots well. The best I've tested so far is the Geco (Swiss made) 55gr. Shoots under 1 MOA all day long.
When I use Sierra bullets at this range (100 meters) they all go through the same hole. Military ammunition usually sucks for accuracy. The one exception I have found is the Swiss Geco 55gr load. 1/2" groups all day long.
Great test results. Appreciate the time & demonstration.

Do you weight sort them?
yes i do. i do that for all my bulk bullets. even the higher end bullets

Feels nostalgic to be watching an Ammosmith upload.
We are getting back into the swing of things
Great testing
Great evaluation and group size comparison. Good info man!
Thanks!!! I hope we did a detailed enough evaluation inside and out.
Is it just me or does the Winchester 62 grain always seem to get about 3in at 100 yards?

Thanks for getting out the camera again!!!
You're welcome...and it has been too long. I plan on doing a lot more videos.
How much you wanna bet this guy drove home with the bolt still locked back.
So is ss109 supposed to be a lil more accurate than m855 bcuz it doesent have the penetrator in the tio?
The SS109nhas a penetrator but it seems some manufacturers have better QC than others.
To much velocity is not good, the round won't have good pentration, cause it will fragment early or yaw to early
The minute you shoot past a 100 yards it will slow down probably 100 -200 fps
I think I would be pleased to get groups like that with a strong crosswind.

I was getting 2,850fps from pmc xtac m855 from a 16" barrell and 2,950fps from xm855 LC out of the same 16" barrell.
Interesting what a difference in barrel length can have isn't it?
You ever gonna do podcasts again? I used to drive truck and learned a lot during my hours on the road
We did those with PersonalArmaments. He's now a missionary in Nepal
Check out the M855A1 stuff yet?
Not yet. It's very expensive and hard to get. When the M855A1 becomes more available I will.
Nice lookin AR you built there.
Wind not helpful with accuracy love to see what that set up can do with out wind and what you can do with out wind
What's the barrel twist rate
1/8 Lilja 24" barrel
Aww, edited out my part?
Security reasons. We will get you a "name" and get you on screen
