Hi James, I spent 10 years in the Navy, 1984 to 1994. I was a Firecontrol man. That is an electronics tech works/repairs and does preventive maintenance and operates the shipboard weapon systems. I was a MK86 data and display tech which is the fire-control system of the 5" guns and a Harpoon Missile System which is an anti-ship missile. I spent 2 years in school, 4 years on a ship, USS Cushing DD-985, and 4 years teaching MK 86 at Fleet Training Center, San Diego. I have never felt the need to amp up my time. I was and still am proud of my contribution to the Navy. Every rate in the Navy is vital, from mine to the guys who were in supply, navigation, the guys who kept the engines running, who kept us feed, who cut our hair, who painted the ship so it wont rust, etc. I have met so many phonies, it is sad.
@@Tyrannosaurus_STFU_III I have only known one true SF guy, he was a 28 year career Marine. His first 12 years were Force Recon. Post Vietnam, prior to the first gulf War. Don Shipley is a living legend! And despite not being in active service anymore he still do an amazing work calling out fake seal and fake military stolen valor and that’s awesome.
