How do you know that nobody knows? But you are right - we should go back to the canon being that Predators created Xenomorphs so they could have rad fights on top of pyramids in the jungle. I can't wait to see the conclusion to *that* story arc.
They also don’t suspend things in alchohol anymore they have interstellar space travel and posess the ability to manipulate life at the molecular level
Another great take on a very underrated film. We learn in Romulus that the company wants the goo to enhance humans, make them more resilient, terraforming other worlds. The sleeping Engineer that wakes up in Prometheus, has an exo-xeno suit or growth? As do the other Engineers caught on holograms. While the Engineers at the beginning are more pure and natural. Idea being: *If* the exo-xenos left clues amongst humanity of their origin, why would the direction point to LV-223? Going in this direction, what if the exo-xeno Engineers, like the company, want to raise humanity to a higher evolutionary level? And perhaps, the pure Engineers are wanting to stop the exo-xeno Engineers from altering life they’ve created? I know some of this idea goes against the script, deleted scenes and mo audience translation of the waking Engineer’s dialogue with David. Maybe those clues were left out of the theatrical version for a reason? As production advanced, ideas were added to the plot that needed to be explored in a future film? Either way, there may be some type of schism between the exo-xeno Engineers and the cloaked ones? I believe that’s what you’re pointing out.
@@johnbarber9417 To me, it certainly seems like there’s at least two groups of engineers. In episodes 1 and 2 I talk about the so-called star maps a bit more. I also mention them in episode 22.
@@jamesstaggs4160 I think most people interpret the opening scene as depicting the seeding of life and taking place of Earth. There’s a strong argument to be made for this. But there’s no title card explicitly stating where this scene takes place so it’s open to other interpretations also, like the one I’m offering.
@ Ridley does talk about the engineers seeding life. He also says the opening scene doesn’t have to take place on Earth. Which should we believe? Should we believe both? Neither? Do you believe the things a magician says when he’s performing a trick?
I'm enjoying your symbolic analysis of this story. Solve Coagula is one of the main tenets of alchemy, so my instinct would be that the engineer's sacrifice is to seed life. Occam's razor would suggest that it's on Earth where it's occurring. May your soul become their way back to us suggests the Kabbalistic idea that the soul's purpose/desire is to return to the source. @@TheFilmSymbologist well, that just confirms that nothing, really nothing makes sense in this movie. You're welcome of course to try to make sense of it it but you're on a fools errand dear sir.

Under 20 minutes and broken into chapters like this has been working for me, and yeah I think you are doing a great job of presenting different interpretations of this film for over 20 chapters now.
Genetic Gasoline is honestly the best description I’ve ever heard of the black goo.
Gasoline is fuel. Bad writing is the best description I've heard of the black goo.
The writing is so bad they even forgot to add Predators WTF?

@ WHAT? no! We definitely should never go back to aliens vs predators 💀
Also it can withstand being put into alcohol which usually kills all microbes.
Yes, the black goo is quite powerful. Without a doubt.

@@paulmascotti3645 I'm pretty sure OP was talking about the goo surviving in alcohol when David slipped Holloway a black goo Mickey.
Alcohol is made by microbes. Yeast converts sugar to ethanol, and it can survive in 20% alcohol.
So can my liver

I always thought the scene was on earth and it was meant to show them seeding the planet with DNA thus jumpstarting evolution.

Maybe all those cells multiplying turned into individual creatures n thus a army was born out of one person.

I won't deny that a powerful case can be made for the opening scene occurring on Earth and for it depicting the seeding of life.

My gosh we know what it is. It’s the last of the original deacon blood. They later created the black goo trying to recreate the deacon blood.

Wouldn’t it be less dumb to collect some engineer DNA from tissue samples or blood instead of unnecessarily killing the subject to seed the planet ?
