TONEX One - How I'm Using It

- TONEX One. I'm pretty impressed with this little pedal. Get one while you can. I am using it in the loop of my HX stomp, but may build a mini pedal board around it. Tones are great and you have access to tons of captures. Technology is making musicians lives easier. Side note, this video is not sponsored. I bought this pedal myself, just thought I'd do a video on it.

Rich, nice video!! I've just found your channel and just bought the tonex one, to use with my stomp as well. Just a couple of questions: Do I need to use the FX Loop block in stereo? or there's any difference by using it on mono? And are you using this rig with a frfr speaker? Greetings from Brazil!
You can run it in mono or stereo. I am not using a cab with mine as the bands I use mine with run in ear monitors.
Such a great time to be a guitarist.
Indeed
only if you don't have to live from it ;-)
They dont tell u it's a absolute headache trying to set it up.
Hey so this sounds like a great idea as I love a lot of line6 effects. Here is the question, how does the latency stack up? The TONEX itself not plugged into a computer is 2.2ms so one of the best how does the loop on the helix affect it? It is noticeable as I love the feel, I myself have a FM3 and I think I would rather a small mini board around the TONEX.
Has no effect. I giged with it over the weekend. Sounded great.
@@RichBischoff Great stuff I think you have the setup nailed then a few drives and stomp.
Introductory playing is superb!!! Tone is perfect!!!
Thanks Muchly!
Rick, did you ever change the pick-ups in the Firefly, and how did it go?
I did. I'll do a vid shortly.
@RichBischoff Thanks, Rick. I'm literally a beginner with a Squire Strat and amp. But I'm trying to learn to play, lol but keep up the great work!
We have the same taste in pedals. The Ego compressor is great!
Right on!
Rich, what's the ToneX adding here that the HX Stomp can't already do? Or you just like the sound of the ToneX models better than the HX models?
Tonex sounds better, in my opinion. More 3D sounding more character and feel.
I can't get my Tonex One to connect to the Tonex SE software for some reason. I checked to see if the driver was installed and it was. I guess ill have to burn another weekend to figure it out
Yup
I think I want to put strat pickups in my tele.
Some nice playing again Rich. Good sounding pedal that retains the character and clarity of the Tele. Looks like it can do quite a lot for a small pedal that's not overpriced.
Thanks Jeff, it really does sound great. I took it to a smaller gig over the weekend and it sounded great direct into the PA and in my in ear monitors.
Nice playing/demo Rich. I’d be interested to use it in a fly rig sutup or amp failure emergency situation. Really looking to travel as light/simple as possible. Would this work going direct to front of house without going into a modeler? Btw, I have a distaste for guitar software as well, hence the 50lb combos I lug around
Yes, it's basicly a modeler that also stores amp captures and pedal captures. I'm only using my hx stomp in this demo for the effects.
@@RichBischoff hey, thanks for the reply. It’s size/price definitely makes it attractive, might just do the trick
Great demo and iam with you on the laptop thing its like we spend more time on there instead of playing
Yes!
Great playing and video. This is the one I’ve been looking for. You’re speaking my lingo. I’m an old dog who’s been playing a long time, but I’m not good with the technology and am way behind the curve on all the digital stuff. But I actually DO have the TONEX One because the early videos I saw made it look relatively simple and wasn’t $500+. So I took a chance. But as you say that you do not like the software, I can’t even get it loaded up to my computer! 😆 So I’ve been using it like you are…..I scrolled through some of the presets on the pedal, picked 2 that I like and I’m running it with the rest of my pedals though an FRFR. Haven’t tried gigging with it yet, but it’s working fine at home. Thanks for sharing.
Exactly, I think I may eventually hook back up to the software, but for now I'm getting great tones, with just picking a couple presests and tweaking the pedal to taste.
I, like you, couldn't initially get the Tonex software loaded but I eventually found a workaround and now it's loaded on my PC. However, the edit software is NOT AT ALL intuitive to use. I have spent many, many hours trying to get it working and I'm a very experienced digital warrior with Fractal and Line 6 products. I see that many others are having similar issues. Hopefully IKM will get it together and issue some updates.
@@ralphmuller6040 Yeah I got it loaded, but I just didn't like the software, like you said it was not intuitive.
Yeah….even if I can somehow manage to get the software loaded in, in all probability I am just going to keep the pedal set up the way I currently have it with a cleanish Fender sound and a crunchy Marshally kinda thing and add my effects. My goal really is to just not have to lug 50+ lb amp around any more and this pedal, despite its shortcomings with the software seems to accomplish that.
I'm confused. You only have a single cable going into the HX Stomp Left return. The block setting should be "Mono FX Loop L". You would only use Stereo if you had a cable going into the left AND right effect returns.
I've tried it both ways...it doesn't seem to make a difference. Probably because the post effects are stereo.
Look again.
@@RichBischoff Ah....Right cable must be hidden under there?
Nice board. I'm also using an HX Stomp/Timmy/Tumnus/EP Boost/Tonex-1/Ampero Switch. I've replaced my mod pedals with a three button Jetpedals Micro HX Midi and moved those effects to the HX Stomp. Thanks for the video!
Thanks Rich... might have to check one out.
Do it. Worth it for a small pedalboard build.
Awesome pedal a real game changer!🙂
It does sound great!
Is that your stage right ?
Yes
