This time on THE IDENT REVIEW, we'll be taking a look at CITV! Just after its 40th anniversary, it was announced that the channel would be closing down in the autumn on 2023... but before it does, we're going to turn the clock back to 2009 and look at a selection of idents that aim to show the uniqueness and the fun, that CITV had to offer!
The Ident Review began in May 2018 and since has spawned over 100 episodes and even a spin-off show, the Ident Review Extra! It remains a firm AMTV favourite to this day!

Oh now this is nostalgic. I loved this era of CITV. Every morning with Bakugan, Pokemon, Huntik, Monsuno before setting off for school.
I loved watching the shows from Nickelodeon Cartoon Network and Disney Channel amd they had killer programming like Power Rangers Matt Hatter Chronicles and Supernormal
Gotta say, I really like that Mousetrap ident simply because of how it’s executed.
This era of CITV was fantastic, heavy loads of nostalgia is coming from this video. I miss seeing those idents.
I love this. I reckon the antenna on the top might be how people would draw a television if they were the age of the people who designed it, like when a therapist asks to draw a phone and it's drawn like a landline. Ultimately recognisable and comfy AND easy. I love this video.
I remember watching ITV back in the day: Horrried Henry, Help! My parents are aliens and the Ministry of Mayhem was my favourite shows.
These idents looked quite promising for their time! Filled with charm! Keep up woth the good work!

This was the era I started with, and though I preferred CBBC, CITV was pretty great. This is definitely my favourite CITV logo, I especially remember the promos where the logo was 3D and would deconstruct and construct again. The idents could have done with more consistency though.

At this point, CITV will become promotion for ITVX and will eventually stop showing new programming just before the channel closes down for good.

I remember CITV from the early 90s - I basically watched the segment until 2001/2
I always thought CITV and their idents were neat.
From Stop motion to normal animation, and the nice music that takes place through its idents.
It's sad to see CITV go however.. Even if I never watched it..
Gonna miss this channel another childhood memory that'll be gone soon.

I never really got the "ITVX" sounds like an adult channel thing, but ITVX Kids sounds so wrong. They can't name it that surely?
@@streyyk5799 but they aren't braking any rules so they can call it that but it's a bit stupid thought so they should just keep the chanel lot's of kids have grown up with the channel and it is stupid to do a way with it just because it don't fit the new itv theme 🙄🤷♂️🤦♂️😡

It seems that streaming is the next big thing, I always prefered physical media anyways. Unlike streaming the company that owns the rights to the show/movie you have the DVD for legally can’t get it repossessed. It’s yours to keep and there’s nothing anyone can do about it unless you allow them to
I was gonna say! The Transformers inspired one is especially fitting when during the 2008/2009 era, they were airing Transformers Cybertron at that time!

Yeah I completely agree about that first ident, looks like the designers/animators made it up as they went along! Still can't believe the channel is closing down to be honest, not that I watch the channel much now, being a grown-up and all, but somehow it's always been nice to know that the channel is there if ever I'm feeling nostalgic and need a bit of a break from adulthood! I'm still hoping deep down that they'll change their minds and keep the channel going!😢

I would say out of all of these, the stick men and somersault were probably the most engaging. I wasn't really a CITV kid either, but I did find this video really interesting! 😄

Can you do The Ident Review of Mini CITV idents, the channel's short-lived self-titled preschool strand from the same four-year time period? I remember growing up with it and watching a few of the CITV programs online from the channel's website back when this logo was in use but I always had theories that the Mini CITV was just a CITV knockoff of BBC's CBeebies preschool channel because the Minis mascots have some sort of similar design to the CBeebies/CBBC blobs where they just make random squishing noises and don't talk at all and the commercials breaks/continuity announcer is female gender as opposed to the typical male gender announcer for the older TV-Y7 audiences demographic..

Not the ones from 2005 though as I find half of them extremely dark. Makes sense to do them though, we’ve already got two episodes for Nickelodeon and one Disney Channel ident was covered in the hundredth episode.
@@actiongamingvlogs9226 i haf seen the 2005 ones and thay are not dark thay are cool you just love nick and yes some times cartoon network can be dark but the idents are not dark thay are so nice oh and do you want a ident review on cartoon network too?
@@levimortimer-griffith567 Yes I do but there was one Ident where this man grabs a dog and uses it like those balloons you use to make balloon animals, there’s another one where a girl gets he teeth drilled out. To me at least they can be unsettling.😰
@actiongamingvlogs9226 1 the dog bloon and the dr teeth thing idants are not real idant those idant are made by a UA-cambr not cn and 2 like i said that they are not DARK thay are kid friendly and yes cn can be dark but cn idants are NOT DARK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The rocket leaving the robot stranded on the moon in the moon ident actually made me chuckle.
Atleast he’s got a friend to play with until someone can get to the moon and rescue them.

Most of these idents from CITV are well done, especially for a kids channel, specifically the metallic variants with good use of stop-motion animation (at least how I think they're made).
