It's summer 2022! While looking for our next travel destination, we came across North Macedonia. The deal was irresistible (from The Netherlands - booked via corendon.com). Even though a lot was unknown about North Macedonia, we were determined to discover this country. We did our online research and created an itinerary for our trip. Our first impression of North Macedonia? This country is breathtaking and authentic! We had lots of fun and saw some beautiful scenery.

3:45 Lake Matka in Macedonia was formed in 1938 when the St. Andrew dam was built on the Treska River, creating a reservoir in the Matka Canyon. The lake is the oldest artificial lake in Macedonia. The water from the lake is used for hydroelectric power and to irrigate the surrounding villages. The lake is also stocked with fish and is often used for recreational fishing

9:01 Struga, Bitola and Ohrid are all VERY CLOSE TOGETHER! As a Macedonian I recommend hitting those spots first BEFORE going up to Skopje that way you’re not going back and forth (also please note that those roads are on tough terrain so you may want to being something to help with motion sickness)
