- From November 1983, Glen Campbell & Carl Jackson sing "(Love Always) Letter to Home", which Carl wrote, with just their guitars. This is probably the first television performance of this song by Glen, and he had just finished recording the song the day before--it had not even been released yet. This song is on Glen's 1984 album "Letter to Home", available at finer retailers everywhere! Glen's brother Shorty appears briefly at the end of this clip.

I had the privilege of being on the crew that shot the music video for this song back in 1985 at several locations in AZ. Met Glen, his brother, mother, and sister. Every one of them good, solid, down to earth people. Before that, we shot the video for "A Lady Like You," at Glen's home in Phoenix. That's where I wound up drinking orange juice with Glen in his kitchen. Great guy. Sad he's gone.
Awesome story ! Glen was one of the greatest guitar players and performers there ever was. Roy Clark included. Those guys were masters at their craft and so underrated. I grew up listening to both and loved every minute of it.
I’m not a country and western fan at all but I could listen to Campbell and Jackson and just appreciate their craftsmanship. Brilliant. Shame Glen is no longer with us. If only he’d recognised the problems he had and maybe, just maybe, he’d have lasted longer.
This would be a good song for Ashley Campbell & Carl Jackson to do as a duet! Hope they record it soon!
Glen Campbell appeared on the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday, November 5, 1983 for the first time and performed this song on the first show on the 8:30 pm segment. They performed on the second show but did not do this song on the second show. Great song.
It’s a great song. He chose great writers. I still have this album and many more of Glen’s.
Who could possibly dislike this?
Carl Jackson is such a great musician and songwriter. Proud to say that he is from my hometown, Louisville (not Louieville), Mississippi, the greatest small town in the world.
Mike Robertson agree! Hi neighbor 😀I’m from Philly Ms
@@mysticfire7661 Philly? Philadelphia, Mississippi, you mean? Oh, yeah! Hi, neighbor! I'm sure that James Chaney, Andrew Goodman, and Michael Scherner might've agreed with you on that. Yeah, "Hi, neighbor!"
Other than Philadelphia ms. You’re right Mike.
I take this opportunity to thank the Americans for giving us WONDERFUL MUSIC. Soul, Country and Western, Pop, Jaz, Rock n Roll and on it goes. Thank you. Keep up the great work, your Aussie mates. 👏👏👏👏👏👍🙌🙌🙋♂️🙋♀️
Huge fan of Glen and Carl! I miss Ralph Emery and Nashville Now. BTW Carl Jackson is also Ashley Campbell's Godfather.
With rare exception like maybe George Straight or Alan Jackson and a handful of others, they don't make country music like this anymore.
I attended this show on 'Nashville Now' . What a treat is was.
This is just PERFECTION... Could listen to them together for ever.
just some more great country music of my past I wish today music was as good as this
Glen proudly states he is from Billstown, outside of Delight, GA. He had a brother named shorty and took him on his tour. I saw him in the Front Row Theatre where the stage goes round and round. They had perfect harmony. Thank you for this great informative song. God Bless You and The United States of America........
No offense to Georgia, but Glen was from Arkansas.
